We always used to go here as kids and we loved it, and I decided recently to return for a little trip down memory lane.. I was quite disappointed.
Story Book Glen is a large piece of land with lots of fairy tale statues on it, mostly from nursery rhymes (such as little bo peep, goldilocks etc) though they do have a couple of strange ones like Barney the Dinosaur and Bart Simpson.
There is a restaurant and a garden centre on site, and also a play area with climbing frames and slides.
Everything seems really run down now, the paint is chipping of the fibre glass statues, or bits are falling off them and they look incomplete. It is hard to describe the slightly morbid look of them all! The farm section doesn't have many animals in it now; only a cow and a sheep and some guinea pigs, and to top it off it costs £7 to get in which I think is too expensive for what it is. I think this place has lost its charm somewhat, which is a real shame. read more
