I remember the first moment when I spoke with her, and from that one phone conversation, I knew that she and I would not only share the same vision for photography (how I would like my pictures to be captured and how she captures photographs), but also become friends!! our first phone conversation was about four months prior to the wedding, and I had not done anything to plan for it! I am a busy resident physician, and I also wanted to plan my own wedding, but I didn't know where to start! So on that day, in between me seeing patients, Emily and I had a really brief phone conversation, where she said three simple words, "I got you!" Since that fateful day, she has not given us a dream engagement photo shoot (at the very beach in which my husband, and I fell in love with in Malibu, the El Matador state Beach!) but also our very special moments on our special wedding day! In the middle of me getting pulled in different directions even on that wedding day... the minute she walked in with her team, I felt sense of calm and comfort, knowing that she was there to make sure that even though I couldn't remember everything that was happening that day because it was so busy, I trusted that she would be able to make sure I could remember those details later on in photographs! Aside from her warm heart and truly genuine personality, her work is fantastic! My husband and I have a very particular vision and preference for the type of photographs that we would like, and she fits that and more! If you look through her portfolio on her website or on her Instagram, you can see the brightness that she exuberance in her own personality onto her art. Marisa went above and beyond all expectations we had in a wedding photographer. Our wedding was nontraditional - it was a small, intimate beach wedding and my wife and I had not extensively planned the timing and details of the ceremony itself until speaking with Marisa. Aside from planning the right timing for the events to happen so that the lighting was just right, she gave us so much direction and advice on other aspects of our evening that we had not even thought of, and it paid off. Her and her husband have an amazing energy - they are very calming, fun and organized, knowing exactly how to resolve potential issues and help coordinate on the fly. That's what is really valuable about the photos to us, and something I am not sure every photographer can get you. She is also a consummate professional. She is efficient and purposeful-she makes sure she captures all the important moments without consuming your whole day with photos. She provides clear instructions, which is helpful as the wedding couple, but is even more helpful when you are taking family photos with several different combinations of people. Emma is also so kind and lovely to be around. I normally do not like having photos taken of me, and it can be uncomfortable to be in that many photos, making serious faces, and allowing someone in during a highly emotional day. Emma makes that whole process comfortable and enjoyable. You can tell she has a real passion for doing this and truly enjoys getting to know the couples. Her friendliness and confidence put you at ease. This is a really important point-you spend as much time with the photographer on your wedding day as anyone else! But she was in charge of getting most of the groom and groomsmen photos at the beginning of the ceremony, and was such a pleasure to work with. From the beginning, Victoria was highly responsive, answered all my questions and even set up a call to walk through shoot day so we were prepared. She has a detailed preparation guide on her website which was extremely helpful as a new parent. The photo shoot took place at her in-home studio and it was a very comfortable, relaxing environment with everything you need for a newborn photo shoot. She has an abundance of props and the cutest outfits and accessories to choose from for each photo. Unfortunately, my baby wasn't happy this day, but despite the chaos Victoria was so kind and understanding and she worked her magic (and patience) to capture some amazing photos of our little one in between all the fussiness. She really went out of her way and even extended the session time to allow us time to calm, feed and change our baby so we could get the best photos possible. She was also so meticulous and detailed - from the props to the lighting to the baby, she made sure each element was in just the right position and orientation for the best photos. I highly recommend Victoria, and I will definitely recommend her to all my friends and family. I couldn't have asked for a better photographer to take our baby's 1st photos.
