This is my kind of training gym. Finally, a place where I can go for personal training and not…read morefeel like I'm being judged by all of the meatheads in the room. The trainers are highly motivated professionals who will keep you on task and make you passionate about improving your health and lifestyle choices. Not only will they structure, develop, and modify (as appropriate) a workout routine that is adapted to your specific bodily needs and fitness level; they also emphasize nutrition and will work with you on restructuring that part of your life to meet your overall fitness goals. I personally work with Annie Hon, who is fantastic. She will push you hard, but at the same time, she is gifted at identifying where your limits are and won't push you so far that you get frustrated and give up on what you came there for in the first place. As far as the facility goes, it's extensive (2 floors), clean, and spacious for you to work out comfortably without feeling like you're training on top of the other clients who are working out at the same time you are. The only downside is that you cannot use the equipment at their facility when you're not in a training session. (At the same time, this restriction is also a good thing, because it keeps their facility not-so-crowded -- so that you can maximize your use of all the equipment during your training sessions there.) So, to keep up with the training program developed for you by R.A.W.'s trainers, you'll need a separate gym membership, or access to a gym elsewhere. To that end, it can get a little pricey. But in my view, your health, longevity, and wellbeing is worth it.

I was advised that there is reciprocity and if you are a member in the US, you can use the facilities in HK, as long as you have your card. When you find the location, take the elevator down one floor to the basement, step out and you walk right into Anytime Fitness. You have to have a membership card to swipe at the door to gain access or according to their front door, there is someone there to help you with questions about their gym starting at 11AM most days during the week. Anytime Fitness is basically a gym that is at your disposal 24 hours a day. I am familiar with Anytime Fitness in the US and I understand their niche, but I was kind of blown away simply by the cleanliness and bright decor of this space. There was barely anyone there, so how great to have this coveted spot to work out in. Antonio (a senior trainer) was helpful to me in answering questions and showing me around. Although I go to a competitor gym for my own gym needs in Hong Kong, know that Anytime Fitness is indeed in Hong Kong (Antonio indicated that this location had been open for about a year and also there are three locations in Hong Kong) and worthy of a peak.

With all the great amenities that comes with the PURE name, CWB location has one thing working to their favor against other locations, space! Their entrance is located on the 16th floor of the Lee Theater Building, PURE is actually 3 levels!! The first of the 3 levels, the top floor, is mainly reception, lockers, and the food bar. The reception is always super nice and friendly. I request certain lockers in this locations because there are so many lockers, I've just grown accustomed to certain ones. I find the lockers closer to the showers just easier to access and convenient. The staff here never have an issue with helping me on that. The locker room here are equipped with TVs, phone charging stations, work out clothing (including socks) and a good number of showers. There is never a need to wait for a vacant shower stall. The sauna and steam room here is a bit on a small side, but still very clean and accessible. The food bar is tended by some nice staff members that can mix a good shake for you after an intense workout. They also have some nice salads on offer along with wraps and small sandwiches. All fairly healthy choices at a reasonable price. One level down, you will find yourself on the floor where they have one room for their cycling classes and another room for one hour classes with instructors. This is also the section where you will find the boxing training available to you if you'd like. On the last level, you will have your weights and treadmills and cross trainers. There is never a wait for machines here which is great!! I also love that very rarely, you will have someone working out RIGHT next to you. I love the space! There is also a space for you to do your stretches in peace without people walking back and forth. PURE in CWB is ideal for those who want to get a serious work out in your day without feeling cramped. LOVE!

This is the ultimate cardio workout! I consider myself to be quite active and exercise regularly,…read moremore focusing on strength training. But whenever I go to XYZ, my heart takes a beating haha! Love taking Gigi and Jess's classes at XYZ! When you check in at the front, they quickly provide you with your cycling shoes (rental included in each ride) and a locker key. I personally like taking the bikes on the side so that I can follow the moves better, especially when we need to be in sync with the music, "left right left right". The class style is quite similar to Soul Cycle, dark room with club-like lights, about 5 or 6 rounds in, there is a track with dumbbells. Who said you could only work legs and not your arms?!

I was never a big fan of spin studio. I'd rather ride a bike at Shatin than staying indoors with some overly competitive gang fighting for the highest scores / fastest records, well, ironically on their same respective spots. Until I heard about XYZ, obviously. That becomes a new rule of mine recently - if a business has been mentioned by three or more friends around me, I have to try it. And as a disclaimer, I've been here for try-out class only, although I'm very likely to come back as a regular. First of all, hell yeah it's a like clubbing at Play or Volar, but with both of your feet on pedals. When the class started and the light dimmed, the vibe was really exciting, but minus the competitive bs. It was kind of relaxing in its way if you think of it, as it was my very first time ever been to a spinning class. And 5mins in? I felt like dying already. Muscles were burning, and THEN our dearest instructor Kat started getting us to double our spins. Kat was amazing, and made me realized the instructor was the most important element in the class. She motivated each and everyone of us just enough to keep our head above the water, but not to drown us with anything too harsh. I was just able to keep up an hour long lesson, (and I said I'm not the most athletic person!), but looking back from the second I started, I didn't stop pedaling at all for an hour. It made me felt really good, and surpassed any instructor-based fitness classes I have ever been.
