I recently attended the Hawaii Strange Escapes event. Had a great time! I had already met all of the speakers at other events but it was fun to have smaller, more intimate gatherings. Glad I had an opportunity to do a short investigation at Hawaiian Plantation Village! Normally they do not allow investigations. I have been on several Strange Escape events over the past few years. They were very enjoyable. We purchased VIP tickets for an event at Saint Augustine, FL in September 2020 that had to be rescheduled due to Covid. The event was rescheduled for May 2020. I called the venue to reserve rooms for the event and was told that THEY had canceled the event due to the lack of contact from Strange Escapes. 2 - 3 weeks before the event is to be held Strange Escapes reached out to say that the event was again being rescheduled, blaming the venue for canceling. A new date was not given at that time. They also said that people who could not go would receive refunds. Since then I have reached out to Strange Escapes multiple times through email, FB messaging and phone calls. I have not received any responses. Strange Escapes plans only top notch events. My husband and I have been to two (Bermuda Cruise in May 2017 and Lizzie Borden house in January 2018) and we plan on going to at LEAST one event a year. Even though we've only been to two, we already feel as though we're part of the SE family. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I have been to many events and strange escapes events are more like Paranormal Vacations... complete with amazing locations, cocktail parties, lectures, investigations etc. every person who attended these events are given one on one treatment by the invited paranormal speakers and EVERYONE always has an amazing time. If you've always wanted to attend I would do it. Every ticket option is clearly labeled so you know what you are getting Brice you purchase. There are also special add on tickets for psychic readings and private dinners.. but you must have a general admission ticket first!! So get that or the VIP ticket and then get the wonderful add on. We have wanted to try a Strange Escapes event since they began, and finally had the opportunity to book their event at The Stanley Hotel in April 2016. The event was easy to book on the company website and we found the description of the event to be thorough. There were two times that we contacted Strange Escapes with questions and we received prompt responses on both occasions. We arrived and found friendly staff to check us in, provide us with our event lanyards and even found a small flashlight (for ghost hunting!) in our arrival kit. We had a large variety of lectures by celebrity guests such as Adam Berry, Grant Wilson, John E L Tenney, Chip Coffey, and many others, as well as a music concert by Adam Berry and a magic performance by magician Aiden Sinclair . Each lecture was entertaining and very informative. We loved that all the paranormal experts were available for all attendees and all were friendly and genuinely happy to chat and pose for photos. We feel the price we paid for the full event plus the extra tickets we bought to attend psychic medium Chip Coffey's gallery reading was fair and affordable. There was one slight hiccup in our night to investigate the Stanley's most haunted areas (the door lock to room 1302 had a major malfunction) so we were initially unable to get in and investigate, but, we were invited to return later in the evening to investigate. We loved the rotation system that Strange Escapes utilized that gave every group the chance to investigate each hotspot for 45 minutes with a different paranormal celebrity. The opportunity to experience each location and to be able to do so with some of the big names in paranormal investigation was a thrill of a lifetime. Amy Bruni has done an amazing job providing a variety of paranormal events in amazing locations in the USA and even at sea ( a weeklong cruise!). She is well organized, exceptionally kind and friendly, and did an excellent job keeping all of her "Escapees" happy, informed and entertained. This started in February of 2020. I paid $837 to participate in a Strange Escapes event in May of 2020. But that event was postponed because of the pandemic. Strange Escapes rescheduled to September of 2020 but that also was postponed because of the pandemic. They rescheduled again to May of 2021. Then that date was canceled by their hotel in early April of 2021 because the hosting hotel had NOT heard from Strange Escapes and could not get in touch with them. I emailed Strange Escapes - no response. On April 23, 2021, Strange Escapes finally sent out a general email regarding cancellation due to covid concerns and said they would reschedule - AGAIN. There was NO further correspondence about a new date until August 2021, stating the event would take place Sept 9-11 of 2021. How would I or any other paid attendee (since early 2020) be sure to be able to get airline reservations or even hotel reservations with such short notice? I emailed Strange Escapes with that complaint, also noting that due to THEIR short notice I had a conflict with their new dates. I told them that I was completely tired of and fed up with their continual lack of organization, lack of communication, and rudeness to people who paid nearly $900 in good faith. I told them their event had been COMPLETELY MISHANDLED and people like me who supported it from the beginning have been Ignored. I demanded a complete refund. Ten days later (August 19, 2021), Strange Escapes sent an email to me stating they would send a refund to me via Venmo - I sent them my Venmo ID. It is now late February 2022 and I have received NO further response from them and NO refund. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau - strange escapes NEVER responded to the BBB. ALL I want is my $837 refunded to me. They should be ashamed, but apparently not ... read more

Fun trip! Went to the Mount Washington Hotel and Resort in November with Strange Escapes. Per the website and trip details, all attendees were supposed to receive gift bags with some paranormal goodies. We never received these. Jotted down our name and address so they could send them out. Haven't received mine yet. Also sent an email to Strange Escapes notifying them of this but never heard back. A little unprofessional in my opinion. read more

I loved my experience with Strange Escapes! I'd totally go again! I went to the St. Augustine weekend. I actually went by myself , first trip ever alone without knowing anyone. I wasn't even a ghost hunter but was interested in the paranormal . Needless to say I was very nervous for many reasons .But once I got there , everyone was so friendly , and welcoming. There were others in the same boat as I was and we all bonded pretty quickly. I enjoyed all the lectures and demonstrations ! So fascinating ! I learned a lot ! The investigation night was exciting ! We got a few EVPs and used the Estes method , which blew my mind! They plan so many other activities that it a great way to pass the time and meet other people ... and to have fun! We did a meet and greet night , a wine tasting event , a historic ghost walk in a cemetery , pub crawl, and a tour of the historic sites ... never mind the dinners .. the lectures etc. Amy Bruni , Adam Berry, Chip Coffey, and Andrea Perron were the main people there. They were so kind and very easy going . We were all there together , no one was the non-approachable "celebrity". It was a great experience and very eye opening ! I am still in contact with a handful of people I met last year. I highly recommend going .. for anyone who is into ghost hunting , who's into spiritual , paranormal stuff or anyone who's is just curious ! Based on Amy's response - I am updating to a 2 - 2.5. She is exactly right in that the speakers were present at every scheduled event and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. She is also correct that there was no guarantee that the speakers would be available outside of the scheduled events and that was not my expectation either. It's a big ship and a lot of people. My issue is and stays within the scheduled events. We were at the Venetian for an hour and a half so we didn't leave early causing us to miss the speakers as they stopped by tables. If we'd stayed any longer, we'd have missed the evening show. You weren't standing by Sarah when she made the comment to John about switching buses so you don't know if anyone laughed. You weren't even in our tour group at Altun Ha. There were several cruisers on the coordinated events that had the same issues I did - it wasn't just me. Maybe they haven't gotten to their reviews yet. And we did bring up these issues - Sarah just happened to be the person we mentioned it to and I've already noted how that went. I am a flexible, go-with-the-flow traveler so if she didn't want to address the issues, I wasn't going to belabor the point. And no, I am not saying she didn't address any issues - she did, It simply wasn't worth enduring the response to bring any other issues or concerns to her. All that does is make everyone dissatisfied with the experience and that isn't fair to others who are not having any issues with the event. I am sincerely glad that other cruisers have provided you better feedback. It takes all kinds to shape these events which also involves all types of feedback. read more

The Strange Escapes event on the Norwegian Dawn/Western Caribbean was the most fun my daughter, her boyfriend and I have had, collectively and individually in a long time. Getting to meet Amy, Grant, Adam, John, Chip and Tim, Sarah and "Mike" was exciting. Because it was our first, we noticed the other "guests" talking about their experiences with Strange Escapes at the other locations and saw the friendly and warm interactions between them and our hosts. It was nice to see they remembered them and acknowledged them. Our hosts spread themselves thin to accomodate the attendees as best as they could, sure, at times you could tell it was overwhelming for THEM, but they always had a smile on their faces and you could ask them anything and they would answer. They put up with all our quirky questions and listened while we told our ghost stories. Yes, there were quite a few schedule hiccups, but geez, we were in New Orleans with tons of stuff to do, we were on the five shades of blue high seas with stars and little islands to view and after the tours, shopping and swimming or what ever...tons to do at port! If you have interest in the paranormal and the opportunity to attend one of their events, DO IT! If you live in Los Angeles, try the Queen Mary event - go to the Strange Escapes website and BOOK IT NOW! It is worth it!
