Overall, a great vibe. Also, I love that the entire front of the building is covered and has shade because it's nice to walk there if you just want to stretch your legs, etc. The front entrance also has a separate ramp to get up if you're not able to use the stairs!

I needed to locate a book for a discussion (professionally related) and the Pearland Library was the only location to have it. So shout out to the Brazoria County Library system! Thanks! I've visited this location once to pickup my library hold. I explored for a short period of time but not for very long. I was able to grab my hold off the shelf with ease and get it checked out with the library staff member. Kudos to them because I didn't have my physical library card with me. I chose to give them a call first to ensure not having my physical card wouldn't be a problem. Staff members were nice and helpful. This location is spacious. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely return. Oh something else to note - a huge green flag (!!) for this library system is that you can apply for the library card online and they will send your card to you in the mail. Talk about accessibility, am I right?

The children's section wasn't completely separated from the adult section as I could hear rambunctious kids talking oh so loudly and playing as if they don't understand the concept of silence. It does seem like the selection of audiobooks and DVDs is far greater than what Parker Williams and Freeman library has combined. Though, this isn't a Harris county library branch. I'm not sure if that's the reason why they don't have wifi for guests. The staff wasn't very welcoming as when I walked in I wasn't greeted, just stared at like I was an alien from outer space. However, one of the shelving assistant that had a Irish accent or British accent was polite and showed that she was friendly. They have early voting going on now in a separate room. There aren't any tile floors just carpet and no bad odor inside. Also, the parking wasn't limited meaning there is lots of spots available. It's pretty convenient to find, if you're traveling from Green Tee just drive straight onto Liberty Dr., it's on the right side across from City Hall. As you drive up to it and park, it may portend disappointment, but "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover." Let me explain. Kingwood is a master planned community that has some cachet, containing many named and themed neighborhoods, and it is the farthest northeasterly tentacle of the city of Houston. However, as you approach this library, you are looking at the short side of a big rectangle. The library entrance is reached by following a trellised path down its side. Then, when you turn and enter the library, you finally realize it's a substantial two level facility. Most of the key areas in the Kingwood Branch Library are upstairs. This would include the stacks, open study areas with tables, study rooms, computers, and very comfortable lounge-like reading areas, the latter of which will not be suitable for "lounge lizards." Downstairs, one finds circulation, a children's area, community rooms, restrooms, and even a used bookstore. However, with its high ceilings and big windows, the upstairs makes for a very likable place to be. With Kingwood branding itself as the "livable forest," the windows bring in the abundant verdant aspects of this area and, even if ridiculously hot outside, provide a soothing feeling inside. This is a fitting library for this relatively newer area. The staff at this library is very helpful. They were on point with helping me with my low maintenance needs ... and did so with a smile! Another thing to note is a bureaucratic issue that might confuse some. Since it is within the city of Houston proper, one might think it's a branch of the Houston Public Library (HPL). It is not, although there are many HPL branches. Instead, the library in Kingwood is part of the Harris County Public Library system. That said, some of the libraries in H-town will be HPL libraries, while others in the city, and in nearby municipalities, will be in the Harris County Public Library system. They are not one and the same.

Right when you walk in they have a books store where you can scroll through so many hard to find titles. Reminds me of my days of hanging out in a Half Price Book Store location. They also have a drive thru for book returns. How cool is that. Not sure if other locations have this, the only one I've seen was the Freeman Library in Clear Lake when I lived there. It is open post Covid and they do have their hours and contact info updated on their website. I was looking for a quiet place to get some work done and do some reading. I happened to be in the area and decided to stop by to check out their book sale. While their selection was smaller than other libraries I've visited, I loved that they had a "Fill a Bag" sale for just $5 running at the same time as their standard $0.50-$3 per item pricing. I found a few great titles to add to my growing personal library! What stood out most to me were: 1. The building doesn't have an awning or clear signage showing the library's name--kind of surprising for such a seemingly historic spot. 2. The space had a distinct "old" smell, like the carpets hadn't been cleaned in years and decades of foot traffic were still lingering in the fibers. 3. The librarians were incredibly kind and didn't rush me, even though I walked in just 10 minutes before closing. Their patience was especially appreciated as I wrapped up my purchase right around 4:55 PM. It's rare these days to not feel rushed, and their courtesy really stood out to me. All in all, it's a charming little library worth a visit, especially for the book sales!

This place serves as a peaceful getaway to the relatively lackluster and car-oriented surroundings. The windows let in plenty of natural light from every angle and the interior looks modern. There are several seating choices to choose from, including a reservable conference room in the center. The library is a little small but for the space it has, it's utilized efficiently. I certainly had no issue getting several hours of remote work done at the high tables. The staff appeared inviting, and the school kids kept the noise to a minimum. HPL is doing a stellar job building useful and beautiful third spaces throughout the city.

He wanted those not providing direct assistance to move to another area. Everyone there was support for these children and again our group was small. No one was being loud or doing anything disrespectful to cause him to come talk to us rudely and aggressively. We all felt uncomfortable and unwelcome after that. The entire vibe changed with the students. We packed up and left early because of this. I didn't get his name. He was tall black man with a red shirt on.
