This was such a cute and clean hair salon. It is spacious and relaxing. They had these super comfy hair washing chairs that felt like you were laying your head on a pillow. Mia's pricing didn't change thankfully and it was $100 for a long hair cut. Another bonus was there are ample amounts of free parking so it's easy to park and enjoy a spa day. She doesn't just give a haircut, she teaches you how to shape your hair to fit your face and actually work with your natural texture. I've sent so many friends to her, and every single one has ended up switching from their previous hairstylist to Janelle permanently. She especially shines with curly hair and truly knows how to bring tired, damaged, or shapeless hair back to life. From face framing layers to full hair revivals, she somehow always nails it. You can tell she genuinely cares about her clients leaving confident and loving their hair. Finding a stylist this talented feels like discovering a hidden little treasure chest with scissors.

I went to Aveda Vicara in El Segundo last week with really high hopes because I've always had great…read moreexperiences with Aveda salons in the past. Unfortunately, this experience was incredibly disappointing. I showed the first stylist multiple reference photos of what I wanted, but she ended up adding a very dark root color to my already lightened hair, which was the complete opposite of the look I asked for. After expressing my concerns, the salon did have another stylist step in to help correct it, which I appreciated, although I waited nearly two hours in between. The second stylist made me feel much more comfortable and did improve the situation, but I still left unhappy with my hair overall. The correction consisted of using a color remover on the roots and applying toner to the rest of my hair, and I was charged $265 for it. At the end of the day, my hair looked better than what the first stylist did but still nowhere near what I originally asked for or envisioned. I'm leaving this review because I think communication and transparency are incredibly important, especially with color services. What upset me most was not just the outcome, but the way the situation was handled overall. I understand that corrections can take time and effort, but if I was going to be charged $265 for a corrective service after my hair was initially mishandled, that should have been clearly communicated to me beforehand. I truly wanted to love this salon and leave feeling taken care of, but unfortunately I left feeling disappointed, uncomfortable, and unhappy with the overall experience.
