Where do I begin? Lets start with the winter storage of the boat. The boat had a canvass cover which we secured with great care. During a storm it opened. It was not attended to by the crew who are suppose to be overlooking these boats during their storage. Not to mention the boat was parked in tall grass and reeds so- hello mice. The open canvass allowed water to collect inside; and because the boat was not stored at the correct pitch - the drainage system which would normally be effective- was not, the water remained in the hull and ruined the carpet and various other areas. Then they threw someone elses folding chairs into our hull - NOT our chairs - which were in sleeves, infested with ants. That was another clean up for us to embrace on top of water damage. Upon leaving this wreck of a marina we noticed our canvass boat cover in their dumpster with garbage thrown on top of it. What an interesting decision to make on behalf of someone elses belongings. What part of this sounds like professional or we care about your business. Zero. One star is not what I would choose but ZERO stars is not an option. However ZERO dollars is what Strongs Marine will be getting in the future. read more

Natalie the bartender at Windermere at Strongs Marina is worst bar tender EVER!! How she is still employed is beyond me!! She actually told me and multiple friends, at separate times that she didn't have "time" to make us drinks. We're here with 3 other boats for 5 days for vacation and the bar tender tells us she's too busy to serve us. It's obvious by her piss poor attitude that she really hates her job. She is rude, unfriendly, and extremely bad at her job. We waited 30 minutes for a drink that never arrived and then said, "screw it, we'll just take the check." Waited 25 minutes for the check!!! The next day, she was again rude and had no good tequila! Otherwise, EVERY SINGLE OTHER STRONG EMPLOYEE IS EXEMPLARY AND STELLAR! read more

Have been wanting to get out on the Peconic Bay for years and finally did it this last week, compliments of Strongs. A perfect experience.: From the initial set up with Tami in the Mattituck office, to picking up the boat from Jessica and Jane in Southampton, to the terrific boat itself (Pursuit 23 foot , brand new, fast and fun) the four of us had an amazing day out on the bay, circling Shelter Island, dropping anchor in a cove near Mashomack State Park, opposite Sag Harbor, to some waterskiing in Noyak Bay at Long Beach.... everyone went as described and planned, and Tami, Jessica, and Jane were all a delight to deal with. Great care was taken to explain the waterways to us by Jane, and it was a perfect day. Looking forward to renting again in a week or so read more

I'm a fairly new boater having only started this new passion a few years ago. So I probably have more questions and concerns than the many experienced Popeye's out there. I've recently been to a number of places looking to upgrade my boat to a larger vessel. Most were decent but none more patient and professional that the people at Strong's Marine. I met with Drew Lanzetta and even got to meet Jeff Strong, the owner, at his Mattituck location without advance notice. He took me out on a test drive in a new 42' Regal Coupe without hesitation. I hate leaving negative feedback and try never to do it, understanding that not all things work out as intended/people have bad days, etc. But, I had a very unfortunate experience with trying to purchase a brokerage boat here. After viewing one of their on-site pre-owned listings on a Friday, I conveyed an offer price to the broker for the seller to approve and decided to eat lunch at the marina's restaurant in the meantime. Broker came back and said seller approved of the offer and we could sea trial. Took a nice hour-long sea trial with broker, came back to the showroom and then signed the paperwork and placed the $5k deposit. Spent the next few days excitedly putting together surveyor, slip and insurance paperwork. When I called on Monday to confirm with the broker that the surveyor would have access to the boat on Tuesday, the seller told me that I should hold off because the seller changed his mind, was backing out of the sale and now wanted more money, after I had signed the agreement, shaken hands, sea trialed the boat and placed the deposit with the broker (all while broker said he had full authorization from the seller). I had to cancel the survey, insurance, slip deposit, not to mention (and perhaps worst of all) pass on another boat I was also bidding on after I had "won" this one. I wasted half a day sea trialing and filling out paperwork. In the end it all meant nothing. Never experienced anything like it before. The broker conceded that they had "never had it happen before" as well. I guess it is true that they couldn't necessarily help it if their client wasn't willing to do the right thing, but brokers should have A: written authorization they can defend, B: the power/pull to have their client honor their obligations as to not sully their reputation- What was supposed to be (and originally was) a very exciting, happy event for me has turned into a train wreck- I can't recommend buying a boat here unfortunately, at least not a brokerage boat. I'm a lifelong boater on the east end and wish I could relay a better review about a local business. read more

Beyond disappointed with Strong's Marine-Yacht Center. We are still dealing with issues (on our 54' Cruisers Cantius) that were never completed upon pick up almost 1 year ago! Autopilot and trim tabs were never configured and still do not work properly! It's like a wild goose chase trying to get anything fixed. Just a reminder that none of the electronics were configured...fuel capacity etc when we picked the boat up...nor was it detailed! The owner, Jeff, will not call back, just uses text or email. My husband has spent countless hours fixing things that he should not have to fix and gobbled up fuel (probably $500 worth) trying to fix autopilot that Strong's says they will not reimburse us for! We would not have my worst enemy buy a boat from Strong's!! read more

This marina is in a great location which is well protected but it is not well-run. We arrived at 6 PM on a Saturday evening in July only to learn that the staff had departed at 5 PM. REALLY??? at a marina with over 150 berths.....There were no instructions given to us about how or where to dock, and there was much confusion about where to go and how to use the shore power (which in my case was being used by a neighboring boat to my exclusion). We were also never given access codes to use the bathrooms and showers, nor were we given bracelets that were necessary to use the pool. This didn't matter because the pool closes at 7 PM and by the time we had tied up it was too late to swim on a beautiful Saturday night in July. We also learned that if you didn't have a special wristband the Lifeguards would force you to leave, go to the office and get one before you could use the pool. REALLY??? You would think there were roving bands of pool hoppers trespassing on a daily basis. The management should focus more on assisting their guests and focus less on enforcing rules and policies that don't matter. The one bright spot was an excellent waitress named Cassie who served us at Paces restaurant. She was the only person working at this marina who made us feel welcome. Thank you Cassie. read more

An unfortunate Labor Day/ birthday trip turned sour. We'd been looking forward to going to mattituck all summer. Our boating friends raved, said we'd love it. While it is a beautiful marina, one experience had caused us to leave and definitely will not return. We come from a marina where all are welcome. And propane grills. We went to use the grills and had literally no clue you had to buy your own charcoal. There was a huge bag sitting on the grill with lighter fluid and a lighter so we thought oh this is what you use ( no sign saying it wasn't for public use) after we used the grill this unfortunate man came and literally screamed at us that how rude we are ( with our 2 year old) to use his charcoal. If there was a sign or we knew it wasn't public charcoal we never would have used. He said we must be " transient" boaters. We apologized and offered him money but he just yelled and refused. Yes we paid 150$ a night sir ( and left a night early due to him with no refund) Next time there should be a sign or he should keep his charcoal on his boat. He was a 60ish year old man screaming at us while holding our 2 year old daughter. We love boating and are nice as pie to anyone who stays at our marina as "transients" so unfortunate. And a waste of money due to the rudest member of their marina. read more
