Jane's is the only bakery in the Gloucester/Cheltenham area that makes the Cornish pasty just how I like it - not too big, with flaky pastry & deliciously moist. Everyone else wants to make their pasty huge & with thick dry shortcrust pastry. no thanks. I only wish I could buy them frozen & take them back to the States with me.. :(

There are a wide range of cakeboards, packs of sugarpaste of all sizes, reels of coloured and patterned ribbons, food dye pastes in every colour, and drawers and drawers full of cake decorations. I've never struggled to find what I want in there. I must admit that I feel the staff could be friendlier - at this stage I only make cakes for my children's birthdays and, while I'd love to develop the skill, I don't think I would feel able to ask the staff for advice.

I have always liked the mexican chicken rolls that they do but all of it is fairly good. This store is in the middle of gloucester and so obviously there isnt any car parking and is only really suitable for those people that are already shopping in the town. The only thing about all of the greggs stores are the quality of their drinks. With this on there are 3 good coffee shops all in the same row.

Janes pantry is a small bakery at the bottom of westgate street. They have always had some good…read morequality products. I always remember when i was growing up, on a saturday we would always go in to town and start at the bottom of westgate street and start off with a cake from janes pantry before going off in to town to do the shopping. They of course sell good quality bread as well. There isn't any real parking but you can usually pull in next to the shop for long enough to pop in and get some goodies or there is some street parking further down.

I went to Jane's Pantry today and was shocked by the attitude of the waitress. I bought a bacon…read moreroll and a latte. not being asked or given any eat in or out option I sat down and started eating my mediocre quality food and beverage. The waitress stomped over and tore my bacon roll from my hands and confiscated my coffee whilst telling me that I had not paid the sufficient amount to cover the VAT to eat in. I asked what the difference was, then was told to sit, five mins later my coffee and roll appeared again, were presented to me on a plate & in a mug (so the previous latte cup was wasted). I asked again what's the additional charge? She hesitated, went away, came back with £3.90 which she gave back to me. Then she said that'll be £5.90. So I fished out a 2 pound coin and pushed the £3.90 back towards her with the additional vat charge included. Since when is the VAT on £3.90 two quid? that's over 50% That's theft.
