I'm sorry to have to give Joe's such a poor rating, but I have been treated poorly there too many…read moretimes to not say something. I have purchased many pieces of equipment at Joe's over many years ranging from inexpensive replacement parts to whole units costing thousands of dollars and after my experiences of the past couple years I will never return. A couple years ago I brought them an old snowthrower that ran but leaked gas from the carburetor. I was clear about the nature of the problem and that I wanted it fixed. I went back after some time to get the snowthrower and it still leaked gas and didn't run any better than when I dropped it off. Despite paying Joe's more than $200 the unit was just as bad as ever. They kept it and after more time told me it needed a carb. I was angry about that, but at least they put on a new carb for cost. However, they should have done that to begin with since the problem was obvious and I believe the total amount I paid exceeded what I would have paid had they simply replaced the carb in the beginning. Instead, I had to make three trips, which meant getting a trailer at least one more time than necessary. Since I don't own a trailer that in itself was an inconvenience. I eventually purchased a new Ariens snowthrower from Joe's. This is a make I will not buy again. It is a large unit with supposedly a powerful engine, but I'm not happy with it. The controls don't work all that well and I find it awkward to reach over with my right hand to adjust the chute direction on the fly. Low range is too fast and consequently the unit rides over deep snow. Buy a Honda track drive instead! Joe's delivered the new snowthrower a little over a year ago and it was supposed to be all set to use. None of the adjustments worked well despite the fact the unit was set up by one of their techs. The auger continued to turn despite the fact I had released the handle...creating a dangerous situation. Other levers slipped out of position because, again, the adjustments were not done correctly. I told Joe's right off and at first they told me I had to make the adjustments. I was appalled! I had just taken delivery of this unit and they wanted me to correct their mistakes. They did eventually take it back, but the problems with the levers for the chute deflector persisted. I fixed those myself, but I should not have had to do that. After using the unit for a while I contacted Joe's and asked them if they would take it in trade toward a Honda track drive. I communicated with the owner who wanted pics of my snowthrower. I sent the pics and his response was that I should check with sales to see if any Hondas are due in. Really??? The owner didn't know what was coming in! I checked with sales and they said two were due in but were both spoken for. Regardless, I again asked the owner if he would tell me what he would allow on my unit if he took it in trade. I never received a response. I have been treated shabbily and I am done with them. I don't like patronizing big box stores and would rather work with a small business, but not when they treat their customers like they don't matter. I have received much better treatment at big box stores.

Absolutely awful customer service. STAY AWAY. They skipped picking up our trash 2 time in one…read moremonth. When called to tell them they haven't picked it up twice in the last two weeks they said "Well we bill monthly and pick up the same amount of trash" My wife explained we pay for weekly service and the "General Manager" told her "I'm not here to argue there are a lot worse things going on in the world this is just trash deal with it" then hung up on her. Just an awful service. Not worth the couple bucks a month you save over competitors UPDATE: After all this I called to cancel my service the man told me good and tried to say my wife was rude to him, I said she wasn't rude at all and he said "Well don't worry you aren't our customers anymore you might let your wife talk to you like that but I'm not her bitch" he said he would be by to get the trash they missed and his bins. He showed up and started throwing the trash out of the bins on my driveway so I went outside to ask, "You're taking the trash with you right?" He said "Nope I'm not taking it because your wife is a bitch" he refused to take the trash and blamed construction on my road for why they haven't been coming. He said "You wife is used to getting whatever she wants now she knows what it's like to not" totally uncalled for belligerent mysogynistic jerk!

Less than 1 star if I could!! The General Manager (Amy…read moreDuda) at the Woodstock VT branch was extremely rude when I raised a concern brought forth by a service tech (not a Dead River tech which I am sure played a role in her attitude) who was at my house over the weekend to fix my furnace and told me the issue that almost caused my house to burn down was most likely due to the tank not being filled regularly cause a large build-up of sludge which in turn burnt out all the electrical aspects inside the furnace - $800+ and tank needs replacement this spring, but thank god we still have our house and out fur-babies are still alive as we were not home when the issue occurred!! She was very belittling and extremely rude when I didn't use the correct terminology (I don't work in the fuel business). She even told me to research how sludge builds up in tanks, saying the tank not being full is not a contributing factor. So here is the research (special attention to the last line "This process is exacerbated by oil impurities, and internal tank rust, especially when tanks aren't kept full"): Sludge builds up in #2 heating oil tanks due to condensation, creating water at the bottom that fuels microbial growth (bacteria/fungi) that feed on the oil, producing waste that mixes with rust flakes, dirt, and oxidized oil to form a thick, sticky residue. This process is exacerbated by air exposure (oxidation), oil impurities, and internal tank rust, especially when tanks aren't kept full, creating ideal conditions for contaminants to settle at the bottom. It appears that both oil impurities and the tank not being full for months are contributing factors to the issue! I wasn't saying they were the only issue, but my research only strengthened my decision to change companies, as the lack of timely deliveries IS a factor in the issues we currently have! Please do better!! Customer beware: call the main office in Maine if you have an issue, as the Woodstock office is horrible!

I told Shane from the very beginning that I needed a 20' truck. He said no, a 16' would do because the ceilings are high. Not a very good practice to not listen to a paying customer. The 16' foot truck arrived and because the truck was too small I had to get rid of a bunch of my stuff and it took 2 days because of the extra time it took to load a smaller truck. Daniels moving took advantage of me and I would definitely NOT recommend them. The owner doesn't respect his customers.

I don't often write lengthy reviews, but there's a lot to unpack here and if you're considering…read morehiring this company, it's worth a read. But if you'd like the nutshell version... I wouldn't let them pack my groceries! Our family moved from FL to VT and between my wife, my brother and myself, we packed a 28' trailer full and everything arrived with no damaged items. We hired Daniel's Moving/NEMM to pack two 28' trailers and in the end, they caused an estimated $4k-$6k worth of damages to our belongings. It's "estimated" because we've yet to receive the final invoice for some of our belongings that are being repaired. In all, the Daniel's Moving/NEMM crew showed up to our house... We told the crew that we rented two 28' trailers and even though we were renting them by the foot, that we had no problem with them using every inch of both trailers, as long as our belongings were safe. They loaded boxes with RED arrows pointing up, upside down. Boxes with 4-6 "FRAGILE" stickers on them were packed on the bottom of stacks with boxes marked "HEAVY" on top. They packed things that we asked them repeatedly NOT to pack. A box with my Mother's ashes in it, along with her fragile electronics (iPhone and MacBook) was loaded upside down and at the bottom of a heavy stack. One crew member injured himself by accepting a bet of another crew member to lift ALL of my wife's weights at the same time, the owner (Fred Allard) called me asking why one of his guys was at the ER and then said that if my wife and I didn't write out statements, that we/our insurance could be liable. After all of this, Fred Allard told us that because we didn't hire them to drive our belongings to next destination, that they are not liable. When I requested that he just file the claim with insurance, he told me that it could take up to 6 months and that it would likely be denied. After a month, I reached out for an update and was told that he had been busy with personal things and that he would file it. A week later we asked for the claim number and that's when he began ignoring us and we haven't heard from him since.
