I used Stockdale Aire in July of 2022 to repair my A/C unit. They were very helpful and found out my mother board had gone back. I spent $499 getting it fix. Since my heater was an older model, he had to make some adjustments with the wiring. Flash forward until November of 2022 and again my thermostat goes out or so I thought. Stockdale Aire came out and said another part went out. I watch the guy install the new part and it still didn't work. I switched 2 wires around on the motherboard (the same one THEY installed 4 months prior) and charged me $565. After complaining to their office and being told that it was done correctly, I reluctantly paid so it would affect my credit score but I did file a complaint with the BBB. Absolute Trust! For about 30 years, Stockdale Aire has serviced our Rudd, rooftop air conditioner and heating unit. They specialize in Ruud, but I'm sure they work on all units. By keeping up on our annual Spring and Winter Tune-Ups at a highly reasonable rate (still less than $180 a year for 2 services!), we have saved THOUSANDS of dollars and the unit works as good as the day our home was brand new! Instead of trying to sell us a new unit through the years, they focused on specific technical issues and only fixed what needed to be fixed. The technician is always great. I trust their technicians 100% However, I set up an appointment for my mother's house in the morning and my house in the afternoon. I was given a few hour window and that they would call before they are on the way. I got three phone calls with two of them going to voicemail from 9:01am to 9:04am. I called them back three minutes later at 9:07am and was told that I missed my appointment window. I have a small problem with the office staff. I am very puzzled at how I can miss my several hour appointment window when I was giving less than seven minutes to call back. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed by Stockdale Aire. Disappointed. Felt taken advantage of and probably should have turned down the repair and eaten the $100 call out charge. Called them out and told them problem was the condenser fan motor or capacitor. It took them 10 minutes total to test the capacitor and replace it, and still charged me $270. Didn't seem like the tech's fault but the company's terrible pricing. Should have done it myself. I will only call them again as a last resort. The tech was young and nice.We started to talk and he told me he only did new installs.Red flag everything was fine.I spoke with some women.I told them the problem, and they even spoke to tech for me. We annually have Stockdale Aire service our AC unit to get it ready for summer. When scheduling an appointment, I told the folks I could meet the technician on a Friday after 10am. The lady scheduling, said she could make me the second appointment and that should work. The day of our appointment a technician called my wife at 8:50am and asked if he could come by. She asked the technician to call me, which I never received a call, message or text message. I got to the house by 9:15, still no call. My wife called the technician multiple times, and sent him a text message I was home and he could come by. He said 45 minutes via text. Tina with service called my wife and told her we had refused service. I then called Tina to discuss and wow.... she was not helpful. I will never use Stockdale aire again. Hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered in my life. Not saying your experience will be this way, but good luck with Tina! read more

During the triple digit heat wave, my less than 3 year old AC started to have problems, where no cool air was coming out of vents in the house. Th first company I called to check out the problem advised there was a leak but couldn't find the leak. A friend of mine recommended Stockdale Aire. Kelby came to service my AC. Less then 15 minutes, he found the leak. He worked in the extreme heat and welded the leak area in the AC unit outside and got my house cooled off. After hearing the company's ad on the radio, thinking Stockdale Aire was a good fit for my need, I called them. Let me add that this was a Sunday (9/1/19) evening around 6pm over the Labor Day weekend. My A/C (we have 2 separate units) wasn't cooling down our upstairs bedrooms. The fan wasn't spinning on the outdoor condenser. I also believed that the capacitor was also faulty. Again, this was Sunday evening. I called Stockdale Aire for two reasons: according to their ad, they're "in the business of being inconvenienced" when A/C issues arrive; and, all other companies weren't responding to my telephone calls after first calling Stockdale Aire. On the phone tree I was directed to an on-call tech and left a message with my name, telephone number and a brief description and waited. And waited...and waited. Three hours later, I received a call from the weekend on-call tech. A $264 service fee just to come out was explained. The tech seemed irritated and inconvenienced for my call and because it was now 9:30pm, I ended the call and declined their services. The tech was also thirty minutes away which would have delayed the service call even more. Thanks but no thanks. For a company that prides itself on great customer service when "inconvenient" things happen, I felt greatly disappointed; hence, the poor rating. I called another company which took care of the problem (a dead capacitor and fan motor). In situations like this, I believe great customer service ahead of the actual repair is a telltale sign of a company's ability to solve the problem in a timely, professional, effective and reasonable manner. Our go-to HVAC people! We always use Stockdale Aire for our yearly maintenance and they really came to the rescue during a summer call-out 3 years ago. PG&E was doing several of those little 2-second on/off power things they love so much. Three years ago they fried our 4-year-old AC unit and Stockdale Aire came out and saved us on a Friday night. Tonight, Saturday, PG&E did it again. AC made an awful sound then wouldn't stop running and the temp was rising by a degree every 30 minutes or so. We called Stockdale Aire's after-hours on-call tech and left a message and Kurt called us back right away. He explained that these units are made to re-calibrate themselves after power failures like this and to give it a little more time and see if the temperature started to go down. He said it could take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours. We were hopeful but skeptical. After not too much longer the temperature started to fall. We keep our thermostat at 79 degrees and before it got back to where it started Kurt called back to check on us and make sure things were OK. We were so impressed! This could have been a very expensive emergency call-out but he saved us a ton of money. Thank you for being there for us Kurt and Stockdale Aire and for putting the customer above profit! read more

Called three service providers when the A/C stopped functioning in the night. It'll be 106 today so I started calling at 8. One was booking appts two weeks out due to everyone having the same issue. The other was 13 days out. The first recommended Stockdale Aire because "they've got more crews and they're honest." I called and got a 1pm to 5pm window for TODAY! Office person was great when I booked and someone called to alert that my tech was on his way-15 minute warning. Mark rang the bell and knew the possible issues based on my description. He was here for 40 minutes and the cool air was flowing after thirty probably. He washed the coils and replaced the part. The unit is past its expected life and I told him that before he agreed but he didn't bother to try to sell me on a new one which I really appreciate. Sometimes when you're over the barrel it's that sale not the service that gets focused on by the tech. Goodwill will make me take their bid when the time inevitably comes so Mark put some future dollars on the balance sheet for sure. read more

Stockdale Aire came out and looked at our attic unit. The A.C. is outside on a concrete pad. The attic unit was making some loud screeching sounds and the breaker was tripping. We knew something was wrong. They cane out promptly and diagnosed the problem, gave us a verbal quote and ordered the necessary part. A few days later. On a Friday. They returned and installed the blower wheel. A 65$ part that they charged me 359$ for. Model number B1368047A part number 054442-0124. Then charged me extra for labor. I'm still mad about the markup! The blower wheel still squeaked and made a lot of noise. I called them back Saturday morning and was told I would have to wait until Monday or pay 75$ for a weekend fee. Monday they came out and replaced the blower wheel again. With no further charge. They also replaced a part that was causing the breaker to trip. Which the first guy didn't look at. At no extra charge. read more

I have used Stockdale Aire for about 20 years, and have a history with a high volume of service requests as I previously owned a Property Management Company and all repairs were handled excellently. However, I want to focus on my own home. About 7 years ago I had a new A/C (HVAC) unit installed on my home and did a complete revision of all my ducting and added returns. Stockdale's bids was $ 2,000.00 less that 5 other bids. The plans were engineered and repairmen came out several times to get the balancing of air volume correct (this is both an art and science). Today I called to get my newer home's Dual A/C units serviced and discovered there had been a small price increase in the Summer cleaning and tune up....Believe me they are worth it. Stockdale Aire has been our AC and heating service/repair company for over 20 years but I'm becoming less and less satisfied with them. It's not that they aren't knowledgeable but I don't feel appreciated as a longtime customer and I'm all about building that relationship with my service providers. We replaced 2 of our 3 AC units through them a few years ago and have had them to our home twice a year for service all these years...but I have become dissatisfied for a number of reasons...first, when I called in March to schedule preventative service on our units I was told it would be over 8 weeks before they could have anyone out to our home and secondly, since we have 2 air cleaners (which they've always serviced/cleaned as part of the normal twice yearly visits) I was notified that they now charge an additional $60 per air cleaner. I make sure to call for service when they're running their special pricing but they aren't cheap and now with the additional $120 I'll have to pay on top of the normal $250, I'm considering changing companies. I'm usually SO loyal to all my service providers (plumber, electrician, etc...been with all the same ones for many years) but Stockdale Aire may not be on my list of providers much longer... read more

We had stockdale aire come out for the $89 maintenance, even though we had no problems with the AC. Prevention is better, we think, before a problem. they did some maintenance, they said, and said it was good for another year. When we thn had to use it, the temp in home climbed to 96 degrees. AC did NOT work. We called Stockdale aire and made an apptment for the next Monday, sweating over the weekend in 97 temp in home, two heart patients of 70+ years. We waited all day and no one show up, hen I called at 4:45 to see where they were, the office girl said we had cancelled the appointment. WE DID NOT ..I made the mistake of telling her to take me off of their mailing list, and she apparently too, revenge and cancelled. I asked to speak to manager, and she was worse, taking up for her two ladies in office, saying they are not RUDE and would never cancel. EXCEPT I had asked them to cancel. Hmmmm. Taking me off of a mailing list is not canceling that day's appointment. Regardless, we called another more ethical company. GUNDLACH'S, AND FOR $797 have AC working again. Stockdale Aire may have cost us $89 but it was a cheap lesson to learn that they are not compassionate, caring or honest. read more

Our air conditioning has been looked at 5 times by stockdale aire. All times they did nothing but charge our landlord a lot of money. This last time the guy was very rude. He didnt want to defrost our air conditioning and said hed be back when we make an appointment with him. My dad said no we need it fixed today and the guy got very rude and said that he had better things to do like watch the world series and said the on call guy can come by instead. Then he took off leaving his tools outside of our house. When we called the company to tell them the problem they told us we were lying that their guy already told them what happened and this is the second time my dad yelled at him. My dad never once yelled at this guy. He wasnt even at our house for 5 mins!! The office is not gonna do anything about this guy and decideds to be rude to their customers also. This company is not a reliable repair company for the air conditioning system that is installed on the house that my family occupies. They have been sent out 5 separate times for the same "freezing" up issue. The first two times, the tech ( and I use that term very loosely ), blamed us the occupants for dirty filters even though the were changed on a monthly basis as the had been for the previous 4 years. The third guy went into the attic and determined that the compressor fins were clogged ( as he put it ) with human filth and that the first two guys just didn't want to have to clean it. But very reluctantly he removed the compressor's front access panel had used a water hose to defrost and clean the frozen compressor fins. The fourth "bro" as he liked to call me finished reinstalling properly the third guys removed compressor access panel but then put gauges on the outside unit and said he found odd readings and a loose fitting. So he added gas and assured me that we should be good "bro". Two weeks later it's freezing up again and "bro" comes back out and says "well I guess we'll find that leak". But stops dead in his tracks when he discovers both the attic and outside unit have ice on them. He said that he had to wait for the units to defrost before he can do anything at which I replied that other of his same companies "techs" had defrosted the unit on the spot. He stated that he wasn't going to do that because the world series was starting shortly on tv. He said he would call his dispatcher and have them reschedule for service and I said no that it could be taken care of now after five attempts by the same company. He mentioned that I just didn't understand and without saying anything or putting me in touch with the companies administrators he loaded his van and took off without his gauges. He apparently called his office and said that I was rude during the last two visits and that they shouldn't service this house any longer and without even discussing the situation with me the company accepted and was ready to implement his plan. This company acts likes its a privilege for you that they will "try" and repair your unit. And they obviously at least in my opinion just want to charge repeatedly for return visits for the same issue. The are horrible in customer service, knowledge and professionalism. read more

I had Stockdale Aire install an air conditioner and on my roof and connect it to my existing furnace, that is located in my attic, approximately 8 years ago. Well to begin with I find out a couple years later that the salesman sold me a unit that was more than I actually needed. I guess so they could make more money. Then during install I come home from work and find that they mounted it way up on the roof so you can see it clearly and looks tacky. The installers told me too late it's mounted and it has to be in that spot for some lame reason. I found out later from real professionals it was because it was the closest easiest place to the furnace. The install inside the house at the air return vent they did some okie type of finishing around the vent. Not cool. They basically slapped this in and hit hit the road. Now eight years later the heater is not coming on, it's cold in here at 50 degrees, the thermostat or something is not working. Call these lovely folks and find out that since I live 45 miles away, where it is really cold, that there is a $300.00 charge just to look at it.
