They seemed to be locals and one of them (the birthday girl) appeared to be an employee of Möllers. This basically ruined our night as they were loud and annoying but this doesn't necessarily reflect on the restaurant. We ate quickly and bailed out to hit a bar elsewhere but left impressed by the rest. The interior is quite nice and far better than we expected when seeing the outside of the restaurant. Service was attentive and good (again, the noise drowned a lot of the small talk but I guess they tried nevertheless). Food was really good. Straightforward seafood and my wife and I were both happy with everything but the noise. Not sure whether we'd come back as we found many other good options but I think the place is worth checking out if you haven't been. Again, food and interior plus service were good and it's a fairly nice place. I wouldn't go out of my way though to come here as it's a standard German menu and there is nothing "stand out" about this place.

Seriously, avoid this place if you can. Let me list what went wrong. First, we were seated in an almost empty restaurant right next to a family with a young boy and an infant. Obviously my wife and I were here to have a quiet dinner and not to sit right next to loud patrons. Tons of other tables were free. We asked for one and were told it wasn't available. We ended up taking another near the entrance from the hotel side and it was OK view wise but none of the tables we wanted were ever actually put to use. The restaurant never filled up to more than five tables I believe. The seat I was on was supposedly for one person but there was a divider or something right in the middle, i.e. it was uncomfortable and a joke for this type of restaurant. Second, after getting done with the whiny, high-pitched voice women who seats you, our waitress took forever to come and ask for our drink selections and then again for our food order. She didn't really seem interested to be serving us and seemed to disappear often (for what I am presuming were outdoor cigarette breaks). She was definitely not a trained waitress and in this price range unacceptable. We never received a bread basket. No big deal but when I asked for one the response was "oh, I forgot!" No "I'm sorry" or anything like that. Just "I forgot". Seriously, that's the best you can do? Mind you, we were still being polite at this point. Drinks arrived and I have to say this was the worst glass of wine I've ever had for 9 Euro. Seriously, there are table wines that cost 2 Euro a bottle that are worlds-apart better than this crap they serve. Avoid the wines!!! Food? Skip it. I had the entrecôte with "waffle potatoes". I had no idea what that was and was intrigued. You know what I got? Cold potato chips. They were kind of moist too. This is a joke folks! The meat was garbage too and served with potato chips. There are grill imbisses that do this better! Dessert? Are you kidding me. We couldn't wait to get out of here. Asked for the bill. It took forever as well for it to come. Was handed to us without a comment. I expressed my complaints about the food and service...politely, trying to give constructive feedback as my wife made me stay calm. Response? "Oh, OK". Nothing more came out of her mouth. Enough of this place. Won't ever be back and hope lots of you skip it so they get their act together. We had a wonderful stay at the Budersand but this place is a blight on the horizon up from the hotel. So much potential but literally off the deep end because of what I am presuming to be horrible management and inexperienced staff.

The decor is artsy but envying. Service wasn't necessarily overly polite our going out of his way (older guy with the moustache) but he did his job and we can't complain. The location is a bit out there and parking is an issue so come by foot or bike if you can. Outdoor seating may be nicer than if you're forced to be inside as we were (it was cold). You can do far worse than this place on Sylt and the food itself was really good. If you can combine hitting the beach and then having a quick bite here, you will leave happy.

This restaurant should not have a Michelin star…read more 1. I feel that in order to have a Michelin star, a restaurant should have a wine-program and in particular a full-time sommelier. We were at the restaurant during the summer on a Saturday night and, believe it or not, there was no sommelier! We know a lot about and spend a heck of a lot on wine - and, no surprise, we had questions about the wine list. Someone who turned out in the end to be the restaurant manager came to speak to us - she did not tell us that she was not the sommelier - we discovered this after leaving. We had quite a few questions and unfortunately did not get good answers. At one point, further along in the evening, when we had questions about digestifs, our young waiter actually had to help her with the choices in the list. Very embarrassing! 2. The food is okay, but not necessarily a Michelin star. In particular, we had one course called "Essence of Paella" - we eat at Michelin starred restaurants on a weekly basis, and this has to got be in the top ten worst dishes we have ever eaten in any restaurant at all. This dish was basically a huge chunk of pineapple in a brown broth with peanuts swimming around. Bizarre! I've never had peanuts in a paella. I'm not sure that pineapple features this heavily in paella as well. But overall, not a single taste that would remind me of paella. Really awful. Furthermore, even if it weren't supposed to have had to do with paella, just a completely bad dish. And, a la carte, this dish was something like 30 euros!!
