They were very professional, responsive to questions and handled our extensive plumbing issues.

Chris and Santos were amazing, they were able to address our plumbing issue in the same day visit, costing half as much as the other plumber had quoted us, and doing a much more thorough job. Their technology using cameras to assess the situation is really important to be able to accurately diagnose the problem. They were honest, intelligent and experienced. They saved us so much money and headache. Thank you so much this company is awesome! read more

A year ago I had my energy star efficient HVAC installed. Before agreeing, I specifically asked if they were BayRen certified, a rebate company, and they said they were. Months past, and they said "the state canceled rebates". I was confused, so I contacted BayRen and they said sugar bear plumbing was not certified by them. When I tried to resolve this directly through SB Plumbing, they were more than eager to tell me to file a complaint. It's definitely not good business to not have integrity in your business. I waited more than one year for my rebate and I am all for work life balance, but when you say " I won't be responding to you anymore so I can be with my wife and kids" is very unprofessional. read more

We had our 3rd service call and 5 Star experience with Sugar Bear and plumber Chris Smith! Thanks for providing and installing new fixture, cleaning up, wearing shoe covers, and for consistent quality plumbing and friendly service. Thanks for discussing our next project and emailing estimate for future reference. From someone who loves and works in the trades- trust me when I say Sugar Bear delivers. See you soon, Chris. read more

Extremely expensive and my pipes are still leaking after their second time here. What's the point of spending all the money if you don't do your job??? Also left ugly fixtures on because they would have had to "go get them" like really??? Over $1300 and I have two toned fixtures I'm now having to complain about having changed. All the while the pipes are still leaking when trying to take a bath and the drain leaks so what was actually done?! So annoyed. They will be back for the 3rd time and I'll update once everything is said and done. As it stands I won't recommend them to anyone. read more

I needed a Ruud gas furnace repaired under warranty. I had a first contractor waste 3 months of my time before ghosting me entirely so I called Sugarbear because they were on Ruud/Rheems suggested list. While we had some long delays getting parts from the supplier Lawrence was always communicative and ultimately we were able to get my furnace back in action and at a reasonable cost. read more

Very prompt, professional service. I was in need of furnace service and called yesterday. Lawrence arrived within an hour or so. He was very personable and professional. Lawrence inspected my furnace and determined that it was in need of replacing. Due to a P,G&E "brownout" last week, my furnace control boards were ruined (but that another story). Lawrence was able to locate a new furnace and and schedule an installation for today. The team arrived and once again was very professional. The removal and installation went well and in a fraction of the time expected. The crew cleaned up very well and the new furnace works as expected. I am very pleased with Sugar Bear Plumbing, they exceeded my expectations. I recommend Sugar Bear Plumbing for anyone needed HVAC work. read more

I shoulda read all the other reviews before hiring Sugar Bear, but I was desperate and they called first. I don't usually write "meh" reviews, but I really didn't leave with a great feeling. First reason: odd dispatch interactions. I talked to one dispatcher in the evening, gave my details, and set a time for a visit the next day. It all seemed very business-like The plumber didn't arrive, so I called back. Apparently there was no record I'd ever previously called. Weird. Second reason: insistent up selling. I'm sure that the more expensive version of the service *is* more effective. But if we want the cheap version that's worked well in the past...why keep pushing? After the plumber kept pushing for the pricey option after I'd asked him multiple times for the cheap but ok version, I started to feel a bit uncomfortable. We finally did get the cheap version though. Which was good because... Third reason: $$$$. Snaking a drain on the ground floor cost us $427. That's...a lot more than we paid the last time. Maybe average prices have gone up since the last time we had that pipe snaked, but wow. It was a shock. But we were desperate, as I said. So we paid. We asked an architect friend whether that price seemed reasonable, and he confirmed: definitely more $$$ then he'd accept. So, hey. Glad our problem is solved. But we're not going to call Sugar Bear ever again. read more

I just used Sugar Bear to replace my gas HVAC and water heater with new heat pump models and couldn't be more pleased. It was somewhat of a complicated project as my house had major additions/renovations, Heat Pumps are only recently becoming popular, and I needed electrical work done as well. Not to mention I had installed solar, and had rebate and Google Home networking questions. Lawrence was my point person and he is very friendly, knowledgeable and extremely patient with all my inquiries. I usually don't trust contractors and go with recommendations from friends but I contacted them due to their positive reviews and was impressed with their prompt service, knowledge and reasonable price when other bids I had gotten were outrageously overpriced and put on a bit of a show to try and justify their terrible prices. I knew Lawrence is someone I can trust and with his patient and calm demeanor he and his team did a great job and I'm very happy with my new heat pump HVAC and Water heater installations. I'm glad to recommend this company for any HVAC or plumbing needs. They certainly went above and beyond my expectations and I will continue to use them in the future. read more

This is not a review of their abilities as plumbers as they never actually made it out to my house to fix a clogged drain. I called slightly before noon on a Friday because our bathtub drain was clogged. The operator took all our information and told us a plumber would be out to fix the problem in a couple of hours. After waiting at the house for four hours I finally get a call from the plumber saying he wasn't going to be able to come out and that I could maybe schedule something for Tuesday. I tried to explain the drain was clogged and I couldn't wait but no I would have to wait. Now I understand them getting busy, not having the time to fix our drain, but to leave us hanging for four hours on a weekday afternoon without telling us they weren't going to make it after promising they would? Totally rude and unprofessional. This is no way to run a business. So if you have an immediate plumbing need do not depend on these guys to be able to make it out to fix it or even tell you they won't make it. They'll just leave you hanging. read more

I used them forfirst time to fix my bathroom / shower faucet. They charged me double the usual plumbing job and the faucet was still leaking but from different corner. When I asked him why it is still leaking , he said that is a different leak and he had to chage me another fee for fixing it. Will never use them again. read more

Quick service, but you'll pay big time. I called yesterday afternoon and they were at my house this morning. I almost fainted when I heard the charge was over $600 to clear my clogged kitchen sink. My husband replaced the garbage disposal and pipes under the sink. A local plumber advised us to pour professional liquid drano down (we followed his instructions and after 2 bottles, the clog remained) I'm just curious to find out from my husband why it cost us over $600 read more

Thank you for coming out on a Saturday and coming earlier than you had quoted. I really appreciate the fast service and reasonable rate.

We had a sewage backup on a Sunday morning and needed a plumber's help quickly. We called Sugar Bear's number and the answering service got us in touch with Lawrence. He told us he'd be over within an hour, and he was. He was able to clear the blockage quickly, and then said he'd like to take a look with a camera, because he suspected there was a tree root damaging the sewer main. We told him to go ahead, and he was right. He said he could replace the damaged section the very next day, and he did, for a reasonable price. Lawrence is a really nice guy, totally professional and capable. I'd highly recommend him. read more

We called in the morning about our 15-year old broken water heater, and Sugar Bear sent out the plumber later that morning, and the water heater was installed and checked and running by mid -afternoon for a reasonable price. The plumber was personable, professional, and knowledgeable about our brand of water heater. We're so grateful to Sugar Bear. read more

The day after Christmas 2010... 940am - load of baby drool covered gift wrap paper to the garage. Discover a leak over the water heater. 1000am - call heating company...lady is confident that the water heater needs to be relplaced right away, without even seeing the unit She sounds like a biznatch that wants to just make some extra cash off of me. 1015am - call Sugar Bear plumbing. Lawrence says he can be over within the hour. 1045am - He's already there. Checks out the problem, goes over what's wrong, then gives estimate with great rates. Turns our its just minor corrosion in the couplings. New water heater my ass, lady. He leaves to pick up some parts. 300pm - Issue fixed, work area cleaned. Awesome, solid job. High quality materials. Made the previous plumbing look like 2 pencils, 4 straws, and some duct tape. Do yourself a favor and call Sugar Bear Plumbing first if any plumbing problems arise, or if you're remodeling or repiping. read more

Sugar Bear came to help install electronic bidet for my toilet. Setup for appointment was easy. We scheduled a 2 hour window. my repair was an easy one; a clogged kitchen disposal/drain.. potato peels, but its more about the service they provided. It was 7:30pm & I was right in the middle of make dinner for my in-laws. I had called 3 other service who all told me 'tomorrow'. Micplumbing said someone will be there within the hour, & Ian showed up exactly one hour later. Ian worked fast, he unclogged the drain & repaired a leak. He got in & out quickly & it was as little disruption to my dinner party as possible. The price was fair, especially for being after hours, I will definitely call Micplumbing again. read more

Two expensive. They charged me $199 to fix the bathroom sink that was clogged and leaking. They unclogged but they left leaking. To stop leaking would be extra $500 for a new faucet. Are you kidding me??? read more

Worst experience possible. Had an appointment, the technician Bernadino did not show up. We called the owner Lawrence, who proceeded to yell at us over the phone for no reason, claiming he had never heard of us. All we wanted was to get our sink fixed so were incredibly calm. We have voicemails from both him and Bernadino so there was likely something involved that compromised his memory, I can probably imagine what that was. He was incredibly hostile and after having this experience, I would think twice before allowing someone like this into your home. read more

A little over 5 years ago, one of my tenants informed me that there was water leaking from the hot water heater in their unit. After looking around a little, I purchased a new Rheem 40 gal hot water heater from Sugar Bear Plumbing and had them do the removal of the old unit and installation of the new model. They showed up on time, were courteous and professional and performed a solid installation of a high quality water heater that I was happy to buy from them. Fast forward to 2014--I got a note from the same tenant above that they had no hot water. I went over to re-light the pilot light, but it wouldn't re-light after several tries. I called Lawrence and he came quickly making me his first appointment of the day. I was pretty sure that it was a problem with the thermocouple, but I wasn't sure. Lawrence confirmed that it was the thermocouple. I off-handedly mentioned that I wished that I could do it myself but was hesitant because the water heater is one of the newer types that has a completely sealed and fairly inaccessible inner chamber where the pilot and burner are located. After talking about it for a few minutes and getting some tips from Lawrence, I felt confident that I could make the repair. I asked him how much I should write the check out for the service call and he said not to worry about it--no charge. I couldn't believe it! With the confirmed diagnosis as well as the tips/coaching, I would have gladly paid the service call fee. He even said that he would be working in the area that day so if I had any questions or got stuck to just call him and he'd come back over. WOW! Repair went beautifully. BTW-the morning that Lawrence came by, it was raining quite as bit. We were well into the service call and investigating the problem before I noticed that he had plastic coverings on over his boots so that he wouldn't accidentally track water and mud into my tenant's apartment. ---That speaks for itself! Thanks Lawrence! read more

I learned of Sugar Bear via LivingSocial. I called the # on the certificate. Got a call back right away. Told Lawrence about the drip I had, the location of the "L" joint that needed to be replaced. He came, verified, removed, replaced, and it doesn't leak. I repaired the popcorn ceiling and it looks like old as that is what one wants - otherwise the ceiling looking new will look like a patch job was performed. I rather have the ceiling blend as if the drip never occurred. Thx Lawrence for the great work. read more

Mic was great. About 5 years ago he installed the water heater in our flat (before it was our flat). It just broke (with just a few months left on the warranty) so we called Mic to come fix it. We had no idea it would be a two day job, including the replacement of our water heater with a new one! Mic spent a lot of time and effort diagnosing the problem and then going about fixing it. So the service was outstanding - we got a brand new water heater and a brand new warranty, and Mic and his associates were extremely respectful of our home (one guy even took off his muddy boots so as not to get the dirt all over our floors!). Even better was the cost - despite the job taking two days (largely because the equipment wasn't available right away), the cost to install it was basically the same as it was when the first water heater was installed 5 years ago. I highly recommend Mic for your plumbing needs. He gets the job done as quickly as possible, with a smile and for a reasonable price. read more

Horrible! Very, disappointed. Sugar Bear Plumbing came out to our house on Friday because we had a shower that wouldn't drain. We showed them our pipes and Lawrence immediately told us we need all new piping??? WTF??? We called for a clogged shower?? Now we need new pipes and its going to cost $1,700 bucks??? He wouldn't even look down the pipe?? He wouldn't even bother with trying to snake the shower??? WOW what kind of plumbing service is this??? Very corporate and just trying to make commission. We contacted another plumbing service and fixed the issue in 30 mins for $189.00. Save your money and don't bother contacting these guys. read more

I highly recommened Sugar Bear Plumping for anyone who has a drain problem. I called other Plumping srvices and they were very rude! I called Sugar Bear and spoke to Lawrence and told him about the batroom sink that has been plugged for about a week. Lawence made it possiable to come in the afternoon and that he did he took care of the problem and was kind to clean up after. He was great and if there was more than a a 5 star rating I would give him a 10. He is very professional and was quick and his price was very reasonable in fact I gave him a little more for being so quick and with a great attitude I will use him again for any future problems. If I could leave ZERO stars for Sugar Bear Plumbing I would. These guys are the worst plumbers out there. My husband and I had an appointment that we booked with Bernadino. Our appointment was scheduled for Friday at 8am. Unfortunately 8am came and went but Sugar Bear Plumbing never showed up. I called the number left on our voicemail and spoke with Lawrence, the owner! Lawrence proceeded to be irritated with me, claiming this appointment was not booked through him and he had no knowledge. I asked how I would know he had an employee named Bernadino if I hadn't spoken with him to book this appointment. Lawrence proceeded to say that I was frustrating him because I was implying his team was booking things without his knowledge! Strange, because that is precisely what happened. If you want a plumbing service that doesn't show up for their appointments, is defensive and hostile over the phone when you call to inquire than Sugar Bear Plumbing are your guys! read more

About an hour ago I was sitting in a drive through at a fast food restaurant on El Camino Real between Millbrae and Tanforan Mall. As the car in front of me pulled forward I followed suit. Suddenly a Sugar Bear van pulls up beside my car and the driver calls me a F-ing Idoit. Then he took it a step further and sat there staring at me as if he were completely out of his mind, and seething with anger. I will admit that the area given for vehicles to pass the drive through traffic is tight. However, I was in NO WAY impeding his movement, and was completely within the assigned drive through lane. I have never used Sugar Bear for a plumbing issue, and you better believe that I NEVER, EVER will. I would never want that guy in or around my house.. Beware!! The only reason I gave them one star is because it required me to do so in order to submit this review. read more
