The restaurant is located in Haslau an der Donau, and it has incredible views of the river (FYI Donau = Danube). The restaurant is lovely, quite beautiful, even though I don't think they were seating anyone on their gorgeous patio when we were there (maybe it's more of a brunch or lunch patio). The restaurant is in the Michelin Guide; it has a Bib Gourmand rating ("good quality, good value cooking), and I can see why. They brought us a bread course and a little amuse bouche, which was a nice touch. We were unfortunately pretty worn down by a few days of touristing and didn't have much of an appetite (and I couldn't have anything to drink, because I need to drive us to drop off the rental car). So we only ordered an entree each. I wish we'd been hungrier and less tired, because the food was very good. We had our last schnitzel of the trip as well as a lovely seafood dish. The service was as good as the food; we felt very welcome and taken care of. The restaurant was a great choice for our last dinner of the trip. I'd certainly eat there again.

Through my travels, I've never shied away from fried pork or fried chicken or fried anything really, but schnitzel has always held a special place in my heart for how it feels, tastes, and pairs with cabbage and potatoes and beer. Trifecta. The schnitzel here is generous to say the least and it comes with a side "salad" which is actually a plate of slivered cabbage, sliced potatoes, pickles, and some butter leaf lettuce on top for good measure. The dressing they use for this salad is a force to be reckoned with and I absolutely love it. I make it a point to eat here every time I fly in and out since I stay at the Hein Hotel down the street after I land and before flying home. The outdoor patio seating is ample and open but to do be aware that smoking is allowed so that might turn you off. Indoor seating is comfortable and also plentiful. Bathrooms are clean. Serice is prompt. Beers are wonderful. Prices are incomparable for such quality. I will say that the mixed grilled plate (pork, turkey, bacon, ribs) was not very good and if anything, I'd just say order the ribs if you want something of that nature. Get the schnitzel. Get the dumpling soup. Get the beer (Gosser is not something I can find in OC and it's wonderful). Enjoy the patio on a sunny day. Walk off your meal through the park just behind the restaurant.
