Did I mention there was NO HOT WATER? Hotel is often booked with large weddings, business and family gatherings. Rooms are large and accommodating. The hallways are tile floored and long, so thus noisy. Always check that the shower and/or bathroom has hot water. The breakfast buffet and food in general really needs improvement. The chef or manager is never present in over 40 days of staying in the hotel, off and on for six months. The kitchen staff, in the kitchen, always seemed to be standing around. How is this possible? The quality of the food is inferior, compared to other hotels in the area. I definitely would recommend large groups to have food catered from outside. By far, the food service is the worst part of this hotel.

I can only imagine how magnificent it must have been during its heydays! It's another story of a man's testament of love to his wife who died during child birth. Don Mariano Lacson built this beautiful structure in memory of his wife, Maria Braga Lacson who died while giving birth to their 8th child. According to our tour guide (and a bit of research) during WWII, Filipino guerrillas set the mansion ablaze to deter the Japanese forces from using it as some kind of headquarters. The house was blazing for three days because of the exceptional type of wood used in the structure. What's left of the house is the structure you see now. It's still currently maintained by Lacson's heirs. It is also available to rent for private events. Imagine the photographs! There is an entrance fee - it's affordable. There's also a restaurant on the grounds, so if you happen to need sustenance, it's available. It really is an architectural wonder! If at anytime you're in the area, make a stop! It'll be worth it!

Now i do! Anyways, so they have a parking lot for small and large vehicles. There also is an entrance fee for each person. It is a self-guided tour with notes on each artifact. There is a restaurant on site with both indoor and outdoor seating. There are stairs, but there is no second level - that was burned down during the War - all that is explained as well on one of the placards throughout the venue. Just the sheer size and how this was meticulously designed was the real marvel of this structure. Its really a sight to see. its not just a building - it was made out of love, and inspired by travel. This is a must-visit for both locals and foreigners.

The large complex was beautiful and consisted of professionally manicured and maintained natural gardens and walkways. Numerous covered lounging areas dotted the shoreline, offering quiet secluded areas to relax and enjoy the ocean views. The reef was beautiful with colorful coral, an enormous variety of fish, sea-turtles, seahorses and other wildlife. Professional guides are available to assist snorkelers. Overall, Hale Manna is an outstanding resort and excellent value.

That was the only adjustment done but I do have to give them credit for doing their best to get rid of the old musty smell. The hotel & fixtures can still benefit with some upgrades. And on checking out, they almost argued with us on the 2nd morning when we had not asked for their 'breakfast' a second time. Now most filipinos would ask, 'what is your problem,' but what is not acceptable in a high-end hotel in any developed country should not be here either: for similar accommodations Singapore, HongKong, Tokyo, Soeul, Taipei and Shanghai would likely do much better...
