Having said that they do have a large selection of extremely tempting cakes! They also sell sandwiches and will make them up for you fresh if you can't see one you want. In fact everything is made fresh and their prices are very good. The nearby businesses particularly use them frequently at lunchtimes. Their mince pies at Christmas time are to die for but you'll have to be quick as these are also very popular. Parking is available on the street outside.

Pret claim to make efforts not to sell sugar & fat laden rubbish and it's pitched at a fair price as well. Again the truth on fresh is not so clear and they are experts at marketing & spin, so take the claim with a pinch or two of salt. Boring folk like me try to be vigilant when we have capitalism that rely on mass-produced bastardised food to cheapen it (to maximise their profits) and preserve food with chemicals that many can't pronounce, let alone know why they are there, regardless of the health implications for the customer. The fact is with these spivs that as long as their profits keep them comfortable they don't care. I opted for the Thai chicken soup in a pot, and a flat white coffee while my wife chose a meat, cheese & tomato offering that was heated under a grill and a cappuccino. I think the total cost was about £12. The Thai soup was really delicious and also piping hot. The portion size was decent too. One downside is that all the cutlery is plastic but I'm sure they are working on reducing plastic without marketing spin. My wife said her toasted sandwich was tasty. The food quality is ahead of similar sandwich shops, for instance subway doesn't come close in quality or choice. The seating in this branch isn't very comfy so you won't relax and I suppose as the place was crowded it was noisy. The staff struggled to serve the queue of customers and promptly clear away the detritus left by customers. Being crowded and having just one customer toilet also caused problems with a toilet queue for the bathroom and the bathroom needing to be cleaned more frequently which wasn't happening but then again it was peak lunch-time when we were there. It might also be a yawn moment but I'll chuck it in, I happened to be bumming around London when the very first Pret opened its doors there. I was one of the first ordinary punters paying my hard earned for their food. I vaguely recall a bright, sunny day, with lots of suits and photographers about, but thankfully they left me alone. I recall too that Mc D's apparently took a major shareholding in this business years ago. I do recall a couple of young people died after eating Pret food in the last year through peanut allergies - it's hard to spin your way out of a situation where kids die and that's why it's important to be vigilant and scratch below the marketing and spin surface.

It often gets really busy as it offers and attractive and healthy alternative to the nearby macdonalds and more expensive Starbucks and always looks clean and comfortable. I think some live music would help pull more people in from the shops! There are some nearby cash points but you can of course pay on your card here. All round, this is good place to stop for rethink of your shopping list.
