Don't go at lunch-time during semester; it's insanely busy.
Slowest EFTPOS machine ever. Easily the slowest 'station' in the sandwich-acquirement process.
On top of that, people who don't know the system get out of order. The first station (bread selection) regularly calls out for orders from the doorway (because of congestion further down the production line). People move up to avoid shouting and because of the poor placement of doorway / no barriers on the line, customers end up out of order. Each station ends up taking instructions from people 1-2 metres away down the line because of the congestion and out-of-order customers. Mistakes are made. And at the end of the queue you sometimes randomly end up with someone else's sandwich.
Go when it's quiet.
If a subway rep happened to read this:
- fix the EFTPOS machine (change banks, whatever, it's so much slower than any I've ever used)
- move the door further left, or put up a barrier of some kind to direct people
- tell the bread person not to take orders from outside encouraging people to walk up to the counter past those who've already ordered; all stations will run faster with less back-and-forth and less mistakes read more
