Our microwave works great but we had to push the button several times to get it to open. Through Sandy at Appliance Parts of Oxnard I ordered internal latch parts. She recommended Stringer Appliance Repair to do the installation. WOW, was I pleased with his service. He could have taken the cabinet installed microwave apart blindfolded. He was fast, wore a mask, and showed me the problem with the old part. It was not broken but worn, causing us to slam the door push button to get the door to open. It is as good as new, thanks to Appliance Parts of Oxnard and Paul Stringer Appliance Repair. His fee was reasonable and well deserved. This is a five star review for Stringer Appliance Repair. He successfully helped us with our whirlpool refrigerator and washer on two separate occasions. For the refrigerator he ran a diagnostic and advised me to insist that whirlpool honor a recently expired warranty. They did and replaced the part and I avoided a costly repair. We have had the washing machine fixed four times by another company (which has deservedly poor Yelp reviews), only to have it break again soon after. Paul told us exactly why the malfunction kept occurring and how to prevent it, thereby saving us from ongoing problems and repair costs. No one had ever given us this information before. The dishwasher needed a new computer system, which is about the cost of a new machine, so he advised us to spring for that instead of putting money into an older model that is showing wear and tear. My dryer started making squealing sounds like a fan belt on a car. He explained the probable cause, gave me an estimate of the cost, came at the appointed time, and made the repair for the expected amount. In fact, he had to swap out one of the parts from the replacement kit because that part was not manufactured correctly and still caused noise. We have had to call Mr. Stringer over the years several times for our 20 plus year old washer and dryer. First, he is there when he says he will be; second he takes his time to really look at the problem and he's very knowledgeable; third he explains CLEARLY what is going on and how it can be repaired; fourth, he does the repairs that you have agreed on; fifth he charges appropriately. He also has come over to review my work when I have taken the plunge on occassion to work on one of the machines. Probably one of the worst technicians I've ever had. My regular technician I usually call in for my repairs was on vacation. I called Paul and he charged me $50 for the wrong diagnosis. He refused to give me a refund because what he charged me was for the "house call." He wanted to charge me $400 to repair my dryer and replace the main computer. I called my technician a few days ago and he said it was not that, I just needed to replace the thermal fuse... And spent $20. This company frauds you for money! Paul Stringer, the patron saint of appliance repair. I highly highly recommend String Appliance, I was referred by my trusted plumber (JR with Salomon's Plumbing) after my dishwasher broke. Today Paul came (early!) to fix my front load washer. It had torn clothing and the boot came out, it was a disaster. He saved my boot and reassembled it and fixed everything without replacing any parts (a savings of hundreds of dollars, another repairman could have fleeced me- but Stringer is HONEST). I have used this local owned business for years. Just a plain honest and good business man. My 70 yr old mother, had appliances just breaking down, one each year. When some electricians were at the house and all of a sudden her stove didn't work, he told us a couple things to try and if they didn't work he would come over in the morning (this was after hours). Of course his suggestion worked. No cost..... 6 months later her dryer was making an awful racket. She called and was told he simply couldn't work on the machine, because the company wouldn't supply the parts. He was 100% right. ( we called around). Result new dryer. Most recently, refrigerator had been leaking. Mom couldn't remember the name and called other repair companies but 3 of them couldn't make it out until Wednesday.
