I feel that I've found that here…read more My first visit with Jim Kokkinakis included a thorough eye exam and discussion about my eye concerns. I have had previous surgeries to my eyes which have given me dry eye syndrome, conjunctival scarring and scleral thinning. I cannot wear normal contact lenses. The last time I tried it was very scary... I literally had to run to a chemist for eye drops and then to the bathroom to take them out because I had intense pain and pulling sensations. I have tried medications including restasis with minimal improvement. My last hope is scleral lenses which are extremely expensive customised lenses that trap a layer of fluid between the eye surface and the lense. The fitting process is intricate and takes a patient person, and although it's not over yet I'm hoping for a positive outcome. Either way I appreciate the dedication of the Eye Practice and I highly recommend them. (They have some nice frames too) :)

Highly comprehensive with their eye checks. I am an Ortho K client, which basically means I wear hard contact lenses at night, that prevent my vision from getting worse, without having to wear contacts or glasses during the day. The staff at the Eye Practice explained to me thoroughly what the process involved and I have been satisfied tremendously for years. Great range of both sunglasses and prescription glasses but most importantly very professional and genuine service.

All the higher end glasses shops are stocking Tom Ford at the moment and so they should, his sunglasses are amazing, some of the best designs I have ever seen. Another great brand Eyeballs are offering is Mykita who are a German brand providing extremely funky, Hi tech yet well made eyewear. Lindberg is another brand on offer, which is a little more classic and demure, but none the less stylish. A great shop.

Despite living in Melbourne, I now have my annual eye check at Eyecare Kids during my annual visit to Sydney. Further details: The owner of Eyecare Kids, SooJin Nam, is an exceptional optometrist who is friendly, expertly skilled, provides a thorough examination and clearly explains the outcome. During a conversation with her, she noticed a problem with my right eye that I was totally unaware of. She suspected that I had a rare defect and her subsequent thorough eye examination confirmed her suspicion. She then referred me to a specialist neuro-optometrist to identify whether, as she suspected, that I was born with the defect and therefore needed no further treatment or whether the defect had developed recently, which would need specialist treatment. SooJin also provided advice of the highest quality on how to minimise deterioration of my existing macula degeneration problem and of the best multifocal lenses for my eyes. Over forty years of visits to optometrists, none have ever detected the rare defect in my right eye. Similarly, none have ever provided the high quality macula degeneration advice that I received from SooJin Nam. In addition, none have explained the differences in performance for the range of multifocal lenses available. I have seen how well SooJin interacts with children and I am sure that her other optometrists have been appointed because they provide the same high quality service that she provides and sets for her clinics. They were super friendly and helpful in describing to me the different types that there was, i opted for the 1 monthlies for peice of mind of just put my contact lenses in once a month !! I live close to Hurstville & work in Alexandria now, but I've kept coming back to this same optometrist every 6 months for a check up and a new batch of contact lenses . You'll have to meet the staff for yourself to know what i mean i when i say that i look forward for my 6 months check up or even don't mind popping in & saying Hello when I'm in the westfeilds for something else !! Rocked into this shop at 10-45am looking for an impromptu eye exam on a Sunday morning. I was…read moresuprised that they had staff available. (I noticed blood in my eye on Wednesday morning and it hadn't receded so thought it better to be safe than sorry). There were two shop staff. One took my details and medicare information, and asked me to come back a little-after-11 when the optometrist would be available. I came back around 11-15am, and whilst I had a little bit of wait, standing around whilst the two staff served other people glasses/prescriptions, when they were free they acknowledged that I had been waiting and informed the optometrist that I was waiting to be seen. The optometrist herself was extremely sweet and friendly, and made sure that I was comfortable with each of the tests she performed. She was reassuring and explained the equipment and what to expect before she conducted the tests (e.g. one of the tests is a pressure test where the machine blows air into your wide open eye --- she warned me what to expect so I wouldn't freak out --- yes I still freaked out hahaha, but at least I was ready for it). I never knew that optometrists had such sophisticated equipment (I went through 4 separate machines for tests), and it was great to get a macular check at the same time. The final high resolution eye scan cost $75, and isn't covered by medicare, but the rest of the standard testing was all covered. I found the optometrist very skilled, reassuring and informative. It meant the whole experience which could have been daunting was instead very straightforward, calm and easy. If you are worried about your eyes and need a check up, I would gladly recommend visiting this OPSM, it was an enjoyable experience and the staff were attentive and professional. They also stock a wide range of prescription glasses and frames.

As someone who has worn glasses for close to 40 years, OPSM is pretty familiar territory to me…read more Back in the day, OPSM was really the only choice when you needed glasses. There were a few independent eyewear suppliers around but only OPSM had a big enough range of frames to make sure you could get something that didn't make you look like a total dork (which was much more difficult back then). Having said that, I did spend my entire childhood looking like a total dork... but that wasn't because of my glasses, that was just me. These days there are competitors to OPSM. Some of them are cheaper. Some of them are faster... but you know, for the total package of price, quality and service, you just can't go past the old faithful. The range is good. The service is good. They give free lifetime adjustments (which is great when your chosen sport involves being hit in the head with a metal bar). The in house optometrists have done my eye checks since I moved to Hornsby 20 years ago. Now they do my kids eye checks as well (fortunately, all normal... my short sightedness has been cancelled out by my wife's long sightedness resulting in perfect vision). I buy my frames and lenses here. I still look like a total dork but its not because of my glasses. Its still just me.

Their optometrist offered me to get more advance test for glaucoma, the invisible eye desease, cost $ 60 that not yet cover either Medicare or held fund such HCF, that included health result of your retina. I know, sounds crazy right? Well apart from that, sales reps are very professional and they offer the best service by my opinion to help you finding the best available frame or sunnies that you love. I would recommended this shop to everyone.
