The water pressure in the shower was prefect and there was plenty of very hot water. Towels and sheets were fluffy and soft and I slept great on the comfy mattress. Another huge plus, especially if you visit Orange in the summer, is the upstairs was nicely cooled; I never felt warm inside for a second. There is wifi, but I only really used it to download a new book to my Kindle. There's also a TV in the room with Direct TV, but I never turned it on, instead preferring the serenity of this quiet, historical neighborhood to cast the perfect reading environment. I'm a light eater, so Gina, the innkeeper, provided me with fresh fruit salad each morning with toast or bagels. Parking is off-street and around back, so you never have to worry about your car. The is an expansive backyard with huge old trees. I preferred the front porch to watch for the occasional passing freight train which runs down the block. My room smelled a bit strong of "air freshener" when I arrived, but other than that was spotless, very comfortable, and pleasantly decorated. It was equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, big screen TV, a very comfortable bed, big bathroom with rain shower, nice towels. There was a pool that looked nice. Ice machine was at the end of the second floor, and there was a washing machine and dryer available. Like I said, there are various eateries right outside with a variety of food: Subway, Hunt Brothers Pizza, fried chicken, and more, a sports bar, and the casino. The hotel lobby is nice and the morning personnel are friendly. The check in clerk was more businesslike, but he was efficient. They require a refundable deposit for any damages. No smoking. I did not eat breakfast there but it looked very good, more than the usual. They had a hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, and a lot more. My RV broke down in Orange and I've been getting help from home with little money...I asked for a non-smoking room because I have respiratory condition and they couldn't accomidate, saying they'd call me 2 days later when one opened up. I don't know if there was mold in the AC or something but I kept getting migraines and couldn't sleep. I had trouble breathing and after those 2 days began to get sick. Naturally, I didn't want to complain or even post here because I don't like to badmouth people. But I kept being told there was no non-smoking room available, and treated in a rather condescending tone. I'd noticed few days later that my phone and TV weren't even plugged in and when I asked a third time on non-smoking room availability they said I "should have come by the office sooner". I have spent the duration of my time here sleepless and sick and going by their impression feel jerked around and mislead. Also, I saw housekeeper once and said a friendly hello in passing and got a really snide wordless reply / look. I didn't think much of it, because I'm not a person to get insulted. But then, the housekeeping cart never once came by my room for laundry or trash or anything. I don't mind taking care of those things myself (=I live in an RV usually), but ..?! It felt very directly offputting and the housekeeping cart would often wake me up in the morning being slammed into the outside of my room door. When I would walk past or upstairs, the cart would be re-positioned to block my path. I kept politely asking for a non-smoking room, and was told I'd be phoned the next day. I then came to find that the phone and TV in my room weren't even plugged in. Other interactions with management here just gave me a sense of defeat and left me with the impression that they didn't care about the few thing that I might need (nothing not promised initially), so long as I kept paying money. I don't have a lot of money at all and in fact have been receiving help from home while my RV is fixed, and this really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know what the issue was, why they were so rude, but I would never ever stay here again. Not enjoying giving this feedback - again, I have never posted about anywhere - But am sharing here because it really felt that disrespectful unaccommodating and borderline exploitative. I truly regret having stayed here.
