horrible, NEVER comes on time and the ride itself is horrible. there would be days when it would to delayed by hours. and there's no way of tracking it unless someone is using the transit app while on the bus. the SCT sucks and needs to figure out how to address these issues read more

There is a lot to say about this system but I'll just say that it's wholly unreliable. They rarely ever run according to the given schedule, especially the 17 bus. Sometimes the buses don't show up at all. The best bet would be to give yourself an extra 30 minutes to an hour of travel time if you really don't want to risk being late. I recommend relying on your feet than the bus. read more

I can't believe Suffolk county wants to raise the bus fare again. And yet a lot of the bus stops don't have any seating for waiting passengers. All they care about is filling the silver lining in there pockets. But not really about the passengers. All us passengers need to boycott the busses. Let's all go on strike for a little while. Then maybe they will stop being lazy and do something about there being seating at the bus stops. Suffolk County transportation really needs a wake up call. We need to have the dollar vans in the city come out here and start transporting ppl. Then you'll see how quick they will stop being lazy and do something about the non seating areas at the bus stops. That has been an ongoing problem for years on years. They will quickly look to wheel and deal with the problem. Once they start loosing money. Suffolk county passengers. Let's all band together for this. United we all stand. If there's no passengers. Suffolk County bus transportation will surely shut down. They need us just as much as we need them. Don't ever think any different. read more

Things I remember from my times using the buses -they do not answer their help lines, nor do they ever accept complaints and reports about drivers by phone -buses come early and still leave you -I was driven past despite flagging the bus at a marked stop multiple times -They do not properly monitor passenger behavior. I took it as a teen girl and the bus drivers not doing anything about much older men following me around the bus and making highly inappropriate comments to me, at the time an underage girl I am very grateful to have a car now and hope to never have to use the buses again. I did notice the Section 8 apartment complex I grew up in was eliminated from the bus routes, and the nearest bus is over 2 miles away. I love how they just thoughtlessly stopped serving the low-income people that are least likely to own reliable cars. read more

just got off the s2 that runs patchogue to amityville....we got off on oak st. @ 10:49pm...bus driver refused my stop !!! my husband &myself are disabled!!! when my husband commented "he wished the drivers would learn their routes" the bus driver began cursing name calling and told us to smoke more crack you crackheads......i began videoing the remaining degradation...... i take suffolk transit every day to and from work........im mortified read more

I can't believe my old bus route-the 3C was actually eliminated for my area in Islip Terrace. How stupid to not consider the residents in this community who obviously depend on it. Yes, I had a regular stop on the corner of Rockaway st. & Connetquot Ave. It was a necessary convenience that no longer exists. I am still angry and frustrated when I observed today, 12/20/23, that even the once familiar bus stop sign had been removed. Who could imagine this nonsense would ever occur? Now I'm basically stranded, compelled to call a ride service, just to accomplish my errands. These include shopping trips and visits to the post office, bank, and etc. Of course, without essential Transportation, the ability to travel has been severely restricted. Now that the 3C is currently #17, I don't even have access to a mall or shopping ctr., as I once did. Yet, our only hope is that, someday soon this ridiculous nightmare will end and my bus stop will eventually be restored. Come on people, we have a voice! The bus usually comes before it's scheduled time (5-10 minutes before or late. Today it came 20 minutes late and now I am late for work. I understand small delays but there was no heavy traffic or insane weather conditions to make the bus arrive so late. read more

The bus. Ok, I'll admit it, I'm spoiled rotten and haven't set foot on public transportation since high school... many moons ago. The need arose where I had to be somewhere and my car was in the shop - the chica was in another State and I had time to kill. I googled the Bus thing online and found they run about every hour so I got my $2 and strolled up to the bus stop. The bus schedule online appears to be merely a suggestion and the thing showed up about 15 minutes later than the schedule online indicated- this would kind of suck if you had to rely on it to go to work or something like that - but for my purpose it was not a deal killer. I dropped my $2 in and grabbed a seat - the bus was surprisingly clean and the driver was nice enough to drop me almost on the doorstep of my location - so all in all an uneventful ride and it got me to me destination. Was it worth $2 - absolutely. Would I use it again? Probably, if needed. Give it a shot. read more

So this is driver thought it was a great idea to pull out onto route 231 with stopping at the stop sign on the street he was pulling out of. Just plowed right out into 231 and yes we almost hit the back of the bus and yes we could hear the screaming brakes of the car on the other side of the road as the bus was big enough to cross over onto the other side of the street. This driver needs to go back for a driver's ed course. read more

I don't understand how any company can get away with what the Suffolk county transit system does. 4 Mondays now I've shown up to take the s33 from Wyandanch to amityville Lirr at 7:05. First time the bus came 50 minutes late. I Thought ok maybe theres traffic. The second time, I showed up at 6:50pm and the 7:05 never came. I had to wait for the 8:05 (that also came about 10 minutes late) and the driver was a woman who basically just ignored me, and talked to two men in the front of the bus who I assume were close friends. Two weeks ago, I showed up at 6:45 and again, the 7:05 never came, had to wait for another late 8:05. Even now, I am sitting at the bus stop, got here at 6:40, and guess what? No 7:05 again. Mind you this is something we have to pay to use. I don't have this problem with any other line I use EXCEPT THIS LINE. You can't even track the s33 on the transloc app, and I'm starting to wonder if that's on purpose. Please do something to fix this read more

we have been for months trying to get our daughters phone number added the workers blame eachother. They have told me personally they are not computer people so i kept getting the calls. We went in person, begged and i am going into the hospital. Still no one can get my daughters number correct. They have caused me nothing but stress. read more

I ride bus S92 Monday through Friday. Usually on schedule first thing in the morning but when I wait for the bus in Cutchogue near Cox lane, it's always a crapshoot. Will they show? Will they be late? Almost always yes. Currently waiting now since 4:45 and no buses in either direction. The drivers seem like they don't even want to stop. So inconvenient and unprofessional. The bus service is OK and most of the drivers are friendly and run on time. I've been taking these buses forever and haven't really had too many bad experiences. However recently on Saturday's the bus I take to get home always runs 50 minutes late and gets to Patchogue RR by 5:35 and should do its 4:45 run to Bellport at that time then come back to do the 6:15 run to Medford but he doesn't do that!! Instead he takes a 15 minute break and combines both the 4:45 to Bellport and 6:15 to Medford into 1 trip at 5:50 then goes back to the yard from Medford at 6:45/6:50 pretending and acting like he's been on time all afternoon and did his job accurately and did nothing wrong. Something is terribly wrong with this and how he can get away with it every Saturday, It must be stopped or there is going to be Hell to pay!! read more

Every Saturday morning my husband rely on the bus to get him to work & every Saturday not only does the bus driver fly right past him & others waiting for the bus but yesterday the driver flew right through a red light. When I have to come get him to chase the driver, who clearly does not want to do their job, the bus is going so fast I am surprised nothing has happened. I understand everyone as a schedule but isn't the point of being a bus driver picking up passengers & bringing them to where they have to go? When we call to complain no one cares & obviously nothing changes. This has been EVERY Saturday for almost a year. Now my husband has to find some other way of getting to work on time since Suffolk Transit is unable to do their job!!!! Suffolk Transit has been my mode of transportation to some of my points of choice in Suffolk County for the past year-and-a-half. Given that Eastern Long Island is not renowned for it's public transit (being a suburb and all that), the SCT does a fairly respectable job. While they're occasionally late, for the most part, the buses arrive on schedule, or at most, 5 minutes afterwards. (Occasionally, they can arrive early... which actually is worse than them arriving late.) They're not fast or anything, but they aren't slow. They are neither utterly disgusting, nor are they the buses from Xanadu. They range from reasonably old to practically new - I've been on the former more than the latter. As far as comfort... it's a bus. You're not flying first class. Legroom ranges depending on your seat, but I've never had a problem with tight spaces on the bus. Never had a really bad experience on SCT - even when the bus broke down, they sent a new bus in a reasonable amount of time. The price is right (hey, depending on your route, you will save a boatload on gas), and the service is decent. I don't ask for too much, and this is no exception. read more

Tried to file a Dangerous Driver complaint. Website does not offer on line filing and points to 631.852.5200 which continually broadcast outgoing msg "The Office is now Closed, We r open 8am Mon thru Fri" regardless of when you call - including regular office hours. Their twitter account does not accept PM and does not answer tweets. They developed and advertise Rider app which does NOT work. Taxes and fares collected, Money Spent, People Paid, but nobody seems to be working or held accountable. read more

SCAT is Suffolk County NY accessible bus transit system. You have to have a disability to use it. It is a curb to curb service. On this day I took it to an area that I had previously walked by but never stopped at and did not know well. I arrived with the driver to a place that I did not recognize as the same place. There were no names on the businesses that I recognized. There were also no visible street numbers. The driver was also not sure and he called the office. Apparently they confirmed that this was the number. He said I had to get out because this is where I set the reservation for. I said that I didn't know where I was. I suggested a couple of nearby landmarks that he could drop me off at and he ignored this. I called another woman in the office who said she thought that I was on the wrong side of the shopping center and he should drive to the other side. He ignored this also, I heard the woman he spoke to say that she would call 911 to have the police take care of me..I got off and told the driver that I didn't know where I was. Their attitude seemed to be if you made a reservation for somewhere you have to get out. They did not seem to be particularly concerned if there was a problem, The fact that I was their customer did not seem to be the major factor. As stated you have to have a disability to use SCAT. I was also a senior citizen. I complained to the County Office of the Aging that said SCAT was going to call me back but I never heard anything. They contacted SCAT at least 2-3 times that I know of. The representative seemed as annoyed about the incident as I was. The SCAT website says they respond to complaints within 10 days. They never responded back to me at all. This is apparently how they treat customers. read more

If a bus shows up early, it should wait until it's scheduled time before moving on. I show up 10 minutes early and that's not good enough at times. Then there all the late buses. I've taken buses in St Petersburg FL and compared to here, it was paradise. Half the bus drivers care, but half don't. I look forward to putting Suffolk buses behind me. Oh yes, the app is not good either, but Suffolk doesn't run that. read more

The worst bus company, and I'm not exagerrating. If you reside in suffolk county and have to take a bus. Save up for the cheapest personal vehicle and work your way up to something you'd like. Buses frequently come late, drivers are rude, (some not all) customer service isn't open on the weekend to request information. I cannot stand it. The ONLY positive thing I'll have to say about suffolk buses is that the machines accept dollar bills. Other than that, I'd rather walk 2 miles a day than to constantly wait for a bus that doesn't arrive. read more

I did not rate this just for Yelpers. I think these guys/gals should be commended for putting up with some of the garbage that is is being dealt with from day to day whether it be weather, road hazards, traffic, or rude people (to name a few). They work very hard to make sure we get to our destination safely. So, SCTS, keep up the good work. And to those who ride the bus (whether be Yelper or Norms) give them a kind word; they deserve that much. 'Nuff said. read more
