I returned this afternoon from my new favorite, Subaru repair shop. And no it was not a dealership. It was Subaru Bob. I have lived in PA, NJ, NY, ME MI, NV, CA, NM, GA, FL, and a few more places in between. I have never come across a more honest, reasonable, fair, and just downright good guy as Subaru Bob. Two weeks ago I was at the nearby dealership and was told that I would need to have the rear sub-frame replaced on my 2013 Subaru Outback to the tune of almost "$2,200.00." Since the car was still driveable, I figured I would check around on pricing from the independent Subaru shops. Subaru Bob was the first person I contacted based on his reviews. Bob got back to me with a price of $960 installed. I should have just said OK right then and there., but I decided to shop around a little more. 1 1/2 weeks later most of the other shops did not even get back to me. I call Bob yesterday, He had checked on the part and was able to get it in a day. I was able to arrange to have AAA drop it off at Bob's shop late yesterday afternoon. I was able to pick my car up at 1:30 pm today. I tried giving Bob an extra $100 for getting the job done so quickly. Imagine my surprise when he wouldn't take it. He also replaced the piston/dampener arm in my glove box and charged me $10 for a used one. He did accept an additional $10.00 for installing it. I have a 2002 Outback that had been needing major engine repairs to seal oil leaks at the valves and cylinder heads. I got several quotes from other places that specialize in Subaru. They were all so expensive that I let it go for a year and a half. Subaru Bob was able to do the work for 30% less, so I was finally able to get it done, which it needed badly. While it was in the shop he found that the transmission fluid was leaking pretty badly. He could've really gouge me for that, but he only charged a little bit extra. Very grateful. He returned my vehicle with lots of extras repaired, like headlight restoration, replacing a brake light and fully detailing the exterior. He even pressure washed the engine top side and underneath, to get rid of all the old oil residue. None of the other shops were going to do any of that! A week later, I was refilling the gas tank, and I saw that he had cleaned the inside of the gas cap door, which had become very dirty and grimy. That really made me smile. Details. I can love my car again! This guy just goes the extra mile, wants you to be happy, and doesn't believe in charging more than it really needs. And he's a certified Subaru mechanic, so he does actually know what he's doing, not just cutting corners. He explains what's involved, and he tells you what it will cost to fix it up front. If you have a Subaru and especially if you need major work done to it, I highly recommend Subaru Bob. I brought him this really used up clunker...I wanted an old Outback so bad and I settled for one I really shouldn't have. Well, thanks to Subaru Bob, who was willing to do reasonable work to the car (meaning it wasn't worth replacing with brand new parts--he used a lot of used parts and it kept my cost way down). They say it's easy to find a good mechanic that isn't honest, or a bad mechanic that is; however, I believe Bob is definitely a good and honest mechanic. My 2001 Forester had leaking head gaskets amongst other minor issues. Bob told me it would take about a week and proceeded to text me two days later saying it was ready to be picked up. The car runs perfectly now, I'm incredibly relieved that everything is fixed up. He gave me the repairs at a very good cost as well. If you're looking for someone who specializes on Subarus, Bob is the only guy you should go to. read more

Subaru Bob is the best Subaru mechanic on the planet. He worked for twelve years at a Subaru dealer and now has his own shop in Lawrenceville. I had a flood car that I thought was un-repairable and he made it brand new. He is a great guy and his prices are fair, he is honest and his knowledge of Subaru's is off the charts! He treated me well and kept me abreast of all the details of the restoration of my flood car. If I ever do this again, he will be the guy that does it for me.
