I'm always amazed how busy this place is considering how many stairs you have to climb to get there. Admittedly I was technically considered a 'mature student' when I was at Auckland (because 25 = old), but even so I don't feel like I was any less sprightly than the hordes of teenagers that gunk the place up.
Actually, that's one of the benefits of Strata over, say, Slurp - there's a slightly older crowd here. Perhaps it's a post-grad thing, but you feel less hemmed in by vapid teenagers here than you might do elsewhere on campus. Maybe that's just me.
The café itself is reasonably sized, with plenty of seating. Despite the place being busy, I've never had to wait too long for a coffee, and the coffee itself is good enough, especially for a student customer base. The cabinet food is what you'd expect from any café, with the slightly inflated prices to match, but no worse than you'd get anywhere else at uni. Overall this place is pretty good. read more
