It was pretty quiet at 6 am but there was a table of silver-haired gentlemen sipping coffee and chatting, and there was local art on the walls. It seemed like this was a good place for the community. The food menu and baked goods looked good as well, though we didn't partake. This spot far exceeded my expectations for a tiny little town in rural Kansas. Five stars for that. The interior has maintained much of its original structure. In 1943 the restaurant opened for lunch and dinner and still maintaining its 50s vibe. I felt like I transported back to the 50s. The owner was serving the customers working behind the counter and out on the dining room floor. The service was exceptionally great. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I ate a grilled cheese sandwich with pickles and chips. I took potato soup to go for dinner later. The food was amazing. It tasted like a home-cooked meal.
