There's ample street parking and easy entry points. The bar is huge! It takes up nearly half of the restaurant and has great views of the bay. The food is good with generous portions. We both ordered the fish fry, mine with a bit of Cajun seasoning. The fish is prepared in fork-friendly bites and was very tasty. The batter was light and stayed crispy until it was all gone. I'm not one to rave about coleslaw but it is good here. It has the perfect crunch and isn't over-dressed (I don't enjoy soggy, wet slaw). Lots of local taps as well, perfect for all of that food. But it's the service, namely Sylvia (Trixie) that makes this a solid stop. She was hustling, greeting everyone, busing food and dishes, all while singing along with the bar playlist. She checked with every table as she went along, never letting anyone feel forgotten or overlooked. As the crowd thinned she had a few minutes to chat with us - she's a friendly ball of energy and an asset to Skipper's. We'd come back and sit in her section anytime!

My wife's mushroom Swiss burger was amazing with great big chunks of sautéed mushrooms and absolutely fantastic homemade onion rings. My daughter demolished her mini corn dogs. I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich, which was fantastic, and the handcut fries made it even better. Our server, Marianah, was super helpful, friendly, and attentive. We are a little over a week into our trip around the upper Peninsula and this is the first restaurant we have ate at that we all gave an absolutely perfect score to! We will be back next time we are up north!

By the time we ordered our food it had been at least 40 minutes. It took another hour before we got our food! My eggs and hash browns were fine but my sausage links were like warm like barely cooked, and my toast was just warmed up bread NOT toasted! Bad experience for all of us. BTW other tables of people why came in the same time of just after us had their food ate and paid their bills before we got our food! Very unprofessional! You can make it however you want with flavored creamers and syrups." But everything about these stations/ markets is "good", from filling up the tank, grabbing snacks, drinks of every kind including making your own fancy iced coffee. Food options range from warm/ hot sandwiches (breakfast, lunch, dinner), personal pizzas (breakfast ones too with eggs, veggies, meats) refrigerated sandwiches to heat up in microwave, standard cold sandwiches, hot dogs, corn dogs, yogurt, fruit parfaits, meat/ cheese/ cracker items. Just about everything you can imagine or want. They even have a small area where you can sit down and eat inside. Typical other snacks/ candy/ chips but a huge variety. Even baked goods: fresh daily donuts, muffins, cookies + nicer quality packaged items. And all the other offerings of a gas/ service station for auto or traveling needs. We've been to several locations and the staff is always very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient; which is a good thing for the locals who go there regularly and have places to be! The environment, inside and out, are always pretty tidy considering the amount of traffic/ people it receives. But if anything needs attention, the staff is very gracious, pleasant and attends as quickly as possible. Prices everywhere are higher these days, but I'd say $-$$, depending on your needs and purchases. I did note a rewards program inquiry when pumping gas, so their customers have that option for their loyalty.

The pie was not drowning in sauce, thank you very much! The sauce was excellent! It was NOT sweet; just tomatoey with the perfect amount of oregano. The toppings were generous and very nice. The cheese application was just right, not too much and not too sparse. Here's where the pizza fell flat. The crust was a pre-made crust as evidenced by the marks on the reverse. This is really too bad as a house made, yeasty dough would have elevated this pie to be an exceptional taste experience as well as earning 5 stars. Service? Efficient but brusque. They are the real deal for pizza and they know it. Ambiance? This place is hopping on a Friday night. Put in your order NOW and be prepared to wait 45 min to an hour. Finally, I'd like to say thank you to Irene's Pizza for saying no to using pizza boxes! Instead, your pie is placed in a very nice food service bag with the top puffed out so it won't rest on the hot surface. This is a much less wasteful enclosure than the typical box. We high and mighty Californians can learn much about the use of the bag!

The Lee were no complaints with the BLT or the rootbeer. This was a disappointing, expensive roadside gimmick of a lunch. I'd love to have my $70 back.
