If for some reason epically fantastic Massaman curry just isn't your thing, the Panang prawns, the Thai Red Curry and the cashew-spring-onion stir fry all got raves from our group. So much so that one member proclaimed his Red Curry dish the best Thai food he's ever had. Clearly they've got it going on over there at Thai Sarocha, I wonder if they'll ship to the US :-)

Small and family run with a nice atmosphere. I have been on a few dates here when I first got with my partner and it is a nice intimate place to get to know someone. The menu is small but all the food is good quality, especially the Thai soups. It is one of the cheapest Thai's in Southampton but one of the best quality. A very decent Bishop's Leap Sauvignon began the meal and we had a full menu of tempura vegetables, fish cakes, prawn laksa, prawn yellow curry and 'weeping tiger' beef on an iron griddle that would have fed four. All were excellent - I haven't had a better laksa even in Asia. My only criticism is that I would have preferred the beef underdone. On a later occasion, I had three absolutely delicious dishes - rice paper rolls (with prawns), a sea bass curry and banana fritters and coconut iceceam. And the Bishop's Leap Sauvignon. Perfect! A bland dish that was at least able to be eaten, though not enjoyed. The decor is beautiful, and one of the main reasons we chose to eat at this place. Such care in setting surely means care in the food, right? The answer at Thai Orchid is no. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and would never eat here again. A comfortable restaurant with friendly helpful staff, usually fully booked at weekends. The menu is a little bit different to most Thai places - I think this is because it's probably more authentic. If you've eaten in Thailand, you probably won't be disappointed here but might want to ask for things a little hotter. Reasonable prices and nice wines. A good place for a cosy date or meal with the parents.
