If you don't know it, Rye is an absolute beauty of a small town on the East Sussex coast. It reminds me of the very finest of Cornish villages with it's beamed cottages, streets cobbled with rounded flint stones and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. It's just near to Camber Sands too so.....visit!!! Anyway, they've fished here for yonks & Strand Quay is where they used to dry their nets in these tall, weatherboarded structures, just like The Stade in Hastings down the coast.............The Strand Quay Gallery is in one of these sheds and is surrounded by numerous bric a brac shops. They double up as a decent cafe & it's a nice way to browse when you're of a mind to. The latte was good & so was the driftwood art. They seem to specialise in affordable originals with coastal connections. Very pleasant. read more
