I advised she appeared to be sick, stumbling in parking lot and was carrying a yellow bag that staff told me was a regurgitation bag and she had neuropathy. The incident was downplayed by the staff and NP. I was told it was not serous and that it was not an issue that this person was walking hallways and coming passing patients in the hallway. After my visit I was to wait in the room for the lab tech. After 20 minutes I opened the door to find an ambulance stretcher blocking the door to the room I was in, I watched as the loaded the staff member and took her away. The NP was in the hallway, and I advised her I had not had my labs yet and needed to use the restroom. I was directed to the restroom. Upon my return I went back to the room, sure the lab tech would be in soon. 25 minutes later a staff member came into the room demanding to know why I was still there. I explained I has been waiting for over 45 minutes for my lab tests. An acting supervisor came in along with the NP and said let's get your lab test done. I expressed my concerns for the staff member and how I was treated, exposed to staff members unknown illness who left in an ambulance. I was told I was overreacting to a slight cough, I was mistaken in what I witnessed, that they were short staffed, and that this office did not have a manager due to frequent turnovers. Later when I checked my chart notes. The NP notes stated that I was upset that a staff member coughed, and I was only there for 50 minutes in total. It did not mention that the staff member left in an ambulance and that I was forgotten for over 45 minutes. I report this and a letter was sent saying it would be looked into, and I would be receiving a follow up. Several calls and 5 months have passed with no updates or corrections to my chart

Every month my pharmacy waits 3-5 days for prescription approvals to be called in, while the requests (which NMMC requires by FAX) go missing, sit on desks of doctors who are on vacation, or are simply ignored even after I make extensive follow up phone calls to track them down. I checked into the Urgent Care at Park Nicollet, where a very helpful person asked if I'd like to check out Smart Care. She said it was a new service and virtually no wait (v. the long line at Urgent Care). I thanked her and trudged a short way down the hall. Honestly, that moment likely changed my life, or at least my health. I was treated quickly and expertly and have since made Smart Care my primary provider. I've stopped in for vaccinations, treatment for muscle strains, more stupid sinus infections and have always felt that I received the best care possible. I can easily reach out to them through the MyChart website or with a quick phone call to see if an office visit is necessary. The whole team is friendly and knowledgeable. I always feel as if my concerns are heard and acknowledged. I recommend that anyone looking for a primary care team check this out!

SmartCare by Park Nicollet offers much lower prices, but dramatically limits you to providers within the Twin Cities metro area. Even then, many physicians (including my long-time primary care physician) who work for Park Nicollet are not part of the SmartCare program, which tends to rely on Physician's Assistants (PAs) for primary care needs. I've never been impressed by doctors with diplomas, at least outside of specific surgical expertise. I know many PAs whose expertise rivals those of general practitioners. For 90% of us, you don't need a doctor to diagnose your sore throat and prescribe meds. (In fact, an increasing amount of primary care is *finally* being made accessible through virtual visits.) It's been an active year for me, medically at least: two total knee replacements; a few asthma complications that required medication adjustments; a fun visit to the foot doctor to see if he could help level out my leg lengths after the first knee surgery; pre-op and PT visits for the TKRs; a lovely colonoscopy; and a few other visits I think. All within 10 miles of my Plymouth residence. Next year I probably won't go interact with the healthcare system more than a few times. Only nitpick: The appointment scheduling lines are consistently understaffed to handle call volume, so wait times of 30 minutes are not unusual. Ideally you can use the website to schedule an appointment, but sometimes you need more assistance.

When I was there with a friend of mine who had been suffering from a dangerous and life threating neurological condition that was seeing DR. Leppik, my friend was shocked and so was I after seeing how Dr. LEPIK told my friend after several weeks of testing for brain surgery that he was denying my friend the surgery unless he was to apologize to the staff for telling his staff that they were incompetent!. Then while my friend was in Dr. Leppik's exam room Leppik brought all office clerks (over 4 people who were not medical professionals) into the room while my friend was partially undress and said to the staff "ok he's got something to say to you all.... (I was there... My friend it's a very reasonable person who does not scream, threats, or behaves himself in any other way other than someone who is exercising his legal right to express dissatisfaction when one feels discriminated and mistreated, especially when one is in such stress concerned with dying as he was told several times.) I find it HORRIBLY unprofessional and UNETHICAL for a Doctor to threat a patient in such vulnerable condition to do something like this. There was also a time when I was with my friend and he had MINCEP on speaker phone on a recorded Line from our end, and my friend was telling the Staff how is it possible that the appointment has been canceled. The clerk responded with "HOLD ON"!! (From the start of this phone call my friend stated to the clerk the following "This line is being recorded for legal purposes" and she responded with I don't care go ahead... all recorded) And proceeded to put her phone down without muting the phone at which time we both heard the staff make the following statement on a recorded line on our end: "OH GOD IS THIS IDIOT CALLING AGAIN HE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO HIS COUNTRY.... HE MUST BE BLACK" MINCEP IS THE WORLDS most Unethical, Unprofessional, and rude Neurological center. The staff will often cancel appointments without telling you until you show up on their office and they say "Oh your appointment was canceled" even though one has confirmation of the appointment on MINCEP'S letter head... it's just horrible. THE MINNESOTA DEPATMENT OF HEALTH IS THE SINGLE WORST STATE IN THE COUNTRY FOR GIVING DICIPLINARY ACTIONS AGAINST MD'S WHO VIOLATE THE PHYSICIANS ETHICAL REQUIRIEMNTs FOR LICENSING, IN THAT 95% OF THE TIME THE STATE OF MINNESOTA HEALTH DEPARTMENT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING, WHICH IS WHY SO MANY MD'S END UP IN COURT SO OFTEN AND WHY THERE ARE MD'S THAT BEHAVE THIS WAY.
