My review is only for the fish fry experience, I have not tried the normal menu…read more This was such a good fish fry! The fried fish was flaky and tender. The Mac and cheese was delicious, and the potatoes had a great flavor. Be warned that the initial line is super long and can stretch to outside, but then it is much quicker after you get through the first line. The servers were all super nice and the place had a great, welcoming atmosphere. I also appreciated that they let girl scouts sell cookies inside the restaurant! Will definitely have to come back for their other menu items.

I would literally shut down for a weekend and higher better servers or just train everyone so much more... It took a straight hour I mean a full hour to get a fried chicken sandwich and a burger with some cheese curds-that is crazy guys. Our server just seemed really uncomfortable and out of sorts. It felt super awkward. The old place was so much better!! I understand wanting a bigger location and I was excited because I'm in Hastings a lot and yes, you did need more space but we literally compromised service for space and that's not sustainable in a restaurant. I really hope this gets fixed because this place was a gem! My husband and I loved it. We would go all the time and get burgers and fried chicken sandwiches for like the last three years. I was excited over being in a bigger location, but yeah, the service was so awful and the food took so incredibly long that it just put a huge cloud over the whole experience. Also my loaded fries--the cheese wasn't even melted. Like, how could you even send that over to the table? I hope you guys do a lot more training and get people up to speed. There's no way I could come back after what I just experienced maybe in a few more months when people are more trained that was super frustrating. I also feel sorry for all the veterans and good old boys that used to go there every day. The old place had a way better vibe to it. This feels chaotic like people are confused. You have a whole bunch of staff that don't know what they're doing now and it's super noticeable. Fried chicken was delicious as always, but boy did I pay for it. Honestly, the wait time was just the worst part. That's my main complaint a full and I mean I'm not exaggerating here--an entire hour for one burger and one fried chicken sandwich that's insane and they didn't even offer to take anything off when it was all over. $90 for this experience and it was really frustrating. It was sad to us too because this used to be one of our favorite spots. Super bummed.

This is located in a neighborhood with a small parking lot or free parking in the neighborhood. There is a small patio and a few tables and chairs on the inside. I would plan on taking your food to go. The vibes are classic and there are a bunch of fun pictures from Minnesota history! My boys enjoyed looking at those! The service here was extremely friendly and laid back. Kind of like having family cook your meal! That's a hard vibe to find these days! The food: We got the rib and chicken dinner. The chicken was fried golden(this is pressure cooked in oil) made for a nice flavor. I wouldn't say it knocked my socks off but definitely solid pieces of chicken. I am here to rave about the ribs!! Oh my gosh!!! The bones just fell out! The meat was so tender and the BBQ had the perfect about of sweetness!! I will for sure be back for the ribs!!! The mashed potatoes were ok. Next time I would get the fries. We also had the chicken wings plain. Again, nothing over the top special. Did I mention how good those ribs were!? Haha we ended with some mini donuts which were your standard mini donut but were delicious! This place is definitely worth a try!!

Would definitely come back to try more items! Wait time is a bit long about 20-30 mins because they start making food after you order, very fresh! Store is a bit small inside but there are outside seatings as well!

She stated the hot roast beef is really good, so I changed my mind. It did not disappoint! I ordered the 1/2 serving. My friend ordered the hot turkey, which she said was fine. Decided to go back on the weekend with my husband for breakfast. We both really enjoyed what we ordered. Husband commented that it was truly like old school diners, his toast was "fully" buttered, not just a little bit in the middle and his over easy eggs were perfectly cooked. We loved the small town diner feel from the decor, the food, and the people. For breakfast it did take them a while to get to us and take our order but once ordered, food came out quickly. It was hot & fresh. Definitely will be going back.

The croissant was a solid square "bun", which visually threw me off but was SO GOOD. The sausage patty was HUGE. The hash browns were yummy, but $4.25 for a little side of them is a little steep. Hubby got the two polish sausage breakfast. He said it was outstanding. Not sure what coffee they use there but it was probably the smoothest black coffee I've ever had. Service was perfect and the overall atmosphere is great.
