Not normally in this area but we were staying at a local AirBnb. I needed some White Baby's breath for a photo prop. Did a quick search around and found Sue's. Staff was super friendly and was accommodating to my request. Generally this florist is a specialized shop for events and does not normally sell Baby's breath separately. Stopped by Sue's to get some get-well flowers on short notice. I picked what kind of bouquet I wanted from a series of pictures she had, but I thought my bouquet came out even better! The flowers smelled amazing and all looked very fresh. Sue's super cute puppy was in the store and kept me entertained while I waited for the flowers to be put together, so that was a nice bonus! For $35 it's more than a regular bouquet you'd buy from a store like Lucky or Trader Joe's, but I thought these were worth it and I'm always happy to support local small businesses. I've bought from bigger local floral stores like Swanson and Silacci but their bouquets tend to be more expensive. Overall I'm very happy with these flowers :) read more

I was looking to buy some pink roses and some other flowers to make a special vase at home. After placing my order, a middle-aged women who apparently is the owner of the shop brought the flowers to the counter and said she does not sell flowers unless yoi buy an arrangement. I said that I wanted to personalize my own vase for a very special gift. She agreed to sell them saying that this would be a one-time exception and made me clear she won't sell flowers by the count ever again. Since I have the flowers in hand I agreed with no argument whatsoever. To make more business, I ordered two ribbons and her helper (who barely spoke any English) charged the ribbons in my grand total. Immediately, the owner came to the front and scold her employee in their language and took the ribbons away. I asked why she did it and she said she need to make money with the ribbons (it seems she is very greedy). That just shocked me as you had no idea! I asked the employee to reimburse me the ribbons and she said she couldn't do anything . As if it was not enough, the owner told me in an very angry tone that next time she won't sell anything and basically kicked me out even after made business with her plus being scammed with the ribbons. Never in my life a business has taken paid merchandise from my hands. Since I didn't want problems for just ribbons I just said: "Look, you just made a lot of money right now," and she answered "well, where did you suppose you could find flowers right now, huh?" I end up paying way more money than elsewhere (yes, later that day I needed more flowers and was able to find flowers in Seaside way more cheaper and fresher) Her flowers were almost dead as you can see in the picture provided. She is a complete scam and is very rude. Never coming back to this establishment again. I do not recommend this florist at all. As a side note, she was literally screaming at other customer who was asking for a small, budget bouquet. Beware! read more

So this weekend my brother was getting married in Marina and we opted to use Sue's for the flower arrangements that were needed, what a bad decision that was! 12 Years in business and not one review on Yelp? Well ill have to break this spot in right in hopes that i can save the hardship and headaches of dealing with this particular shop. Our interaction with the owner was in a word "incredible" and not in a positive way. I couldnt believe someone with such horrible customer service manages to maintain a business this long, my guess is it really comes down to availability as Marina doesnt have too much to offer unless you want to go a few miles out the city to Seaside, Monterey, etc. We didnt out of convenience but wish we would have done so in retrospect. The constant promises from the catalog of "hope", beware the catalog! The very alluring and attractive professional photography of beautiful arrangements that you flip through and say "THATS WHY I WANT" and of course the over promises of "yours will be mo' bettah then that". The bride picked out a specific bouquet and she requested from this magical catalog and unfortunately because being a wedding and picking up fresh flowers the day of its need and use its a little hard to try and have something changed at last minute when its its obviously and completely NOT WHAT WE ORDERED! Not even close. Dispite the obvious inconsistency versus photos to finished product the wedding must go on like the ODER IN MY CAR? WUT! Im not sure how anybody can get flowers to smell like a septic tank but its sure takes a talented person to execute this as the funk from my car is still there the following day after having to transport the arrangements. People noticed immediately while their boutonnieres and corsages were being pinned on before the ceremony. How embarrassing! Think like this... you know when you put fresh flowers in a vase full of water, and after a couple of days you pull the flowers out... smell the water and it smells like funk... yes that smell. And the attitude on this lady is just unbelievable, we called in to confirm our order since this is a wedding and we would like to be on top of things to be sure nothing is over looked. When calling in Sue answered and we mentioned we were calling to confirm the order, her response... "Its not like its a big order, what do you want"? WOW! Its a small wedding and our total order was about 14-16 pieces, regardless of the order itself or the amount of money that was spent this is simply not acceptable. This was just one prime example of the lack of customer service offered by the owner of this shop but you can get the idea on how she treats her customers. Do yourselves a favor and stay clear of Sue and her shop, shes very inconsistent with your order, doesnt appreciate your business and will give you a ridiculous attitude thats completely not necessary. Spend your money elsewhere where its appreciated. read more

I always go to Sue's Florist whenever I am in town and wanting to pick up flowers for my relatives. Call ahead for orders to double check if they have certain things or not. I know my parents would always order graduation lei's here as well as bouquet of flowers during that time! Sue's Florist is a one woman shop and she is great! English is her second language, so be patient and explain to her what you'd like! She will get it done for you! My family from out of state ordered a small bouquet to be delivered to my daughter for her dance recital. Another florist from where my family is located used Google to find the florist in Marina. There was an obvious language barrier and when my daughter got the card with it, it was so bad we laughed. The flowers were mediocre at best. There was no hesitation in deciding who would make my bridal bouquet. My husband had been going to Sue for our entire love story, getting me flowers every time he got his pay check. Sue knew which flowers I loved vicariously from my husband. So she knew what would make me happy. We discussed flowers, and arrangements. And of course we talked about price. Sue was very fair and, I think, we were both happy in the end, especially since I was working on a budget*. The floral arrangements for the church altar were huge and gorgeous. Bigger than I expected, that's for sure. How I wish I could have enjoyed them longer. (We left for our honeymoon two days after the wedding. So we ended up pitching them before heading to the airport). The flowers in the bridesmaids' bouquets were a beautiful contrast to their dress color of jade. The lapel corsages for the mothers and my grandmother were tasteful and classy. Boutonnieres are boutonnieres in my opinion. In my case, though, I think I would've done away with the ribbon she put on my husband's boutonniere (to make it discernible from the other boutonnieres) but I'm not complaining. My man looked hot regardless. As for my bridal bouquet it was simple, unique and sophisticated. It was not superfluous of too much flowers. No frilly babies breath or filler greens for me. But it was a beautiful balance of my favorite flower the lily and of white rose buds, accenting my gown and my petite stature nicely. If you're looking for a great local florist to make your major floral arrangements, I recommend talking with Sue and seeing what she has to offer. You may be surprised. However, I will agree with the previous review of how it is difficult to talk with Sue. Other than English being a second language, it was just plain difficult. I was lucky because she essentially already knew me since my hubby went to her for two years already...and has still provided my bi-weekly flowers. * For the flowers at my reception, I ordered flowers in bulk.
