When we were finally called up, I was told he couldn't sit on my lap for the haircut because of "the board of cosmetology." When I asked whether this was store policy or actual state law, staff told me it was a legal requirement and that they could be fined if the board walked in and saw it. I contacted the Board of Cosmetology directly afterward, and they confirmed this is NOT a state regulation -- it's a policy this location has decided to enforce and misrepresented as law. I don't mind following a store's actual policies, but I do mind being misled about "the board" to justify it, especially after already waiting half an hour with a toddler. Very disappointing experience. If it's your policy, just say so -- don't blame a state agency for it. We won't be back.
