Jefferson’s - 12 piece boneless wings with curly fries

Jefferson’s

Finally gave Jefferson's a try with the crew! It was a positive experience and we all agreed we'd…read morereturn in the future. Jefferson's is a small, I'd say regional chain that seems to have a tendency to pop up in areas without a ton of dining options; there are locations in places such as Winchester, TN and Scottsboro, AL. Given this pattern, it's a logical addition to Hampton Cove, which has historically had a huge dearth of restaurants despite the population density and relative affluence of the area. We (me, hubs, sis-in-law, and her husband) came for lunch on a hot Saturday afternoon about two weeks ago. There were a few other people eating in at the time but they weren't crazy busy. We were seated quickly by our waitress, Shawna, who was great! They have a fairly large menu with a lot of American bar food favorites. Lots of appetizers (buffalo chicken dip, fried mushrooms and pickles, etc). For main entrees, they have wings, burgers, chicken, and somewhat weirdly...oysters? Not going there personally but it is an option! The atmosphere is basic sports bar, but it's clean and airy. There's a lot of seating and they seem to do a brisk carryout business too! BIL had apparently been craving a root beer float and was surprised to see it offered here as a summertime special. He and SIL both got one and declared it very tasty! We also got an appetizer of pretzel bites for everyone to share. The bites were incredibly hot and fresh, and served with beer cheese and "sassy sauce" that was a little like a sweeter honey mustard. We enjoyed them! Everyone except for me had wings (2 bone-in, 1 boneless order) and fries or tater tots. Resoundingly happy all around! My husband did wish he could split the flavors on his wings, but you have to get a really large order (I wanna say like 12+??) to do that, so he settled on one flavor. I had chicken tenders and fries and also enjoyed them! The tenders were very large and quite meaty. The breading could've used a tiny bit more salt or seasoning, but they went well dipped in the creamy ranch. Shawna was a highlight of our experience; without asking, she brought BIL more root beer for his float when he quickly drained the liquid part of it, allowed us to keep the queso and sassy sauce from the appetizer to dip our entree fries in, and was very prompt and patient getting extra sauces and refills as needed. Shout out to Shawna! Will definitely return to try more appetizers or get some yummy bar food or watch a game. Thanks for a positive first experience!

Food was not good at all. Chicken tenders very dry. Chicken sandwich very thin. Like 1/4" thin…read morefor chicken. Fries meely like an old apple.

Jefferson Street (Pub) (we always called it Jefferson's) is the place you go when,well...you feel…read morethe need to make bad choices. It's been around a few decades y'all. I loved it when my high school buddy's band would play there! So yeah, they have live music. I recall their beer is cheap, seating upstairs, they have TVs and the interior is loud. I think they have or at least had pool tables. It's adjacent to the main parking garage that's been there forever and an easy walk through gravel to get to the door. They've always had bouncers and sometimes charge a cover charge. The patrons range from just-turned-21s to middle aged folks and I don't have any really fantastic food and dining memories at Jefferson's. It's a bar...a bar that serves food. The bars are long and we're always well staffed with guys. Not the friendliest and not the most insidious. Just a guy willing to pour a draft beer or pitcher. No small talk here or relationship building, or "how are you nice to see you again." It's self serve, with food runners dropping off the eats at your table never to be seen again. You stand in line food truck stuke to order your drinks If we ate there, the numerous times we went, it would have been to get some calories in the belly before the brewskis! Think greasy french fries and yeah be sure shake your groove thing on the tiny dance floor in front of the stage. Jefferson's sort of oddly shares an entrance way to an adjacent bar just to the east of Jefferson's. Crap I cannot recall the adjacent bar's name at the moment. So, if you want a borderline dive bar, this would be a good inexpensive happy hour bar stop for beers/pitchers at stop 1 of a downtown pub crawl. Set your expectations low and they will be met.

This is a decent enough place, but they put a "service" charge on your bill and explain that it's…read morefor the fee that credit card co's charge. But I paid cash. And they said it didn't matter either way, I'd still have to pay the credit card service fee. This seems VERY dishonest. Why not go ahead and charge me for a couple of hot wings that I didn't order/recieve, because "yeah, we put that on everyone's bill whether they ordered it or not." I won't be back.

If you have some time, seriously consider the Day at Jack tour. An all-day, immersive experience…read moreinto the town of Lynchburg, its history and, of course, an in-depth look at the operation of the Jack Daniel's distillery. My wife and I just finished this tour and would recommend it without hesitation. Our day started at 10:35, when we met our tour guide, Justin, and the small group we'd be spending the day with. After a brief introduction and a quick photo, we boarded a shuttle bus and got a quick look at some historical Lynchburg landmarks. Then we enjoyed lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's Restaurant. It was family-style, southern fare, and simply outstanding. We walked through town to the distillery and enjoyed a fun, fascinating, super informative tour of how Jack is made, stored, bottled, the whole thing. This tour is the one opportunity for visitors to see the inside of one of the barrel storage facilities. The day ended with a tasting session, where we explored some of the finer points of a selection of Jack Daniel's whiskeys and their individual qualities and personalities. Plus everyone received a gift bag with a framed version of the photo taken earlier in the day, some chocolates, and a bottle of Miss Mary Bobo's Hot Sauce (which I had earlier on fried Okra and it was tremendous!). It was nearly 4 p.m. by the time we were done. So I meant when I said "if you have some time." And it costs a little more. But worth every penny and every minute of time. Extra shoutout to Justin who was knowledgeable and engaging and an all around good dude.
