Jerry and Tammy Rowse are the owners. We felt welcome the moment we arrived! The accommodations are extremely comfortable, and the food is FABULOUS! We sat around a large table for every meal interacting with Jerry, Tammy, and the other guests! It made me feel like a scene taken right out of The Waltons! Our stay was very well organized! We had the privilege of "catching our own horse, placing a halter around its neck and leading it out of the corral. The next step is brushing the horse really well, followed by saddling the horse, and finally removing the halter and replacing it with the bridle. We were provided ample assistance from Jerry, Tammy, and most notably, TO, aka Tonya! Each of them assists in such a professional manner that we NEVER felt intimidated or as though we were being subjected to condescension. We hadn't saddled a horse in nearly thirty (30) years, but thanks to their mentoring, we were literally "back in the saddle again"! The horses are phenomenal! Jerry divvies up the work amongst each guest daily and by day's end we were exhausted, but anxious to go again the next morning! If you like to ride, this is the place for you! If you like to eat, this is the place for you! If you like hardworking awesome people, this is the place for you! If you like honesty and integrity from the owners of the ranch, this is the place for you! If you want a vacation full of memories for a lifetime, this is the place for you! Both were designed to view the Sandhill Cranes in their migration from Canada to Texas. The evening tour was disappointing just because it was difficult to see the cranes...it was night! We could hear them "humming", which was very fun. But I didn't head the Tour guidance to dress warmly, and I got very cold. Not their fault, but make sure you are dressed for cold. The Tour the next day was in a bus, which took us to harvested corn fields where we could see thousands of birds on the ground and flying into the fields. The guides were very informative and equally excited to see these birds. I recommend Dusty Trails highly.

My only drawback was the lack of cell phone reception and wi-fi. But if you're trying to disconnect, those are advantages.

The bathhouse built next door is much nicer than the ones at the State parks if you rent a cabin there and certainly more private. We brought a family of 7 and had plenty of room. The night sky was a core memory for the kids that they won't soon forget.

When we asked about arrival, they allowed a 10-11 ish time to arrive and when we did, they gave us excellent directions to begin our tanking journey. The trip down the river was serene, and growing up in the Sand Hills, I for one was taken back to a wonderful time in my youth surrounded by openness, prairie and beauty. No adventure can be perfect, but this one was close. The only item that was not perfect, and it is totally out of the control of the outfitters is the depth of the river. If the river was higher, it would be much more difficult to get stuck on sand bars.
