We were able to obtain a sitting at 8:30 pm. From the very beginning the meal was WOW! Wine and beer with a beet and goat cheese salad and lobster bisque that we shared. Homemade crackers with goat cheese and partridge berries was also a beginning. All delicious, just enough leaving you wanting more. We split a gnocchi and lobster dish that was...well what gnocchi is supposed to be, soft pillowy bundles of goodness! Main courses of roast pork tenderloin and a homemade pasta with black olives...mmm good. Finished off with a piece of partridge berry cheesecake and coffee. I honestly believe that this restaurant would compete with any high end restaurant in any major city in the world. Excellent service, presentation was interesting, great time in Newfoundland. Just wish it was closer to Los Angeles! If you are in Newfoundland and near Gros Morne...head to this restaurant for a memorable dining experience.

The floors were also very nice (first thing I noticed walking in haha) and it just felt very therapeutic and homey. It also looked like there were paddle boarding and canoeing available to rent across the street. I didn't get a chance to do it or look in to it but I saw people out there enjoying themselves. Overall I def recommend this spot in the Norris Point area!!!

Not a lot of ambiance, a distinct "smell" in the room, an elevator that you have to manually operate, and actual physical keys to access the rooms. Pretty cool actually. Ultimately though the rooms left a lot to be promised. The TVs were barely functioning. There were plugs that weren't working. The beds, while comfortable, creeked quite a bit in terms of noise. Overall given the location and pricing of the hotel it's passable. It's not a "oh my god I must come back here", but a good hotel if all you wanna do is sleep.

I was supposed to fly out yesterday evening from Deer Lake but I missed my flight. I'm on a flight…read morethis afternoon and needed a place to spend last night. I drove up to the Holiday Inn Express (on Bennett Avenue) and asked if they had a room even though I didn't have a reservation ... and they did. In fact, I was upgraded to a larger king room. The rate was $139/night. It's only about 10 minutes from the airport so I didn't have far to go. I had a conference call this morning so was able to have a late check-up. A complimentary hot breakfast was included (I didn't check it out). WIFI (it's fairly speedy) and parking are also complimentary. Apparently there is an indoor pool with an 80 foot waterslide ... alas, I didn't have my bathing suit to check it out. There is no restaurant onsite for supper so I ordered a pizza for delivery from Pizza Delight.

The whole hotel has carpet , which is fine if you would take care of it once in a while . I stared hitching the moment I stepped into this facility and stop when I finally checked out . Personnel working there very unprofessional , especially the manager Ben is very rude . Stay away from this place , 5 minutes away from this place there is the " Tranquil Waters inn " where with the same price you get an outstanding service and beautiful rooms overlooking a lake .

We found the atmosphere to be relaxed and unpretentious - breakfasts were hearty (bacon, eggs, toast, homemade jams), cod cakes and fisherman's brew on the two mornings we stayed there. For the nice accommodations the price was quite low ($65/night). Lucas House is very close to Deer Lake Airport; but it is also about a one hour drive to get into the heart of Gros Morne National Park. Lucas House was a good place to stay for day trips and for travellers passing by the TCH but for longer stays at Gros Morne it would probably be better to pay a bit more to stay inside the park.

I had put two thin gold bangles in a zipper compartment as they always set off the TSA alarm (not a good move in retrospect). The bag was a carry-on and never left my care during the entire trip home, but when I arrived, the bangles were gone. I called the hotel and spoke to the manager, who said she would review their security video, and she added that it was not the hotel's responsibility. I never got a call-back. Can't recommend this one.

They upgraded me to a suite. The bed was comfy and I had a great sleep! It was $129 (plus taxes) for the night. Parking and WIFI are complementary. There is a mini fridge in the room. I'd stay here again.
