I signed up for a dog contest on an IG ad where I would get a 14" portrait of my dog and I. Of…read morecourse I "won." They called me to discuss my dog and what these pictures of my dog would mean to me. They were adamant that I have to complete the session within two weeks. I also put my card down for a $200 deposit. I received several texts and emails regarding my session with the information I would need to locate the place and what to expect. Parking was easy especially since my session was at 6pm. It was easy to find. They provided a room for me to change and I was able to wait on the lobby with all the other contestants who had "won" along with their dogs. The photographer was fantastic!! I forgot his name but he had long curly black hair. He was so patient with my dog and knew how to calm him down. He was great with giving me directions and telling me how to pose. I waited for my portraits for about 30 minutes. Then an art director came and explained the different kinds of portraits available. There was definitely a component of selling that i particularly was not interested in: we are talking about dropping a minimum of a grand. I just wanted my 14" portrait. Once they found that out then they wanted to offer me some digitals and a frame that would total the $200 deposit. Again, I wasn't not interested and we proceeded with my 14" gift. The pictures were stunning!! I loved how I looked and how my dog looked but I just wasn't interested in spending money on something I had won. I knew this going into the session. I did a Reddit search and came across so mamey people's experiences so I was prepared for the sales pitch. As long as you know what you're getting into, then do it. At minimum they will try to keep the 200 dollar deposit. So just know that going in. You will be pleased with the final result. The bottom line is, how my gf are you willing to spend.
