Jane's is the only bakery in the Gloucester/Cheltenham area that makes the Cornish pasty just how I like it - not too big, with flaky pastry & deliciously moist. Everyone else wants to make their pasty huge & with thick dry shortcrust pastry. no thanks. I only wish I could buy them frozen & take them back to the States with me.. :(

There is ALWAYS a queue at this shop, no matter what time of day you visit…read more They do do nice sandwiches though, but nothing is made to order - you just pick up whatever you want from the fridge and take it to the counter, where the big cream cakes will smile invitingly at you!!! The sandwich fridges are generally well stocked with a variety of sandwiches (although the variety is always the same - but that's good if you find one that you REALLY like!) but the cold drinks fridge isn't always quite so well stocked. The sandwiches are reasonably priced for their size, and they are generally quite nice. Cakes are really tempting - and they usually have some sort of multibuy offer on - which just makes you buy more cakes!! The staff aren't that friendly, or that efficient - but I've never witnessed them being rude, so I guess that's as good as can be expected.

I have always liked the mexican chicken rolls that they do but all of it is fairly good. This store is in the middle of gloucester and so obviously there isnt any car parking and is only really suitable for those people that are already shopping in the town. The only thing about all of the greggs stores are the quality of their drinks. With this on there are 3 good coffee shops all in the same row.

Janes pantry is a small bakery at the bottom of westgate street. They have always had some good…read morequality products. I always remember when i was growing up, on a saturday we would always go in to town and start at the bottom of westgate street and start off with a cake from janes pantry before going off in to town to do the shopping. They of course sell good quality bread as well. There isn't any real parking but you can usually pull in next to the shop for long enough to pop in and get some goodies or there is some street parking further down.

I went to Jane's Pantry today and was shocked by the attitude of the waitress. I bought a bacon…read moreroll and a latte. not being asked or given any eat in or out option I sat down and started eating my mediocre quality food and beverage. The waitress stomped over and tore my bacon roll from my hands and confiscated my coffee whilst telling me that I had not paid the sufficient amount to cover the VAT to eat in. I asked what the difference was, then was told to sit, five mins later my coffee and roll appeared again, were presented to me on a plate & in a mug (so the previous latte cup was wasted). I asked again what's the additional charge? She hesitated, went away, came back with £3.90 which she gave back to me. Then she said that'll be £5.90. So I fished out a 2 pound coin and pushed the £3.90 back towards her with the additional vat charge included. Since when is the VAT on £3.90 two quid? that's over 50% That's theft.
