In all the time that I have lived in and around Johnstown, I had never been able to make it here…read more On a recent trip back home I met my sister and her family for a dinner. I'm glad I finally did to check this place of my to try list. From the outside, it looks like a typical hole-in-the-wall bar in the Johnstown area. I had no idea where parking was because every time I drove past here I would be doing it at a pace I couldn't see. I was happy to see that there was ample parking behind the street facing building. Entry from the parking lot takes you up stairs or a zig-zagging ramp that looks fairly new. This area is also connected to an outdoor seating area, can't really call it a patio. Or, you can enter from outside and take the stairs up into dining room. This is a seat yourself establishment. Once you are seated, you are greeted and given menus. What an extensive menu it is. The amount of items on the menu, if you haven't been here before, can be daunting. It took me a few minutes to just give it a once over. When the server came back around to take our drink order she asked if we needed a few more minutes, yes, we did. When she returned I was ready to go. I ordered the Pickle Chips as my appetizer and the Howler as my main. The Pickle Chips were served with a side of ranch for dipping and they were amazing. Perfectly coated, not too much and not too little. Dipping in the ranch cooled them down just enough to be enjoyable. Now, the Howler, is kind of an experience. The Howler is one of their signature burgers. Half-pound patty cooked to your liking. The set toppings on this burger is bacon, choice of cheese (American Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, or Pepper Jack), meat sauce, and a fried egg. You also can choose to add lettuce tomato onion and pickle. For mine, I went American for the cheese, lettuce, onion and pickle. There really wasn't any need for condiments as there was already so much on the burger to give it flavor. It almost comes off as either a breakfast burger or a chili cheese burger. Although I did as for medium, they overcooked it a bit. What was a nice addition here was the side. You can go with the traditional fries or go for one of many that don't seem to have an upcharge to it. Tater tots, slaw, applesauce, or nachos and one item for an upcharge, onion rings. I went with tater tots. Overall, this was an enjoyable meal. Our service was impeccable. Atmosphere was lively.

Visited the Westmont Johnstown Burger King on September 17th, 2022. First visit to this location…read more My verdict: unlikely to return. This Burger King, unlike so many fast food restaurants in Johnstown, does not have a touch screen kiosk. My plan coming in was to test different menu items and see what the costs are, especially after getting burned by inaccurate menus at the Scalp Avenue Taco Bell in August, 2022. Without a kiosk, I was dependent on the over the counter menu which was hard to read and difficult to locate what I wanted to find. Ended up with a small whopper junior meal - of course they didn't list how much extra cost was to add cheese to it. Paid about 50% more than I wanted. The beverage selection is likewise unacceptable if you are on a sugar or carb restricted diet. Only one choice - coke zero - was available to me. That had caffeine in it too - something else I'm not supposed to consume for medical reasons. The restaurant and restrooms were clean though and the food itself of acceptable quality overall - but not as tasty as competitors. There were no salads, no carb-free healthy food options across the board. Checking the carb values before I left, not one item has less than 19 grams of carbohydrates. Most have at least double that, as well as very high salt amounts. Overall I find it okay to eat there, but not a good value. It is certainly not a place where anyone with dietary restrictions should go.

I honestly can't believe I haven't reviewed this one yet. I have been to this one on numerous…read moreoccasions but for some reason or another I always forget to write a review. First off, this location is in the Westmont section of Johnstown. So don't go out of your way to come here. There is no need for that. The plaza that it sits in isn't a must to stop at so that makes this not a must to stop at either. Service inside and through the drive thru is pretty basic. Order, receive food. Inside they have a play area for kids, so if you have a little one and need a little downtime for yourself, let them play and have yourself a whopper. May need a bit of an update, but it's not necessary. Last visit here I used the drive thru and had a speedy experience. My order was prepared how I had asked and just so happened that I got lucky and received an extra free whopper because they mistakenly made two the way that I wanted it and instead of throwing it away, they threw it in my bag. I appreciate that and it was a great snack later.

This place is better now after their tear down/remodel? I pose that as a question because I am…read morestill trying to recall when they did so. If I remember correctly this was a Dairy Queen that just featured ice cream type fare and was only opened seasonally. Now after they did the update (or was it a tear down, do over) they offer all that a Dairy Queen can offer now. Meaning you can get your hot eats and cool treats as well as the Orange Julius drinks. Another good thing about this is that they have a drive-thru so you don't have to get out of your car if you are only here to grab and go. It is located off the main drag, so you will have to either traverse the residential aspect of the neighborhood or the somewhat congested small commercial row before you come upon this. Food is standard for the chain and staff seem to be polite. But I know how working at an ice cream shop can be...somewhat boring. With the warmer weather heading our way here shortly I am sure this will be one busy place soon.

As summer approaches by, im not gonna lie.... I get a hankering for some Dairy Queen!!!!…read moreFirst and foremost this place is conveniently located and generally pretty quick. I grew up loving this ice cream and as a kiddo it was the only ice cream shop i knew of. Fancier ones have come along and lets face it ice cream gets much better than this but ill always have the kid inside me rooting for some DQ The blizzard was a revolutionary concoction that all other ice cream shops have tried to mimic. Even McDonalds. Quite an accomplishment. I love the tropical blizzard with sweet coconut, fresh bananas and crushed pecans in their tasty vanilla soft serve. Also love their Buster Bars. Always have a stock of these in my freezer. The perfect summer treat. Their famous vanilla soft serve layered in mounds of gooey fudge, salty peanuts and dipped in a chocolate hardshell. Served on a stick. Always gonna be a fan of this place whos greatest traits are convenience and consistency.
