Avoid Collins Landscape at all cost. The used car salesman of landscaping . Dishonest /…read moremisleading. Collins purposely shorts the product you order with their miniature "scoop" size. And once their delivery truck dumps at your site and you immediately realize that you were misled, you're stuck. Their Driver claims ignorance, admits something doesn't look right, takes multiple pics, and recommends you call the office as he drives away. The owner Gary Collins is, of course, unavailable / unresponsive for days and the manager's response is to ask if you want to purchase even more. LOL. They, after the payment and delivery when questioned, suddenly report they use a smaller Special Scoop Size than you will find at almost any other supplier (their scoop magically weighs your product... not a Yard but their version of a guesstimation "ton scoop." Yep not a Yard scoop that otherwise is the industry standard.) And you end up severely shorted with rock weighing 1.3 to 1.5 tons per yard scoop costing you and profiting Collins big bucks. So, when Collins is trying to sell you "Scoops", you better get in writing that it's not a cooking scoop or a news reporter scoop. Dont trust them. Dont pay in advance. We initially chose Rick at Carolina Mountain Grading because he answered emails and messages…read morepromptly and was very courteous during our initial meeting at the site. We told him upfront that we were new to building a home and had never done this before, so we admit we were quite naïve about the process. He appeared genuine and we felt we could trust him. He gave us a quote, which left out a lot of details. I contacted him to get more information, such as what was covered in broad categories such as cutting in a driveway. Over the next few weeks, several things came up that he charged us extra for supplies such as gravel, although he clearly stated in an email that gravel was already included in the price. Each week, more charges were added without any forewarning. They would just show up on the invoice. He was not able to provide any receipts to show the number of trips to the dump, yet he claimed it took 21 trips to the dump to clear a 1/3 acre lot! When I tried to discuss this, he simply would not discuss it. As we were in the middle of the process of getting the lot cleared, we did not want to fire him and hire someone else, so we tried to continue to work with him. Long story made short - his final bill came to over 3 times the original estimate! Considering the tremendous increase in the final bill, it took a week or so to transfer funds from various accounts to get him paid. I explained this to him and he seemed Ok with this, but he continued to send us electronic invoices every single day stating that the account was overdue even though we were making payments to him every couple of days. Clearly, we were trying to get him paid! So, he finished the tasks and we are hoping to move ahead with the building of our house. Final straw, the drilling company and home construction project manager called me today to explain that the silt fence was not installed properly and someone has to redo that. It was simply staked in the ground. I called Rick to discuss this with him. He said he never heard that a silt fence needs to be inserted into a trench in the ground and backfilled to work properly. He flat-out refused to do anything about it, even though we paid him to install a silt fence. He got very angry with me and told me the conversation was over and hung up on me! He was shouting so loud that my husband in the other room could hear his voice over the phone. This guy comes off as being very polite, but honestly - don't trust him unless you have everything down to the minute detail related to costs. We paid him an exorbitant amount of money to clear a 1/3 acre lot and he can't even fix a silt fence? He certainly does not stand behind his work.

This is a follow up to my previous review on 11/9/24. Mr…read more Durgan, your departure was abrupt while I was working with the Spectrum tech having my internet cable restored that you had severed. When you told me you e-mailed me the final invoice for the project, I told you I could not review it at that time. You insisted you had bills to pay and needed the remaining balance immediately. At a glance I did notice that you had only given me credit for $12,000 previously paid when in reality it was $14,000. You gave no explanation but did make the change. If I had had the time to review, I would have noted that you charged me for YOUR mistakes and redos to try to make the water feature operate properly. It was very clear after 6 weeks that you were way over your head. You did not have the resources or the skill set for this project. If I was happy when you left it was because I would not be having someone run over my sprinkler heads, take out my irrigation piping, sever internet cable, run your equipment into my brand new fence and drip oil all over my driveway. You have got to be kidding if you think I want you to come back for further damage to my property!

I called A1 Landworx to look at a huge water drainage issue that my yard was having. Brad came out…read morequickly and looked at my yard and determined what needed to be done. He provided a quote quickly and was priced reasonably and competitively for the job. He started the job within two weeks and came over several times before the job started, even during a torrential down pour, to make sure that he was addressing all the drainage issues my front yard was having. He had to install two pipes under my driveway, put ditches down both sides of the drive, and extensively graded to direct all the water to a dry creek bed that he lined with river rock. He finished up by laying out seed, peat moss, and putting straw mesh in the ditches to help with erosion. Lastly he put down a new driveway of crush run and put riff raff rock around the entrance and exits of the pipes. Brad is by far one of the hardest working men I have ever met. It took him 6 days to complete the job in the middle of August working by himself the majority of the time. He went above and beyond to make sure he looked at any issue I had. I would hire him again for any project whether it be small, medium, or large. Very professional and took great pride in the work he did!
