I am so disappointed to be writing this review and have tried multiple times over the years to communicate with the owner, Marlo to try to get this issue resolved.
Months before they even opened to the public, I attended an open house because a trusted friend & follow business woman/educator told me about the place that would be opening. I loved the idea and wanted to support a mother/homeschooler owned business, plus I figured it could help me when I needed childcare for my own business.
So they had an initial deal for people who were pre-purchasing to buy hours without needing to buy a membership. They were not even opening for at least a couple months after that.
After they opened, I was not even able to take my child there before the pandemic hit and everything shut down. My own business in the event industry was put on hold for a full year & trickled back after that. I no longer needed childcare, nor felt comfortable leaving my child anywhere due to the pandemic. So I reached out to Marlo to ask for a refund.
She told me they do not offer refunds, but my hours would not expire, and I could use them whenever I felt comfortable again. I was disappointed with this response because even if their policy is no refunds, this was an unprecedented situation that no one could have predicted. I had personally refunded unused services to my own clients (even though my contract would have allowed me to keep their money) because I felt it was best business practice. Yet I understood that they were barely getting their business started and accepted that they probably couldn't afford to refund people at that point.
So a couple months ago, I saw that they had classes going on that were something I would put my son in, even though I still didn't need childcare. I wrote to ask if I could use those hours that were not supposed to expire for the classes. I was told by Marlo that not only was it an extra cost to do classes, but that I would have to produce my paperwork from 2019 and purchase a membership in order to use the hours I had paid for back then.
I thought for sure she must be forgetting the deal that was offered, so I emailed her a couple more times to remind her that no membership was required when I purchased the hours, plus I sent verification of purchase. I could not believe that a fellow mother business owner essentially stole $170 from me, telling me I cannot use the unused hours I purchased unless I purchase a membership at $150! But at least I'm glad I didn't leave my child with a person who thinks it is ethical to do this. read more
