I bought my first car (a 2014 base model Crosstrek) from this dealership a year ago, and the folks at Subaru Montreal, particularly the salesperson Ilan Rubier and the finance woman Lucie, made it an easy, and even fun experience. I came to Subaru Montreal well-researched on the Crosstrek, and even though I was able to find the car cheaper elsewhere, I wanted to try my hand at this dealership because of the better reviews they had than others. Ilan was honest, knowledgeable, and didn't pressure me at all. I was able to negotiate a good price on an excellent used car, and Subaru Montreal was transparent and forthcoming enough that I was able to know the history of the vehicle and previous owner, and could buy without any real concern. A month later, I embarked on a 19,305 km roadtrip through western Canada, the U.S. (the South, the pacific coast, and mid-west), and even parts of Mexico. The car held up like a dream, and despite driving through rugged mountain scapes, desert, snow, and L.A. traffic, I didn't even have so much as a flat tire. It even served as a comfortable place to sleep with enough space to set up a bed in the back for those rainier/colder nights when camping wouldn't cut it. As others have pointed out, the nature of the car sales business can foster a dishonest and selfish culture (capitalism, amirite?), but the staff at Subaru Montreal have somehow found way to enjoy good sales while being able to sleep easy at night knowing they aren't swindling less auto-savvy customers. My GF's grandparents, for their 70th birthday, purchased a brand new Subaru Forrester from these jokers. First of all, the sales people were okay. They were friendly enough and willing to satisfy. But the grandparents had a 2002 Chevy Malibu they wanted to give to me, and THAT'S when things got complicated. The guys at Subaru Montreal offered to handle the whole transaction. First off, I had to scan my driver's license and give it to them, which I did, but lo and behold, the guy in charge LOST IT. So then I had to rescan. Of course, he also neglected to get the actual plates from the SAAQ, so I drove all the way from Ste-Julie to wherever they are (I think it's Park Ex, anway it took well over an hour only to fill out form after form and give the guy my driver's license AGAIN, and about FOUR TIMES. And when I went to the SAAQ in Longueuil, I found out the forms had been completely bungled and were worthless and that I would have to get them filled out AGAIN! Hello?!!? Anyway, I call Subaru Montreal and the guy says NO PROBLEM, I'll just do the forms and Puro all that stuff to you and you can GO BACK TO THE SAAQ -- WHAT ??!?! Hello, I work further down the South Shore, I have a 6-month old baby and NO TIME for that stuff, especially if I now have ZERO confidence that when I actually do take your papers to the SAAQ, that they will be all right. So the guy agrees to send me the whole deal -- papers, plates, everything -- by express mail and I should have it Saturday morning. Which is good because on Sunday the temporary slip they gave me will be EXPIRED and I will no longer be allowed to use my own car. So I say okay. Guess what?? He calls AGAIN a half-hour later, saying he forgot that he needed the car's registration to do all that, he forgot!!, and he will have to Puro the papers and then I will STILL have to go to the SAAQ myself. Wow, what a deal! Well, Saturday comes and NO PAPERS. Sunday neither! I guess Puro's closed on weekends, and as it happens, SO IS SUBARU MONTREAL -- or maybe it's just the genius we've been dealing with who's not in. So we wait until Monday morning to call him back, but as it turns out, our genius only comes in at 10 A.M.!!! Who the HELL is in a customer service capacity and comes in to work at 10am!! Not only that, but he proceeds to basically tell us to go F*** ourselves, that we're going to get the papers via mail and go to the SAAQ -- BRAVO! And when we demand some kind of compensation -- time and gas alone spent on this fool's errand are considerable -- he LAUGHS AT US!! So we call the General Manager, hoping for SOMEONE in that rathole to have some sense, but he basically tells us the same thing -- F*** off! We go up to Subaru Canada itself, who kindly inform us that since the vehicle in question is not a Subaru, that we cannot lodge a complaint. WAY TO GO SUBARU MONTREAL AND SUBARU CANADA!!! read more

Met Mark Gouterman there who actually listened to what I was looking for and not just waited for his turn to talk so he could push the car he wanted to sell. Mark knew his stuff, wasn't pushy, was incredibly helpful and helped me find the right car. My Forester met all my criteria and Mark at Subaru Montreal exceeded my expectations. If you get your car serviced there. Guillaume David always speaks as if he new without a doubt what he is talking about. When I dare contradict him of the opposite or simply ask deeper questions, he said i didn't know how to use my car. 5 min later he says "well i'm not the technician! I don't know! I just learned this morning how an STI works!". He interrupted me everytime i spoke to him. You have to beg him to verify his facts. He tells me i need to order an entire wheel lock kit just because my key is broken. I tell him it is possible to order just the key. Of course, it's a big "no no!". He says in 25 years of service, its the first time he hears that. Lady next to him tells him that it is possible and he goes "well apparently it is possible." Was that way every visit. You need to be ignorant and never doubt him if you want a good service from him but at the same time waste your money. The big overweight guy at the car rental service would also need some customer service formations. I called if i could have a car while mine got fixed. He tells me one should be coming back around X hour. I went to dealership to see if the car was there and not to annoy the guy too much on the phone. He wasn't there (but sadly Mr.David was). I asked him for a car. And then the big guy finally comes back, Guillaume and him starts talking to each other. Big guy turns to me, says with an attitude "I told you there was gonna be a car around X time!". The big guy ask Guillaume about some code. Guillaume says there is none, i have to pay for it. I then ask the big guy what was that about? Is there a case where i wouldn't have to pay? He says again with a big attitude "no, no, no" as if i hurt his school girl feelings or something. They just spoke in my face, he took me for an idiot? Guillaume was the one to explain to me that if my car bill would be let's say 1500$, he would feel less "cheap" to pay for the car but since it's not (was a check-up or something), i'll have to pay. I also work with customer service daily. Subaru montreal gets high rating because they are just welcoming and perhaps good to do the conversation? But you better off being ignorant and perhaps never ask questions too much and just do as they say. I started to like 1 new guy at one point because he actually seemed truthful to me but he quickly got fired... how about that.. read more

Took my 2013 Outback in for service. Had 4 items to repair and all 4 were claimed to be done and 3 were either not done and charged or their mechanics are incompetent. Fuel door latch was sticking, fuel door did not close flush with body, when cold, car idles roughly and rear lights did not work. After supposed repairs, fuel door was not flush with body, fuel door latch was still sticking, car computer was updated but car still idled roughly but Hallelujah, the rear lights did work.
