10/10 service!!! Read below. Problems list: Underpowered, hard start, engine runout, shift slamming, died under throttle, even after running for 10 minutes and turning off engine would take forever to crank over again. I had taken my 2001 Johnson 90 engine to a marine engine shop near my house on Huffman and long story short I ended up having to take my boat back to that shop three different times because the boat never ran right after he replaced the entire engine, and "tuned it up"; the final time leaving my wife and 2 young children floating away powerless while I swam out to them to try to get it going. Finally after the third time I realized that I needed to take it to a more reputable shop. I contacted Stone and Sons after multiple recommendations from different people. They advised me that they were a few weeks behind but would put me in line and contact me when I could drop my boat off. They reached out to me sooner than I thought and I brought them my boat the following morning at 7 AM ( their hours are very convenient for pickup/drop off!) within a couple of days they contacted me and told me the multitude of issues that I had with my "new motor" from prior shop. They even talked me through what was needed and why it was needed. The entire experience with this shop has been nothing short of INCREDIBLE! I took my boat on the water within a couple hours of picking it up and it has never ran smoother, faster, and NO ISSUES! Been coming here for years, this is the last time they will ever see me or any of my families boats. Their arrogance and attitude is the worst I've ever had to deal with. Had my boat in for repairs, got it back took it out one time and the exact same problem happened again. They told me that I don't know how to use my boat. I have no idea why Yelp does not post all of the "other" 5 star posts! These folks are the best!! Don't believe anything you read that is negative about this place! It is the ONLY boat shop that I will take my boat too! Have you ever been to a restaurant and used the bathroom in the back and found out that the Kitchen looks like Sh!t? That's a great indication of how they run their business. Now ask Stone and sons to use their bathroom! What you will see is every part that is known to be in a boat is categorized on shelves. You will be amazed! This is why they are so good as they never have to "wait" for a boat part to come in to finish the repair on your boat! My boat had many issues as it has been in storage for 6 years. The boat was up and running in 3 days. And the price was a VERY fair price which led to a very healthy tip to the Mechanic! I like their shop, They held their last impeller for me for about a week, and another time even gave me some free parts for my 85 Evinrude that's on a 1973 Glastron GT 150 (Orange 007 boat from "Live and Let Die") I've bought other parts from them over the years even though it's about a 25 mile drive one way and I could get my parts from shops that are closer. Stone & Sons helped me with a 15hp Mercury. The motor would not run due to a clogged carb. The big name dealer where I bought the motor told me to leave the boat and they would get to it as soon as possible, but it would take 3 to 4 weeks. Stone & Sons took the motor and I had it back two days later. That's right it only took 2 days and the best part is the motor ran better than when it was new! Thanks Mr. Stone. read more

I called the shop with fuel issues i had ,they told me to bring it in, so i did that wednesday morning.They started it up and did a quick check right then and found out what was wrong.They called me the next morning to pick up the boat it was ready to go.Cant believe they are so quick,all other shops had me on a 3 week waiting list.Will get back with another review after i run the boat. Stone and sons is awesome... i bought a boat off craigs list that the guy said needed a shift cable after a litte work i found that the drive gears in my upper out unit were totaly gone. called these guys from college station and they gave me a price and told me they could have my boat fixed in two days. every one else i called said it would be two to three weeks just to get the parts. long story short they can thru on there word and had me fixed by friday evening and on the lake saturday with out the normal repair shop oh by the way we found another thousand dollars of work that you need. these guys are great and i will continue to haul my boat the hundred miles to them any time i need work i cant do my self read more

Wow what a great shop! ... had issues on a Friday with a big weekend on the water planned with the family ... I explained the problem to the guy on the phone... he said bring it by but he is backed up and I might have to leave it .... bummed that we would be on the lake for the weekend without a boat. The owner took my info down, did a quick walk around ...asked how much time I had? ....I said I was just getting ready to go to the lake .... he stopped his big project on a big boat ...dropped the lower half of my motor in a few minutes and changed the rubber thing that helped cool my motor ... in less than an hour he had me up and going again ... seriously ... i had shops tell me it would take 2 weeks before they could look at it, and they had me fixed up in this short of time.... ended up buy some oil in bulk (way cheaper than anywhere else) and some other items .... this is now my go to place read more
