It's also worth mentioning that the local skaters and scooter kids are real cool and welcoming to visitors and there's some incredible talent in this little mountain town. If you're in the area and looking to skate it's definitely worth visiting.

The skatepark is free and offers area skaters a safe, modern park with modular ramps and obstacles, a launch ramp, rails, benches and a mini half-pipe. A great place for active teens to work off some energy. Also nearby: Goodwin's Market, a picnic area and basketball and tennis courts. Restrooms and a children's playground are located here. So while the teens are riding the rails, the younger ones can play on the jungle gym and parents can relax and hang out watching. Lake Arrowhead and Lake Gregory offer all kinds of seasonal recreation opportunities like snow-skiing and boarding in the winter and swimming & water-skiing in the summer. Nice that Lake Gregory Rec Company has this nice sports complex that can be enjoyed by all ages of residents and visitors alike.

I have ALWAYS wanted to see owls in the wild - been chasing them for years but never have been able to see them until my visit here!! So exciting!! I got to see a momma and baby - they are Great Horned Owls - and apparently you can sometimes see the father owl flying food in and out if you get lucky! I also caught sight of another bird I've always wanted to see - a brilliant, gorgeous Vermillion Flycatcher! I also saw finches, hummingbirds, Black Headed Grosbeaks and a Coopers Hawk!! So this park is an excellent little side hike for birders if you're in the area! The park itself is quite nice - well maintained trails winding around, lots of playground equipment in good condition, picnic tables, restrooms etc - and they even have tennis courts and a small skate park! There were a few people out skating and everyone was very respectful. There isn't much shade so I recommend sun screen and hats etc and plenty of water. It has lots of parking - some paved and some dirt - and it's easy to find. It's a very short walk here from the Marsh Trail over at the Preserve- but you can also drive it easily.

I semi-anticipated this because it's Spring, lots of tourists and concert goers in town but we were still a bit disappointed that so early it was hard to find a court. The courts themselves are very nice though I will give them that. 5 stars for being nicely painted and maintained. They also had a lot of courts and clear signage as to experience level and offerings on which court should certain level of players play on. Another nice note is they had plenty of shaded seating for watchers and waiters so that's appreciated in the hot sun. The reasons I docked a star were primarily for parking availability and also there could be nicer little perks added. With parking we thought it was odd that they have so many reserved parking permit spots? On a Friday morning only 1 of those permit special spots were being used and the other 15 or so were just open, yet we couldn't park there. Parking was scarce given all of the players which resulted in many parking on the street which didn't make as much sense to me. Also we didn't notice paddle holders for pickleball which all of our local courts have. There's no easy way to navigate who is next to play without those nice visible paddle holders on the courts. We watched players line their paddles all across the ground which seemed kind of unnecessary as those little holders could easily be purchased by parks and rec given how nice these courts appear to be. If there were paddle holders their either wasn't enough or they weren't easy to see given how many paddles were lined up across the floor. Again, not trying to be overly critical but this just seems like a really nice pickleball court and there are some small little upgrades that they could make to ensure this spot is more accessible and up to date. Otherwise, we really liked this area and would happily play here again, keeping these courts on my radar and liked the location from where we stay and the downtown area.
