My sister and I are avid shoppers and longtime fans of the Sugarplum Festival here in Orange County. This past weekend, we attended the Spring and Easter event at the Westminster Mall on Saturday. I made a few purchases, including a purse. However, when I got home, I noticed a tear in the purse and decided to return it the following day. Upon my return, I was immediately approached by two women at the entrance who asked what was in my bag. I explained that I was returning a damaged purse. One of them asked about the price tag, and I told her I had removed it because I intended to use the purse. She then directed me to the customer service desk. When I arrived, I noticed the purse being inspected. The manager on duty told me the purse had a tag on it from an item I had not purchased specifically something priced differently , and possibly a piece of jewelry. I informed her that I never purchased anything in that price range, nor did I buy any jewelry. Instead of simply resolving the issue, she continued to question me and called over the vendor to verify the tag. At that point, I felt humiliated. I was left standing there for over 10 minutes while she spoke with other staff members about me as if I had done something wrong. The way she treated me made me feel as though I was being accused of theft. She was rude, dismissive, and handled the situation in a completely unprofessional manner. Eventually, she asked for my credit card to process the return, but the damage was already done. Never in all the years I've attended Sugarplum events have I been treated so poorly. I urge you to train your staff on how to handle these situations with respect and professionalism. No loyal customer should ever be made to feel like a criminal. Do better. read more

They charged a cover charge of $10 dollars which was not advertised. Not worth it, as the cost of merchandise is already expensive.

I used to absolutely love going to every sugarplum festival I could, but things have gone downhill the last couple of years. While there are a few booths of real crafters, the majority of the booths seem to be filled with items from Temu which they've doubled, tripled and quadrupled (or more) the prices for. Then there are the Scentsy, Origami Owl, etc type booths. I don't mind if there are a few, but combine those with all the Temu booths and there's literally not much reason for me to continue shopping here. If I wanted items from Temu, I could purchase those on the website and pay a fraction of what is being asked for at Sugarplum. Sorry to say, I don't envision this lasting many more years if they can't get some real crafters back. read more

Disappointed in their Westminster location. My nieces and I visited their Fall show last weekend and the quality of items was not there. The show seemed smaller too. The building was very hot so we decided to buy ice tea from the new tamale vendor and he was charging $5 for a small cup. Probably won't make the drive from Fullerton to attend another show. read more

Today I went to Sugarplum and to my surprise was charged $5.00 enters me fee! Never ever have I been charged to go in. I've been going to Sugarplum for years. When it was at the Orange County Fairgrounds there were so much more vendors and now it's maybe a quarter. Alot of the things sold here I've seen sold at Hobby Lobby/Joann's/Michael's. With that being said it was probably my last time visiting. I would like to support small business who are true artisans. Not people buying things at craft stores and hyping the prices. read more

New location! Was pretty crowded on the Friday morning we went. Westminster Mall is fairly deserted:( but it seemed to work well for the event. There was only a few people in line when we got there, but was a long line to get in when we left. They are very organized and staff was pleasant. Have been going to this event for many years at the various locations and things are pretty much always the same. A nice mix of vintage items, craft items, food items, but way too much merchandise bought wholesale and sold retail at high prices. I am a retail buyer for several gift shops and I saw many of the items from vendors that I buy from at the wholesale gift shows. This started as a craft festival and in my opinion, it really should go back to its roots. We all want to see something different and unique, not the same stuff you can buy elsewhere. Bathrooms are really a walk from The event at this new location, so plan ahead. Was fun and will probably go again, just hoping to see something new and unique in the future. I have to leave another review for this place, they now charge a 3% surcharge on credit or debit purchases. This should have been noted on the post cards they send out so that people could bring cash instead as an option. They said it is the bank doing it but I'm a business owner and the bank does charge the fee to me, I would never push that fee off on my customers. SMH! read more

Beware!!! They are UPCHARGING items. No one has said anything no advertising that their charging extra for using credit card. Each item is more than ticket price. Asked the "manager" she said she didn't care we have a choice. Bad business they should be up front on prices and gouging us sometimes a $1.05 just for using credit card for just one item is illegal it's call price gouging. Target/Walmart can't do this why can sugar plum do this. Maybe litigation will help sugar plum be more up front with their customers. So buyer BEWARE if you don't want to be up charged bring cash or like what I unfortunately do is stop shopping there. read more

I LOVE Sugar Plums Festivals. My sister and mom introduced me to this event that happens a few times a year before holidays. I wait for it now lol. You can sign up to receive a post card reminder of the event and i hear that if you give your postcard to the ppl at the door they raffle it for a gift certificate for theyre next event. There's so many things I want to buy and so many things at prices I must buy and so much stuff you will NOT find anywhere else. Really the vendors are so talented in crafts and all sorts. Its a vintage lovers dream. Great place to go for home decor. And the food and treats they sell are amazing DELICIOUS . Everything about Sugar Plum makes it a must go. I've been going for the past 3 yrs now and it's fun, love the samples, the decorations and vendor stands. I'm wondering how the buena park location compares if it is the same or bigger. I always go to the slow cooker seasoning - whatcha got cooking stand, the lisa's coffee stand, the old town baking co. and some other random ones that change from time to time. I wish there were more stuff to check out. Head's up going at night time is definitely more crowded but also more active there aren't as many owners or ppl during the day time and not as many sample options available during the afternoon as I found out this past friday after noon. The registers are numerous which makes it nice as another person mentioned making it easier to check out. read more

I go to this almost every time and enjoy it. Prices are usually pretty good and it's a free event. I noticed on the postcard for the Aug. Event that "strollers welcome". They never allowed them before. There was a reason for that.. There is no room in the booths for a stroller and I'm sure you don't want to park your kid in a busy, crowded aisle while you go into a booth. I've never even seen children there. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find lots and lots of choices for gifts under $10.00. This is a great place to get some holiday shopping done. I love going to the Sugar Plum festival. This is one of my favorite places to visit a couple times during the year. It's such a warm place basically it's heaven on earth for crafters. It's also a great place to find antiques and meet lots of new people. I have been a regular to sugar plum and have followed them from Pomona to Buena Park & Costa Mesa. I do have to say the best set up is in Buena Park!Costa Mesa was super far for me, I found beautiful items but, it didn't feel like Buena Park, plus its a lot closer. They are inside the mall & super close to Knotts Berry Farm. You can get in through Walmart or Bed Bath and Beyond. You will find unique and one of a kind pieces. Everything is super reasonable. Make sure to check out every shop and take your time everyone is super friendly. If you buy more than you thought they have beautiful purple sleigh cars that the employees will use to take your stuff out. Yes, I've had the pleasure of using it. I recommend wearing casual shoes as you will do a lot of walking and if you're anything like me you will walk the fair 2 or 3 times just Incase you missed something. They sell Julian'sTamales inside they are super delicious. He does sell some to take home but, they will be frozen. Don't ask for warm ones because he will not budge. You will find candy, chocolate fudge , bread, hot chocolate, tea, and other yummy Goodies. There is a little bit of everything for everyone including your husband if he happens to go with you. My advice is if you see something buy it. Don't say you'll get it later. I've been coming for many years and have purchased beautiful hand made pieces that i have never seen at another fair. In fact just walking around don't pass up the item it won't be there if you decide to walk back trust me. located inside the buena park mall near walmart. ran into this place just to see whats its all about, but im glad i checked it out... the place is very welcoming once you are greeted as you walk into the store... they do bag- check ins for you for your other shoppings you've done...so grab your ticket. they have many vendors and lots of cute crafts and jewelries... home decors...hats...clothings...and many seasonal/halloween stuff i enjoyed seeing the haunted mansion that was hand built... -very nice!(see pic!) ...and the first time i ever saw bubbles with steam coming out of it as it popped!---very neat!--great idea for halloween props! they had a lil' food court in the back corner of the store...tamales, cookies, bread, coffees, smoothies... i tried the tamales, it was very good--- i think all the vendors that come out here to showcase their creativities are amazing!---i will definitely comeback for the thanksgiving festival/crafts! read more

This is one of the most fun venues we go to every year. I never want to miss the October or the December shows. The items for sale are always top notch and sometimes adorably quirky. They are always enjoyable. And, you don't have to be old to go there. I've seen visitors of all ages. It is more pleasant for shoppers not to take a chance of being hit on the heels or back of their legs by someone's stroller and the noise from a child who shouldn't be there in the first place is unpleasant. Take the children to a place for kids and reserve this festival for a pleasant afternoon shopping for all those special things you don't necessarily find any where else. read more

I was attending the bride world expo which was being held across the way from the sugar plum. I was originally planning on checking out the sugar plum since my wedding is vintage themed. As I stood in line for the bridal expo, two marketers for the sugar plum blatantly ignored me as they gave coupons and flyers to the other people in line. People who, by the way, threw the coupons away right after. I was a prospective customer, but since they made eye contact with me and still ignored me and when I stuck my hand out for the flyer, passed me by, I am not stepping foot or patronizing their event. The Sugar Plum festival is perfect for holiday time or for any nick knack you want in or around your home. The vendors are friendly and will let you try on any merchandise you are inquiring. I think it is probably a good thing you rarely leave empty handed because you are bound to find a gift for someone or even yourself! My favorite part of the festival is just the warmth the vendors hold when they display or advertise their products, they don't just want you to love your product, they want you to know about it and it's background.
