The customer service here is AWFUL! The lady dressed in black who sits behind the register and is on her phone while people need help has no basic knowledge about the jewelry policies at this shop. My partner and I came in to return a jewelry piece he surprised me with as a gift. I didn't even open the clear jewelry case since I immediately knew this septum ring was too large for me to wear. We clearly told the lady behind the register that we were there to exchange or return the piece. She tells us to wait for the piercer since others were waiting ahead of us. After waiting for over a half hour, I asked again, "do we really have to wait for the piercer to return this piece???" She said the piercer handles the jewelry. We were there for a total of at least 50 minutes! The piercer finally comes to us and tells us that jewelry cannot be returned after it leaves the shop. Why didn't the lady sitting behind the register give us this information as soon as we told her why we came in to the shop, instead of making us wait for almost an hour to just be extremely disappointed after speaking with the piercer? This place sucks, no respect and no consideration for patrons' valuable time. I have never been to a tattoo and piercing shop where the person at the register doesn't have basic knowledge on the shop's jewelry "policies" Back story: my partner goes in to this shop to surprise me with a septum ring. Another piercer helps him with picking out the jewelry. Bless my partner's heart but he knows nothing about piercings. He shows the piercer a photo of what I usually wear and somehow they pick out a piece that's triple the size of what I wear. The piercer never told my partner that jewelry is final sale. This place is an absolute disappointment and not helpful at all! Buy your jewelry somewhere else and go to a shop where everyone in the establishment values you as a customer! read more

I decided on a whim on my birthday I'd get my ears pierced. And I'm so glad I found studio city tattoo. I called to ask if they take walk ins and they did so I headed on over. I'm a full grown adult but I was scared to get my ears pierced but the whole staff was so amazing everyone greeted me kindly and I had Pearla as my piercer and she was so calm, kind and patient with me. Another awesome trip to Studio City Tattoo! I came in for a PA, my third piercing here and as always the experience was great. I don't always see the same staff when I visit, but no matter who's there, the receptionist is always super nice and helpful. Cat was my piercer this time and she was amazing. She hyped me up, made the whole process as pleasant as getting a needle through your urethra can be lol, and walked me through everything, including aftercare, which I always appreciate. I can't say enough good things about Cat and, by extension, this shop. This is also the second or third time a piercer here has refused a tip, which is incredibly kind especially in a job where tips can matter a lot. It really shows how much they care about their work. If you're looking for a place to get a piercing, THIS IS THE ONE. You can't go wrong with anyone here. Especially for genital piercings as I've gotten 3 here now. When I got my first piercing on my belly button at another shop, it was crooked and got infected easily. I took it out and then came here. The person who pierced me was shocked at how off center and bad the scarring was. Now, my piercing is amazing and has healed so great! I also got my tongue pierced here and the experience was amazing plus the person (Perla) talked me through what I needed to do to maintain it thoroughly. I as well got my eyebrow pierced a while back here and my experience was so good! I laughed with the piercer and bonded and I didn't even notice the pain. I love this place. I love the vibes. I love the artists. I can't wait to get more work done here. I have worked with 4 tattoo artists before coming here, though none are currently located in SoCal. When I moved back to L.A., I was itching to get my next tattoo and did a lot of research on a good tattoo artist nearby. It ended up being surprisingly hard to find a good tattoo artist in the L.A. area. The tattoo market and culture here is REALLY HIT-OR-MISS right now. Everything seems contaminated or at least impacted by influencer vibes, and there are a lot of tattoo "artists" whom I wouldn't even consider artists (i.e., designers, craftspeople, etc.) and more like decently effective copyists. (Note: I don't mean to judge people who have a very specific design in mind beforehand and want a good technician to tattoo it on their skin. But it seems like there are a lot of folks in the area who are trying to jump on the gold rush of tattoo popularity in L.A. and who have no sense of draftsmanship or design or how particular pieces flow on the client's body, nor any sense of connection to tattooing as a community, culture, or heritage. The latter means a lot to me.) Eventually I stumbled across Studio City Tattoo and specifically Jose Menendez. Based on his IG and portfolio, I knew that he had the style and skill I was hoping for. I shot him a DM with general parameters and my preliminary brief. I'm a visual artist too, albeit not a tattoo artist, so I cited specific genres, artists, and art styles that I resonate with, but the way I work with tattoo artists is I try to give them as much creative freedom as possible, because part of the enjoyment for me is to participate in the nexus of the present moment between the artist and my skin. Jose replied saying he was excited about the project, we set up a vidcon consult, chatted through the concept, and then I showed up later that week to see the stencil and I literally had no notes. I was hyped. We were off to the races. The piece took 4 visits total and it was worth every second and every penny. I cannot talk enough about how grateful I am to Jose for putting this piece of art on me. And he is effing rad. Just a good, good person, and really enjoyable to chat with. You can tell he cares about his work. I've since referred several of my friends to him, and I know of at least one who has already begun a new piece with him. More generally, I enjoyed being in the studio. Every other artist or staff I talked with there was hilarious, kind, and personable. In particular I spent a lot of time talking to Cat, one of the studio's piercers. I don't have piercings--though I am thinking of getting some from her!--but she seems like one of the most passionate and sweetest people I've ever met. I can't recommend this place enough. Super grateful I found them and Jose in particular. A local gem for sure. read more

Really grateful that I found Studio City Tattoo right when I did! I randomly noticed that the top of my Tragus jewelry piece came off - the ball had fallen off! Pretty sure it came off when I hugged someone and felt a snag happen - yup, luckily it wasn't painful one bit but that's the only time I could recall something even coming close to the ball on my Tragus jewelry piece. Long story short - I called them to see if they would be able to help me get it replaced, and I drove there within 15 minutes and they were able to show me their array of threaded and non-threaded pieces (did I even get that right?), and they were able to assist. Thank goodness! I also saw a few other piercing ideas that I'd love to get in the future so I was so stoked to at least come across this cool tattoo place, and find my piercings needs were met! I'm not a huge "tattoo" person, I have 3 small ones and they were done by three different places over the past 7 years because I haven't found that one place I wanted to go back to. I've passed this place dozens of times over the past 20 years of living nearby. I saw they have great reviews on Yelp so I figured I'd give them a try for my 4th tattoo. So glad I did. I walked in last week during a slow period of the day and a Emily helped me. She was really nice, friendly and did an amazing job. My tattoo wasn't anything super detailed or anything that took a long time (only took her about 90 minutes from printing it out to finishing it) but it came out great. My tattoo consisted of a lot of perfectly round circles and straight lines, and I heard from other tattoo places that perfect circles and straight lines are very hard to do because you have to have a steady hand. Emilys hands were steady as shit because the lines and circles are perfect. It healed beautifully and she ended up charging me less then her original price. I really appreciated that because she could have charged me what she originally told me but didn't. Next time I get a tattoo ....I'm 100% coming back here. They also put that protective later of film over the tattoo for it to heal, none of my previous 3 tattoo places did that. After my tattoo...my wife got a small tattooo on her wrist from Joshua because Emily was getting ready to leave, and he also did an amazing job and also charged her less then originally quoted. My wife doesn't really leave reviews on Yelp but I told her I'd give a shout out about Joshua's work. He was also super helpful and patient with her. Both those artists were great. Had a good time getting pierced by Petra last week. She made the process easy and as painless as possible. It was a bit pricey but I knew getting 4 new holes wasn't going to be cheap. They have a large selection of jewelry that goes from affordable to pricey, depending on what your looking for. Friendly staff that will include you in conversations and a comfy decorative setting. I felt super comfortable here. I have come here several times in the past for jewelry change outs and everyone has always been super friendly. Went here a month or two ago for a quick jewelry change on my nose piercing. While the change itself went smoothly and no issues, this was probably the most unwelcoming environment I've ever been in at any tattoo shop. I felt like I was inconveniencing them for being there. When I was trying to tip the woman who did my piercing, I was met with attitude when the tip button wasn't working for me on the device. Not a great feeling when you're trying to give someone additional money and you're met with an annoyed/impatient attitude for something out of your control. Had the best experience here! I unfortunately fell victim to getting my ears pierced at claire's 1.5 weeks ago. My ear became super irritated and swollen to the point my earring sank into my ear. Me and my friends went in for a tattoos which were relatively small and took 15-20 minutes top with little to none details. Just plain and simple tattoos that any one could do tbf. We got charged $150 meanwhile my boyfriend who got a medium size tattoo, with more detail including shading was charged $200. I've been in here quite a few times to get my nose piercing switched out and every time i've walked in they have been the loveliest. I don't do well with needles/pain etc. so I am quite prone to becoming faint. Service: they are friendly and informative. They were nice to let me come in and support my friend when she is getting her septum pierced. It looks painful lol.
