The prices are a little high but as they sell mostly designer gifts i suppose this is to be expected. However it is a lovely little shop and it is definitely worth going out of your way to have a look around.

It does sell some soft toys but in the main it stocks quirky bits and pieces, novelty items and gifts. It has a range of hen night type joke items which aren't suitable for children at all, for example. It also has quite a large selection of greeting cards, mostly comedy ones. I used to think this shop was great in the 1980s - it was a place to find unusual gifts. It all looks really dated and tacky now - so either I've become incredibly sophisticated in my old age, or Clayhanger really haven't kept up with retails trends - I suspect the latter.

There are also a few steps down to the lower part of the shop and so it isn't really practical if you have a pushchair or are in a wheelchair. The range is awsome…read more It is situated on the lower level of the Harlequins shopping centre and is a shop which has a strange magnetic appeal and will draw you in with all the sights and smells of all the different sweets. There are lots of little gifts as well as a large party accessories area where you can find everything from balloons to party favours. It is not just a place for children as there are many big kids in there as well as there is a large range of retro sweets as well. Very good for children spending their pocket money, very good for adults buying sweets to make their own retro sweet boxes or hampers. The staff are very helpful as well. The only drawback is that you will spend more than you bargained for as there is always just one other sweet that you have to try! The cards are lovely and different from the cards you see elsewhere on the High Street. They are slightly more expensive than other card shops but worth it as the cards are usually handmade and of excellent quality. It's definitely worth popping in here if you want to get a card that's a little extra special for someone.
