The market here is open pretty much everyday (except in the winter when they are limited to fewer…read moreshops indoor) and is one of the tourist spot to stop by, either for a regular city tour or while waiting for a ferry to Suomenlinna. The shops sell things ranging from crafts and souvenir to fresh produces like berries and veggies and cafe food. It's a nice quick stroll to see Helsinki life :) (though many tourists come here more than locals I think). Pluses are that there's no entrance fee but, as a big foodie fan, I wish they have more selection for edible food to try out!

A group of friends has started reviving an old Finnish recipe: Musikkamaito (Blueberry Milk). Basically that just means eating blueberries swimming in milk. But the guys from Mustikkamaito make it more of an ice cream using deep frozen berries, adding milk and sugar, mixing the whole thing up and finishing with a little bit of cinnamon. Musikkamaito is sold from a moving stand on a bicycle traveling around town. You can most often find them on Esplanadi next to Cafe Kappeli. One portion is 3 €. Give it a try. You'll love it!

At three different locations around Helsinki they sell their "premium street food" as they call it. And that is no exaggeration. StreetGastro focuses purely on sandwiches. In fact they only have four different kinds on their menu: Possu (pork), Kana (chicken), Härkä (beef) and Vege (vegetarian). And you can't make a wrong choice. All of them are really good. With a delicious bread and lots of fresh lettuce and vegetables they these sandwiches make for an excellent snack and even a decent lunch.
