Maybe I've just been going to Home Depot too long, but I have forgotten what real customer service…read moreis all about. I got a refresher course today when I visited Windsor Plywood. Upon entering you feel the slippage of time, creaky wooden floors, lots of nooks and crannies with old-timey looking products everywhere. Windsor is part of a dying breed, those old school hardware stores that have been put out of business by the big box monsters. But Windsor is still there and going strong, and more importantly leading the way in customer service. I know my way around a workbench and have been known to twist a wrench or two, but every one of the employees I dealt with was a pro. They knew their sh*t and never once swore. During what I like to call my "sister's shelf adventure" I was given several options and possible solutions to the problem, once chosen my solution was perfectly cut by the same fellow that had helped all the way through. When I got it home, it fit perfectly, the end result, happy sister. All because a hardware store employee knew what he was talking about and was happy to help. Take that Home Depot, you too Lowe's and don't get me started on Canadian Tire. Don't pass up the chance to visit and support this wonderful old hardware and lumber store, it's got some amazing products (check out the live wood shelving or all the weird novelty type hardware stuff). All that combined with a smart, fun and funny staff makes it easy to go to this hardware store, even if it's for your sister.

UPDATE FEB 18TH: On…read moreFeb. 5th, we called Windsor and asked for an update to our missing door. Currently we have one door with a brushed silver frame. They offered to send us a white framed door with a discount delivered by end of week. We emailed back saying that our doors wouldn't be matching and that we would want a pair of matching doors with white frames and that they could take back the silver framed door. No further emails or calls from Windsor...and no door. On Tuesday, Feb 13th, Windsor called saying they would have the silver frame door ready and delivered by yesterday (Saturday Feb 17th). We called on Friday to confirm the delivery time as we wanted to make sure we were around on Saturday. However Windsor still didn't have the door. So no door as of today... Still....

I contacted Ken Magoski and Rick Pearson at Flexstones.ca or Flexstone coatings in Vancouver in…read more2019 to resurface my deck. They assured me their product was the best around and they would give me a 25 year warranty if I had one of their contractors, Kevin Spafford, install the Flexstone coatings product. Well, so much for all the promises of a fantastic product. I paid extra money to have it installed over 3/4 inch plywood panels to ensure a good adhesion. The product did not adhere to the plywood in many sections and the bubbling has continued to expand. I have written and spoken to Rick many times, and there are always promises of dealing with the issue, but we are now in 2024 and the problem persists and no one has come to deal with it. Most of my emails and phone calls are ignored. Kevin has promised to come on more than a dozen occasions and always fails to show up. The only way to get their attention is through arbitration. My advice is to stay clear of this product and company.

This review is from some time ago but hearing from an acquaintance that they did the same thing…read moreagain, I felt compelled to write. And after spending time researching them, I really think the public needs to know about them. This outfit has gone by many different names but you can equate this current iteration to Drytech. They sell a urethane coating that is supposed to seal up an existing surface, which it probably does. However the road from having a surface that needs a repair to having this supposedly wonderful coating is where they have failed miserably. I have been on a job where I witnessed their contractors show up, spend some time doing minimal prep then leave. Show up again, spend time smoking and not doing much and so on. I guess they bill by the hour. The job hold up is one thing, but then when they starting applying their surfacing to a poorly prepped surface that is another entirely. The real kicker though is that they then demand payment and threaten to take the home owner to some kind of construction tribunal court. Then after things are supposedly settled, as in they are off the job, the homeowner finds out they have put a lien on the property. The cost to remove the uncured goop they lay down is criminal and absolutely no support from them. Really folks, stay far far away from these people. Only bad things come from them.
