Middelburg's living room. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 2am. Laid back, indie bar for all ages…read moreduring the week. A bit louder, busier, younger, less indie and more dance and even some Dutch party music on friday and saturday nights. And one of the few places in town where sunday afternoons and sunday nights can actually be pretty good. Seventy-Seven (just call it 'Sev' if you want to blend in) is where Middelburgers learn to drink, fall in love, celebrate the birth of their children, come to to find old friends on christmas eve (even if they left the city decades ago), catch their elderly parents getting drunk and eventually catch their own kids having their first beers. One of the oldest bars in town: people have been drinking here on this spot since at least the 1780s. The original building was destroyed in a fire in the 1890s. The present-day building dates from around that time and survived Word War II. It's current decor is from around 1970 when the original De Koophandel (The Commerce) was renamed Seventy-Seven. Probably one of the ugliest and most worn out of all Middelburg bars, which adds to the charm. Other features: regular drum 'n bass nights, not so regular live music, huge terrace out front from april till october. The selection of beers (about 5 on draught, 10 on bottle) could be better. But the atmosphere is always good and you can get crisps, peanuts (free!) and all sorts of toasties around the clock.

Amazing bar down in a wine cellar with the best beers…read more From the street you would never know how awesome this bar is - nestled under a building you are down in a cellar that has an awesome vibe. The beers here are amazing with over 20+ on tap there is something for everyone - and some must try Trappist beers. I absolutely loved this spot. Only reason for not having 5 stars? The service. Although the place was relatively crowded, it was not very crazy at all especially when we first came in after opening and the staff behind the bar were kind of rude. I asked for a flight and they seemed annoyed they had to make one instead of just pouring 1 beer, and i was reading the menu and didn't have all my numbers ready to fire off - more upset. Additionally, my wife and I sat down at the bar about 1 hour after the place opened and we both had glass all over our chairs and now in our bottoms. The bartender was annoyed when my wife asked him to clean it - he said some glass thing exploded there before opening... so you didn't clean it? And then were annoyed customers had glass in their pants? make that make sense.

Pretty sure I was here back in 2015. It's hard to forget because the setting is so unique - an…read moreunderground stone cellar that's over 800 years old. When we arrived around 9pm on a Monday night, it was already fairly full and quickly became packed. This is a bar with a vast selection of beers, both on tap and in bottles, making it an easy spot to linger and sample Belgian brews. The atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit, especially if you're looking for a memorable and distinctly Bruges bar experience.

It has a bit of space inside, but it fills up very quickly towards the weeknights and weekends, so be sure to grab a spot earlier. The service is really great, and they help you find a beer that fits you. Definitely check it out in summer too. They have a cute little outdoor seating space that faces out to the canal on a not so busy street. So it has great views even from outside.

Pretty much what Aukje said, this was a great beer bar to stop at. Lots of choices, and the fact…read moreyou can sit outside is also nice too, including tables across the street and right by the canal is nice. Friendly staff, as well. More beer choices, than I thought a beer bar in a smaller town like Delft would have. I'm not sure if I missed it looking on their beer menu, but this was slightly strange. But for having Trappist Westvleteren wooden beer cases as part of their bar counter decor, I was surprised to not see Westvleteren Blonde, 8, or 12 on both their beer menu, and inside the beer cooler door I could see behind the bar. Maybe another Yelper who reviews later, can confirm if any of the 'Westie' beers are served here? Regardless, I did notice(thanks to Untappd's search function for where beers are available at) that several Amsterdam bars did serve Trappist Westvleteren beers in case this place didn't, such as Gollem's Proeflokaal. And I succeeded at the latter, finding Westvleteren 12.
