She looked at the pictures and proceeded to totally ignore what I wanted. She chopped my hair into a short pixie style. When I take off my glasses I cannot see myself in the mirror while my hair gets cut so I am helpless in that chair. It dies no good for a stylist to cut and cut and cut, then ask "How do you like the length." Tge hair is gone. Gone. And at my age, it takes months of growing to get it back. The really sad part of this story is that it was the second time I sat in her chair and showed her the same pictures. Never going back there again. Even though it is super clean, nicely decorated, and friendly.

I was going on vacation to the hot heat and my hairdresser wasn't available. I went into kinky roots and got a consultant the same day. She told me what kind of hair to buy, and explained to me since I was natural, the braids she would give me would last me at least 2 months. I take EVERYTHING out of my hair in SIX weeks. I applaud her for taking a deposit for a braiding appointment, people like to play with people's time. But you have to take care of the people who do your hair! The whole salon vibe is amazing. People stop in to say hello. Someone else getting a slayed sleek pony tail, lashes, just a positive vibe. You DO NOT sit in the chair and feel like "whew the ghetto!" THIS is a classy establishment. Thank you for that. These purple and blue braids lasted over 3 months. I came in and got my front touched up, and I was set for another month. I could have left the braids in for 3 months, but I get bored, my hair grows like crazy when it is contained. But her locs and braids are everything. I love my braids. I love the locs that she does on the ladies, always so colorful and meticulous. Thank you Kinky Rootz for having blessed hands, a beautiful spirit and always taking care of me. See you soon!

The second time I came for a haircut which is listed on her website at $40. I asked if she could use purple shampoo because I'm a blonde and she said no- she needed it for other clients. She charged me $55 for the haircut. A little communication can go a long way and due to her poor people skills I will not see her again. We didn't "discuss" anything about my hair color I asked for foil highlights she did a balayage no foil. There was no consultation she just started doing what she wanted. My hair is one inch past my shoulders, if you want to charge me extra because it's "so long and thick" that's no problem but you should definitely inform your client before the service that you are charging them so much extra. Any other salon I've been to has always offered purple shampoo when washing a blonde, I didn't want to change my tone, I understand what a toner does,I have always been offered purple shampoo when having my hair washed professionally.
