UPDATE: I want to be very clear there was no intention of cancelling my appointment the day of and avoiding a cancellation fee. The last time I had to cancel my appointment with Bree, I asked her to send me a Venmo request for said fee without her even having to ask for it so for her to imply this is absolutely insane and absurd. This is a continued effort to put the onus on a customer who routinely tips 20% and above for services. Bree's cancellation fee is $25. I had to cancel a brow lamination and eyelash lift appointment at the last minute due to an emergency and that fee was $120. I paid it with no issue. Why? Because I hold my service providers in high regard. If Bree has a customer service mindset she could have asked me one question and avoided all misunderstanding but as stated in my initial review, she chose differently. I texted her to confirm whether she had enough product to cover my service as her lack of product and scraping of the mail varnish bottle caused a lack of coverage on my nails which is directly responsible for the lifting. The response below is nothing more than a feeble attempt to not reflect and learn a lesson on how to handle customers full stop and my review of my experience stands. In fact, her CUSTOMER was willing to bring her own bottle of builder gel to ensure service because Bree seems to be having supply issues. To further insult me by implying I'm some kind of dead best trying to scam independent businesses out of paltry cancellation fees is the utmost in poor customer service. Additionally, this isn't my first review. I posted a review on a previous page for this business when I first came to Bree. This is a new page. I support my service providers and make sure I talk up their businesses. In fact, when my friend came to town and needed a manicure, Bree is where I sent her so the statement of surprise that I leveraged a consumer took such as Yelp to express my feelings about service is unwarranted After being a customer for two years, I was referred to another nail tech by Bree simply because I wanted to confirm that Bree had enough product to complete my service. I had my nails done on three occasions where we had a product issue. The first time she didn't have the clear builder gel that I usually use and subbed in a pinker one which was fine because it looked good. Second time the pink bottle was almost out and my nails didn't get quite the coverage they should have and it lifted because that's what happens. The next time I went she had a full bottle and my nails were fine. Third time where I had an issue, the bottle was once again almost out and what happened? The gel lifted off completely on two fingers and the other fingers were lifting which meant my own nails were damaged and peeling. Additionally, the regular gel on my two big toes came off completely 24 hours after I got my nails done. I didn't get mad. I didn't even reach out to her until the morning of my appointment because I wanted to confirm that she had product to complete my service because a friend of mine had two full bottles of polish and offered them to me but I needed to run by her house to pick them up. I wanted to confirm with Bree because that dictated what time I had to leave my house. Instead of trying to live in a space of customer service particularly with someone who has been very supportive of her business, Bree chose a different path. She chose to compare me to her other clients and tell me I could go elsewhere. Bree is an independent business and I considered her a friend. However, the venue isn't actually a nail salon so I was a little confused walking in. She rents a room in a business complex off 30th with some other gals who all do different sorts of beauty procedures. The pedicure was well done but it was a little odd to sit in a worn down recliner with my feet in a vibrating home pedicure basin for the pedi. I felt she should put a little money into upgrading her room since there are so many nice salons around SD you can go to. My sister and I both got our nails done with Bree yesterday! This was one of the best nail experiences I've had. She spent over 2 hours focusing on me and making my nails perfect! She started with the pedicure and cleaned and scrubbed every little toe. Love my pedicure. Sabria is the only person who I will even let touch my feet. She is very thorough with her cuticle work and my feet are always so soft! Did i mention she was great with advising me on how to keep my feet soft, usually you dont get that type of care at a regular salon. Bree was great. I desperately needed a mani/pedi, and I was able to make an appointment for the following day using her webpage. She communicated with me when there were issues with her appointment system and when I got lost trying to find her salon. She made my stubby fingers and hobbit feet look presentable. This is her business and she works solo. It was a nice respite from a salon full of ladies talking on their cell phones and technicians screaming at each other. It is also nice because her salon is within walking distance to my home. The overall experience is intimate and relaxing. $25 for gels is a typical price, great deal is how she doesn't charge for gel removal! She pays attention to the nail beds and edges/sides/tips. She's a pro at filing the shape you want and smoothing the edges so polish goes on smoothly and stays. Also, she doesn't buff/file the tops of the nails - I like that because when you decide you no longer want gels, your nail isn't ruined. This is a perfect example of a bait and switch scenario. A groupon was advertised for a gel mani/pedi. The bride called before purchasing to verify that the salon could handle multiple clients (there were five of us). The response was yes and I'll even include some surprises (one glass of mimosa per person). The bride went ahead and purchased a couple of groupons and made the reservations for all of us. We were under the impression that there were either multiple nail technicians at this location or that the technician could handle all of us. We arrived at 2 pm and had rehearsal at 6 pm (yes, we were scheduled at noon but got stuck in another city so the bride called to schedule for later). Still plenty of time for 5 people, right? No! In reality, there was one technician, one station and each gel mani/pedi took 1.5 hours each. Only three people ended up getting a mani/pedi (two gel, one regular), one had her mani/pedi done by another client, and the other person decided to not spend the time needed. Wow. During mani/pedi's done by the technician, she was frequently on her phone to determine child care. I truly understand that as many friends are single parents, but should conversations and texts be happening when you are supposed to be working with the client? Instead, take a moment, excuse yourself, and step outside to take care of what you need to take care of. For the actual mani/pedi, that was also a one star. My toes (which typically last at least 2 weeks) were chipped within two days and the ends were very rough. This was by far one of the worst experiences with a mani/pedi and customer service that I have experienced. What was worse was that this was supposed to be a day of pampering for the bride and instead, she now has poor memories of that experience. I definitely do not recommend this location for a mani/pedi, especially if there is more than one person. read more
