We stopped here twice recently while driving through to Oklahoma. First time, Butterfinger Shake…read more(or whatever they call it) and a Root Beer float. Mine was the float. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. The brand of root beer probably to blame. Coming back home, we stopped again. Same Butterfinger Shake, but this time I wanted something with chocolate in it and ended up with a medium Cherry Mudslide. First, I can't imagine getting a larger (although I probably will next time haha) because the medium is pretty big considering how much toppings are included. It was probably the best ice cream treat I've ever had. I seriously might have to drive back to Spangles to get it again (probably not, but definitely will find Spangles when I'm out and about again and order the same thing). One star off for how messy it was when it was handed to me. I'm in a car with all this goop flowing out because the put the lid on with cherries and stuff on the rim of the cup. I ended up basically making a diaper out of 100 napkins to protect myself and the car.

I tried the Minute Maid lemonade , and it was super fresh and delicious. The restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms , which is a big plus . And the ice cream was amazing ! Definitely a 5‑star experience and I'll be coming back

A true hidden gem in Kansas…read more The menu brings a vintage Route 66 vibe with a classic Kansas twist that makes the whole experience feel nostalgic in the best way. Everything is made fresh to order, so don't expect a quick in-and-out meal unless you call ahead. The wait is part of the process, and honestly, it shows in the quality. If you are vegan or vegetarian, there are a few things to be aware of. The menu can be a bit misleading. The grill top and utensils are shared with meat, and all fried food is cooked in beef tallow. That means fried items are not vegan or vegetarian. If cross contamination is a concern, I recommend letting the staff know so they can change gloves and sticking with options like a salad without meat toppings. The staff was extremely friendly and happy to answer questions, which made navigating the menu much easier. I didn't notice a microwave, and it was pretty busy during my visit, but it might be worth asking if the black bean or vegan patty can be prepared separately. There are gluten free and keto options on the menu. Others in my group really enjoyed their meals, and my salad was fresh presented well. I would definitely come back. I just wish there were more clearly food prepseparated options for vegetarian and vegan dishes so more people could fully enjoy what they offer. OH and if you dare, there is a food challenge with their habanero sauce!

The place gave me a fast casual eatery vibe but also a little feel of grandma's house because of this small glass showcase they had with some items in it. All food items are priced decently. I got the blackened fish with rice and fries and my husband got the Hornet Burger with fries. Both dishes were really good. The fish was cooked just right, moist and seasoned really well. The burger was also done perfectly with a juicy tasty patty. Fries were fresh and crispy...cherry on top!! Service was quick and the staff was very sweet. The restaurant was also very clean. They even have some of their own sauces and salsas for sale, plus some grab-and-go options which is nice and convenient especially for college students. Note - they also have a Do-B's reaper burger challenge which sounds fascinating. However, I don't ever think i will be able to try it ever Haha. To conclude - 5/5 for me.

It's a very cute smallish spot in a city with a surprising number of decent restaurants - but every city could use one more, right? They have a few tables in the dining room with a fast-food style ordering counter, plus three more tables in a patio area that blends seamlessly into the parking lot. Unfortunately, the promise of this new establishment didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the 1/2 lb Big Daddy Burger for lunch. The burger was shaped more or less like a meatball so while there was plenty of beef, it didn't come close to covering the bun so the proportions didn't seem to fit each other. They use homemade pickles which some people would probably really like, but I'm more of an old fashion Vlasic hamburger pickle kind of guy. On the plus side, you could definitely taste a distinct charcoal flavor in the meat, similar to what a burger at an Independence Day picnic should taste like. My curly fries were fine, but nothing more than what you would purchase in the frozen food section of the grocery store. My wife ordered the wings which are roasted, fried, and then thrown on the grill. It sounds like they went to extra trouble to make the wings, but they were on the small side (as many wings are these days - except for the giant wings at The Peanut locations in the KC area) and the taste wasn't noticeably different from the typical appetizer wings at your nearest sports bar. I've heard that pizza is really their thing and that is what we had hoped to order, if their pizza oven had not been on the fritz. They've only been open a short time, maybe a month or so, and this is the second time I'm aware of that their pizza oven has been non-functional. We plan to give them another chance on a future visit when they get their pizza oven up and running again. But until then, while the food was definitely OK, it's not a place I plan to rush back to.

Absolutely unacceptable experience at this Tropical Smoothie Cafe location at 1360 Walnut St…read more Kansas City, MO. The African American employee, Alonna H. ("Lonni"), was shockingly rude from the second I walked in. Before I even had a chance to speak, she snapped, "If you want food, we are out." I wasn't asking for food -- I was asking for a simple cup of ice water. She then stated, "Chipotle isn't given any water out?" Instead of basic courtesy, I was met with hostility and attitude. When I calmly asked for water, she claimed they weren't giving any out. Moments later, two other customers walked in and she flat-out told them the store was closed -- which it clearly was not. It appeared she was trying to shut down early and push customers away rather than do her job. When I questioned the unnecessary rudeness, she escalated the situation, saying she "could get rude" and then proceeded to point her fingers in my face. That kind of aggressive, confrontational behavior toward a paying customer is beyond unprofessional -- it's embarrassing for the business. The only bright spot was another young Hispanic employee who was kind, respectful, and repeatedly apologized for her coworker's behavior. She showed the professionalism that Lonni clearly lacks. One employee with this kind of attitude will absolutely drive customers away and damage a store's reputation. This wasn't just "bad service" -- it was openly hostile and disrespectful. I was given the manager's number (Nikki, 816-788-3235), but no one answers. If this is the standard of service here, customers should think twice before walking in. I won't be returning.
